We Suck Again!!

This is a roster that, like the Niners and Seahawks from five years ago, a new coach will inherit and make look better. Rex doesn't develop players. It's the lament of every bad coach--they didn't have the players. Good coaches produce good players.

rex's biggest flaw is his good old boy tough guy crap where his team fights and gets a ton of penalties, looks undisciplined and ragged, and he thinks the refs blew it, his guys did nothing wrong, and he is stoked they didn't take any crap

he can coach and teach his ass off

he just loves his guys too much, and can't be the cool calculating executive that benches a guy when it is needed

in fact, it's the reason the ravens didn't promote him, he is too close to his players

This is such bullsh*t. For every player any coach has ever developed, there is one they didnt develop...if not more. You cant coach and develop the suck out of people. You need the talent.

And thats besides the fact he does produce good players.

He's six years in and all he's got to show for it is a nice D-line. He's a DL coach. At every other position, the faces change and the results are the same. It's time to start considering that Rex's program is flawed and it's not producing the players. They're not learning, they're not developing, and it's because there's no leadership. If your friend was your boss, you'd never work as hard.

I agree. He's not willing to be unpopular. He's afraid of looking like the bad guy.

You're right.  There isnt a single player on the team outside of the DL that is learning, developing and getting better.  None.  Not one. In fact, no one has ever succeed under Rex Ryan.

Maybe you'd never work as hard for your friend, but that speaks more of your character then the situation. The people who work hardest for me are the ones I am friendliest with. There's a reason successful companies spend a ton on team building

I work for someone who I'd consider a close friend.  I'm the #1 producer in my office.

This is where you tell me that Demario Davis is Brian Urlacher.

No, I'm agreeing with you..  There isnt a single player under Rex Ryan who has benefited from his coaching other than a DL player.  Not one.

I am still down for at least 9 wins. I don;t care what happens in these games. But it is just a little infuriating that we do not draft a real pass rushing linebacker. Have we been Gholston-ized? Pace got some garbage sacks last year and they added up. Think he will do that this year?

This team is talent deficient. Getting a better corner this offseason was not going to fix all the problems that exists on this team there are holes everywhere. The offseason approach of taking the long-term view puts a lot of pressure on drafting well and the problem is that it looks pretty bad in that regard right now.  The draft picks, even if they're snake bitten with injuries, just don't look like they have much upside as playmakers. For a franchise in year 2 of a rebuild, that's really bad.

idk if that's true. pryor looks like he has tons of upside. Richardson is going to be an all-pro. the problem right now is that the team looks like sh*t

In the first quarter you really had two plays that decided the quarter. Wilson sucking on the TD pass to Sanu, and Allen being a first time corner against a top 5 receiver who caught a 40 yard pass that put them in the red zone. The bengals are a good team. One of the most underrated defenses and of the best offenses in the game. without those two plays, were we really outplayed that much? The answer is no. It was one of the best offenses going up against our 2nd string CBs.

We have to chill with the penalties though, that'll be the death of us. The officiating was dogsh*t but seriously, why is demario davis pushing the backup quarterback back to the ground?-after he just got laid out for the second time by DD. Rex needs to figure out a way to for the guys to fix that. I think we knew coming in about Breno though, he'll have a lot this year. Lol, I remember the Jets posting a highlight video of Breno when we first signed him and it was 3 plays and he held in every single play.

they put up 14 points and about 15 yards in one quarter against our 3 points and interception. yes we were outplayed badly.....

So minus those two plays I mentioned, what do you actually have to say? Because those two plays lead to those points, and they were huge plays. And the pick was both Geno's and Nelson's fault.

eh

What we learn so far

DL - has not shown too much yet but overall the feeling is sh be better than last year on experience alone

LB - hard to gauge so far but Davis does look better and Harris looks solid.  The only OLB that has shown any thing so far is 2nd/3rd team IK (who I like - hope he makes it)

DB - worse than last year so far if that possible

S/FS - looks promising and some team is going make off with one of our cast always (ditto lb)

QB - better than last and that is mostly because of Vick.  I see Smith's biggest issue as it was last year...accuracy esp on 20yds or more.

RB - better than last year and I like Johnson but I wish they had spent a high pick on RB instead - now we will probably have to cut a good Dev player in another position

FB - eh

WR - have not seen much since they really don't have many passing yards so far.  Decker, Keeley,Hill,Nelson have looked OK so far.  Maybe they will put it together next game.

