ESPN.com doesn't think the Jets are good enough for Herm

In Kansas City, there's a team that's better, younger and more talented than the Jets. Dick Vermeil has left his program in good shape, left it in the hands of a good GM in Peterson. Trent Green and Larry Johnson are a profoundly more appealing backfield than what's left of Chad Pennington and Curtis Martin. The Jets are the home office for bizarre departures, beginning with Bill Parcells and Al Groh and immortalized by Bill Belichick.

The Jets lose coaches the way kids lose balloons at the state fair. They just fly away. Edwards used a Jets news conference several weeks ago to throw out the possibility of pursuing the Chiefs vacancy, suggesting that perhaps he wouldn't be wanted with the Jets. He was angling for a contract extension, believing he's underpaid with two years left at $2 million apiece.

Wow, these two paragraphs sum up the Jets organization perfectly.

Why does Hermy think he is underpaid?

Especially after leading the Jets to a 4-12 record.

The article is nothing more than a bad attempt to overshadow Herm's lack of football 101.

Yeah, okay, Herm's a good guy...so freaken what! I want a coach who beats his dog at the end of the day...I want a coach who curses like a sailor...I want a coach who doesn't play favorites...I want a coach that...well, you know where I'm coming from.

I'm just tired of watching Sunday after Sunday a HC with that "who farted" look just about every damn play.

All these "Herm is Christ" stories-do these guys watch any Jets games?

BoooooHoooooo

Maybe they actually know something...That Herm is a decent coach, and the face of the franchise

Whereas Bugg will continue to rip this coach, and any other coach we hire

A decent HC?

Dude, the guy has a losing record in his 5 years as HC of the NYJ all topped off last year by the 3rd worst record in the entire NFL.

Yea, he's a "decent" coach alright.

The guy is a decent coach, even a stupid moronic dumbass like yourself Tex, can even see that

If an overall losing record, same stupid mistakes over and over again and no AFC Championship game appearnces is the standard of a "decent" coach, then I agree, he is decent.

By "decent" you mean under .500? Just be mediocre, BABY! It's over, Johnny-OVER! And your beloved Hermie is skipping town, leaving you and Mark Cannizaro heartbroken after LYING through his teeth for 2 months. But mostly he's motivated by simple unadulterated GREED. A profile in courage he's not.I'm happy he'll be gone.

Please-Johnny-don't short out your keyboard with all your tears.

New coach, open mind.

Hey Buggy

Lets make something perfectly clear

Herm ain't gone yet. And if he goes, WITH COMPENSATION, I have no problem with that. the problem with Herm going, so does Donnie. That is where the problem lies. I'd hate to see us revert to the Ted Cottrell days.

The problem I have is the replacement. I'd have to imagine you'll have a problem with his replacement too, it what you "glass half empty" guys do

No, JEJ. I have a totally open mind with a new coach. Wait and see. Who ever it is has their work cut out. The Jets could have a record of 6-10 in 2006 and still be a qualified success going forward. And they won't be wedded to the various old, slow and expensive guys Edwards has favored at the expense of the team as a whole.

Extending Edwards any further is throwing good money after bad. If he has his eyes elsewhere or wants to renegotiate again while he has a valid signed 2-year contract like a common trollop, he's done he no matter what.

I guess not everyone else in the NFL thinks Herm is as bad as the Jet boards.

Hmmm..

BZ

i am sur ethey dont.

but we get to see EVERY play in the Jets season and have a different perspective.

We know what could have been over the last few years without the Scarecrow (before meetin the Wizard),,

like maybe home field advantage via better game management

Duly noted- we have one whiny reporter in New Jersey who thinks Herman is a swell human being. He says little about his coaching ability. Read it again- Adrian Wojarnowksi says zero about Edwards' accomplishments nor what is so great about him as a football coach.

Notice though-Edwards isn't stepping up to stop any of this. Which is all it would take. In fact, he lied 2 months ago and has kept lying about it, all with his eyes on Arrowhead. Except for sending his agent and his reporter pals out to demand he get a new contract, even though he has a valid 2-year contract he signed and agreed to coming off 6-10 in 2003. He's a common whore, not a "different kind of coach". And if this is all smoke drummed up by him and his agent to push for a new contract, it's worse than that.
