GlennFoley
I think he'd be a fine pick if he slipped to #4 Agree, Everyone here thinks hes Aaron Brooks because hes black, and around the same height.. Its ridiculous.. Aaron Brooks is an underacheiver.. VY reminds me of a Randall Cunningham or Warren Moon more then Aaron Brooks..

Barton
He has a horrible release, crappy footwork, and isnt accurate. And he wont be a big time running QB in the NFL, he's not that fast or agile like Vick. He's a project if he comes out this year.
The Troll
I don't want Vince Young because I want my team to have a QUARTERBACK. Not an over-rated highlight reel that will choke against every good NFL defense he faces. I do not want a Michael Vick on the Jets, much less a poor man's Michael Vick. Jetidiah Springfield
I have to admit that I've been scanning all of these Jets sites for quite some time now (You don't get much J-E-T-S coverage down here in the great state of TX). I used to read Jetsinsider religiously, but it looks like anyone who's opinion I repected has since moved over here. That is until I start reading all of this b.s. about Vince Young being a "poor man's Mike Vick" and "just a running quarterback." If, and I mean if, Vince does enter the draft, he's certainly worth a look. HE CAN THROW THE FOOTBALL YOU KNOW (168.56 passer rating, 63.9% completion rate, 2769 yards passing, 26 TDs). Not only is he an unbelievable talent, but he is a leader. He carries the University of Texas football team much like Chad carried the Jets when he was healthy. He makes everbody around him better and has grown leaps and bounds from last year. But, don't take it from me...watch for yourself tomorrow night. madmike1
vince isn't the right pick for the jets. he's too much of a project. it will be 2+ years before he becomes a front line QB. we need help NOW.

He's Aaron Brooks with a HUGE salary cap number and this has NOTHING to do with his race. Both have cannons Both can run Both are not too intelligent in their decision making Both are NOT accurate. He'd be an AWFUL pick at #4 unless he wants to play WR.
StillerPaul
I think he'd be a fine pick if he slipped to #4 Damn, i thought i was the only one who liked him, too. Good thread. I actually like him better than Matt Leinart. He has a stronger arm, more mobility and is more accurate than people think IMO. I love his competitiveness as well. I think he'll be a good 1. Jetidiah Springfield
if you guys pay attention to basketball i compare him to marvin williams, you draft him based on potential rather than present skills, definately not what we need... Then what do we need, Kerry Collins? Aaron Brooks? Patrick Ramsey? Rehab Drew Brees? Rehab Chad? Rehab Fiedler? Brooks Bollinger? Like it or not, this is a quarterback league and right now we don't have a leg (or rather arm) to stand on. We are in horrible shape at the most important position in the game. Our team had an identity and an attitude when Chad was healthy and that's what having a leader can do for a team. We need to realize that although we love him, Chad's pretty much on his way out. He's almost 30 yrs old and coming off of his second season-ending surgery. This team could certainly use Vince Young. Now, I know he's said that he's coming back for his senior season, but Vince has been more and more vague about his future as the Rose Bowl nears. My gut feeling is that if takes over this game and wins the national championship, his stock will have shot up too high for him to risk another year in college. He could be considered a top 5 pick (possibly #4).

Franchise LT, maybe. Peyton Manning, LT - definitely. A college QB w/questionable throwing ability - no way.

LionelRichie
So, I guess we settle for mediocrity? at this point mediocrity would be a step up. personally, i am on the schaub bandwagon. either schaub or a mid-round pick. look at what the browns did with Charlie Frye, 3rd round pick - no $20M signing bonus. i either want a qb capable of starting (manning, palmer, etc..) or a mid-round pick with potential that does not kill the cap (frye, brady, brees). what is wrong with that? there is no freaking way the jets can afford $35+M Bonus with the backup QB. there are way to many holes to fill. There's definitely nothing wrong with that, I just think Vince is the real deal and not a project. Look, Brady was a ridiculous steal, Brees was not a mid-round pick (try 1st pick in 2nd round), and Frye..come on man. I'm just saying that the sooner we can admit that we made a mistake with Chad and bite the bullet to bring in a leader and bring in some excitement, the better off we will be. Face it, we've got QB & RB problems and maybe picking Vince at #4 could be the equivalent of killing two birds with one stone. Even Woody's cheap ass shouldn't pass up this two-for-one special. And if you want to talk about Quarterbacks, I've got a few for you- Leftwich (picked #7), Roethlisberger (picked #11), Eli (those Giants gave up the world for him), and Palmer (picked #1). All of these QBs were drafted by teams investing in their future to solidify the QB position and shockingly all of them are enjoying post season life.
