JustInFudge
You take all the calls you'll be receiving from teams trying to move up and if you get an offer you cant refuse, you take it. Otherwise, you just take Teddy.
NJ
Yes - we would have to jump all over Bridgewater because we now have the best receiving corp's in the NFL and have so many quality Defensive Backs that we don't know where to put them all. But most importantly we need to do that because it is a 100% certain, lead pipe cinch that Teddy could never, ever, in a million years, turn out like: Giovanni Carmazzi Rex Grossman J.P. Losman Matt Leinart JaMarcus Russell Cade McNown Ryan Leaf Brady Quinn Akili Smith Mark Sanchez
Greenseed4
Just for the record, Bridgewater is definitely going to fall some. Probably not to 18 but certainly out of the top five. I saw all I needed to on the Mariucci specials. The way he presents in person is going to put people off. Sit him down from the white board and take the marker out of his hand and he can't get a sentence out without becoming hopelessly flustered. Nervous and shy are not qualities anybody associates with the face of the franchise. Type B and wrong color is a toxic cocktail for draft stock. Did you mean the Gruden QB Camp? Because I came away impressed with his football IQ. He only digests the one play "Bash", but he rattles it off like a scholar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDxsAwpM2YE
TuscanyTile2
I could easily be wrong about this but I have a strong hunch that Idzik believes in Geno (at least right now - things could change after this season). In short, I'd guess that Idzik would trade down if Bridgewater were available at 18.

faba
Vick will only be on this team for one year- you still will need another QB for the future either as a challenger to start or as capable replacement. But no I would not take him at 18- see if we can get some team to give up something for that pick that is desperate

NJ
Can't go through life scared. Couldn't agree more on the scared component, bit - but you of anybody here should have some data on top 50 pick busts at QB vs. those other positions. I don't have the data but it seems like the chance of busting at QB is a lot higher.
nycdan
I bet this same conversation is happening on the forums of every team that drafts from 11-17 as well. Can't really see why Baltimore, for example, wouldn't want to trade down, especially if there was a bonanza of picks in the offering. So at best, if he drops to 18, I suspect there won't be tremendous value being offered to trade down.

slats
I'm really hoping four QBs get drafted in the first 17 picks. If one falls, I tend to doubt he'd be the top guy on Idzik's board.

Or even 8. I have a problem with him at 1. Just to be clear. This is how rumors get started. I don't hate Clowney. Am not saying he's 100% going to bust. Just don't think he's worth the 1 overall pick. However goes 1 should try hard all the time. I don't think that's a crazy requirement.

BurnleyJet
If I was GM, and Bridgwater was available at 18, I'd trade the pick for a next years 1st round and this years 2nd/3rd rounder. A worse team with a QB need would jump all over him, and then when he's a bust (I strongly believe he will be), we can grab the high 1st round draft pick for next year That's would be ideal. flgreen
I could easily be wrong about this but I have a strong hunch that Idzik believes in Geno (at least right now - things could change after this season). In short, I'd guess that Idzik would trade down if Bridgewater were available at 18. Guess we just arrived at different conclusions of what happened in this off season. I came away with the exact opposite feeling of Idzik's belief in Smith. I just can't see a conservative GM like Idzik stepping into the controversy of bringing Vick into NY if he had faith in Smith. Think if Bridgewater is there, as JiF said,I take the calls, if someone offers the farm, you make the trade, otherwise you take the player. But as you said I could be wrong
