Maxman
Serious thread....some Mets fans are complaining but what does everyone really think. Are they headed in the right direction?
Matt39
They need hitters. The Granderson signing was silly...the rationalization behind it was silly too. He stunk last year.
T0mShane
Not buying in. They'll be .500 into July, then fall off. FU Wilpons.
RutgersJetFan
No complaints thus far. Recker and Eric Young have been pleasant surprises. I thought the rotation would be good even without Harvey, I'm not sure why people were sleeping on Gee going into the year, he was better than Harvey after the break last season. Wheeler is clearly making progress and Niese needs to stay healthy. More rando thoughts: If the defense and starting pitching can keep it going, it should be an interesting season. I don't think the bullpen at its current rate is sustainable, the lack of talent will eventually catch up to us eventually. I hope the guy we got in exchange for Davis is useful. Collins has done a really great job with the lineups and in game management. We're 3 games over .500 at 25 games in even with the offense being bad, I think a lot of that is testament to him. There's an ethic to this year's team that seems to have been absent in years past, they're fighting harder and playing off their strengths (pitching and defense) efficiently. He's played his double switches very well and made good use of D'Arnoud and Recker. Lagares should give us a nice little jolt once he gets back. Granderson should get it together in time, at least into the mid .200s, switching leagues is always a quirky thing and Citifield is a tricky field to figure out for hitters. He was actually out here in Chicago at UIC a couple weeks back before the Atlanta series. Guy shelled out $5 million for a new stadium for the school, which is also going to be used by rec leagues throughout the city. Great guy, I'm pulling for him. Everyone benefits when athletes like that succeed. Pleasant season so far as a fan. If we can finish above .500 that would be a big step in the right direction. slowmoe57
The Bullpen will always scare me but so far they are holding their own. The hits will start to come but to me the worse thing to happen to the Mets in the last 6 years was Citi Field. I am rooting hard the Collins prediction of 90 wins comes thru. I believe out starting rotation will be the best In Baseball in the next year or 2. We just need some Hungry players not the under achieving a-holes we had several years ago. faba
The Mets history has been built on solid pitching and defense as a philosophy. They need more position players that are solid to really compete but I hope they can hang in there and be competive through the summer. Solid pitching gives them the chance to do that
WWWWombat
Mets aren't going to be good this year imo, but Alderson's got a good track record. The rotation is shaping up nicely for the foreseeable future. When Harvey recovers and Wheeler has matured a bit, they'll be pretty tough.

faba
Montero has nothing left to prove in Triple A- he has done well there- so time to give him an opportunity in the majors
