mbn007
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/379860p-322558c.html My question is why? Here is a guy, a nice player, but one who is 37. He never was a power hitter until the past 6 years or so, and struggled big time last season. He would seem to be someone who picked up steroids, and then dropped them the past year or so. I do not want to accuse him of anything, but........... For the Mets fans out there, explain this potential signing. Please.
GimmeShelter
Will be a no risk deal. Probably a Minor League signing and invite to spring training. If by some stroke of luck he pans out, great. If not he simply gets released.

NorthCoastJetsFan
I hear you. But I still say...........why bother?? Long time Mets fan, and I agree with you. I would only do this if I thought he was better than Kaz Matsui. He's not. If they're looking for a second baseman, I'd prefer giving Keppinger or Hernandez a shot. faba
Every team looks for a gem in their minor league contract signings so to me it is not a big deal if Mets sign him in that respect. Hernandez and Marlon Anderson turned out last year with this approach The latest that I read the Mets are willing to eat 4-5 million to get rid of Matsui

If I was Omar, I would rather give the job to the rookie, especially since he is reputed to be an excellent fielder. Any hitting would be a bonus. MBN I agree I would like to see Keppinger get a chance also-reminded me of Wally Backman with his play two years ago-
