CORTLAND, N.Y. -- It's been a rough 12 months for Dexter McDougle, the cornerback the Jets selected out of the University of Maryland in the third round of this year's draft.

Last September, McDougle sustained a brutal shoulder injury that kept him out of his final 12 college games and limited him for a spell during organized team activities this spring with the Jets.

Now he's got a torn ACL in his left knee that figures to keep him out of his entire rookie season.

McDougle was not made available to the media after he got hurt at practice Sunday, but he just took to Twitter to react to the injury—and to the support he's been getting.

Looks like the draft day curse continues......................

Dexter McDougle

The Jets received bad news today as Dexter McDougle tore his ACL during practice. Rex Ryan explained when the injury happened, “it was during one-on-one’s in the red zone and apparently he just came down and a cleat got caught. That is what I understood.”  The NY Jets confirmed the severity of the injury.

Cornerback remains a position of concern for the Jets. McDougle played well in the Jets first preseason game against the Colts. Now the 3rd round pick out of the University of Maryland will rehab and he is expected to miss the entire season.

You know what? He passed on a huge crop of quality CBs, he's still sitting on a huge pile of cash, and this is where the Jets are at the position. So yeah, thanks.

Like I said in another thread, it's super double-secret not Rex's fault if we miss the playoffs now.