OL - overall looks better and I have to say ODay looked good in place of winters but I think we got worse at RT from what I have seen thus far.

Overall based on what we have seen thus far from starters there is really nothing to get too excited about.  Hopefully they can put it together.

I think we're in a really good position year two of a rebuild. I think we could make a run for a wild card. Not much more you can ask for in a rebuild.

I think the plan this year was to improve the depth, and next year will be the expensive shiny toy year.

I agree.  We are better than we were last year at this time.  I'd go as far as saying much better.  Geno is actually looking off safeties and throwing to the other side.  He's going through his reads.  Harris still sucks in pass coverage. He gets beat for a first down at least once a game.  He's a huge liability.  I think when the real season comes along things will tighten up all around.

actually it wasn't just 2 plays. Dalton was 8/8 for 143 yards and a touchdown. perfect day for him. they basically did what they wanted, with little resistance from us. and against their first team defense we did little to talk about.

One simple case; how does Rex not see Woodhead is a player?

Keeps coming back to an indifference to offense, not grasping the need to pass effectively, trying to pretend all the pass-oriented rule changes haven't happened, tying to get by with an offense that doesn't do much other than hopefully not turn the ball over and run the clock. There's a mindset under RYan that the rest of the NFL is crazy to pass, and well illteya we can stop anyone, offense be damned. It's not gonna work.

they smoked an experimental secondary ravaged with injuries.  seriously.  dalton is legit, and he has a stable of studs.  what were your expectations going into the game ?   antonio allen shuts down AJ ?  seriously ?

That's silly like Ryan had much of a choice when his boss drafts the mad puker just like does Ryan have much a choice in Geno last year..he prob tho Sanchez was going to slam dunk the qb situation in that giants game but he seems like his actions are dictated because he keeps having to look over his shoulders because of bad personal choices

all cuts are orginizational decisions from the position coaches to coordinators to the HC to the GM.  How did tanny get talked into letting him go ?  you can cut that cake any way you like and blame whoever suits you.  simple fact of the matter is he was number casualty and they needed specials teams help from the back ups.

rex is a defensive innovator.  he attacks pass protections with on pre-snap illusions and shifting that didn't exist until he did it.  do you really think a guy who can attack pass protections schemes pretends the rules don't exist ?

wtf are you talking about ?

Rex's biggest flaws come down to being too loyal for his own good and lack of accountability for the offense and QB.  to so he doesn't understand the rules or the value in scoring points is just being hysterical for the sake of it.

they hired MM to have a more aggressive offense.  to say otherwise is just ignorant.  He had a rookie QB with no weapons last year, so they ran a lot.  this year they will do more MM stuff, the screen game and play action bombs.

they ran 2 play action bombs in the first 2 series last night and scored on a bubble screen

did you watch the game ?

It's about not really caring about the offensive side of the ball. We joke about ground and pound; but this is what Ryan, like his dad, really thinks. There's a reason Peyton Manning ruled out signing here immediately. Somebody has been telling the OC to run the ball and don't turn it over for the last 6 seasons. Will grant you I don't think much of the QBs we've had. But even if they were worth a damn this HC doesn't appreciate passing offense. In the 2014 NFL this is a major problem. Everyone else is slinging it around all preseason and the Jets are "establishing the run". Really WTF are they doing on offense? One good reason I'd rather see Vick is he might be more inclined to audible than run twice, throw an incompletion and then punt every series.

big difference.

that secondary won't play in the opener, so how does it matter anyway ?

Lol his dad had cunningham ?  Don't make up sh*t to make an arguement!  Cunningham was Michael Vick version 1.

its a preseason game most of the starters don't really care to play hard and risk getting hurt because nothing is on the line except for their money. if we start getting destroyed in the first couple of regular season games I would begin to worry. also Dalton is a good qb that is kind of under rated and the bengals have AJ Green who is a top quality WR all togeather the bengals are a good team and will be hard to beat in the regular season anyway. don't lose your faith yet just do what a good jets fan does anyway listen to all of the reporters tell you how sh*tty the team is going to be and laugh when the jets come up higher than expected

I did. The Jets' ones were getting crushed. Heard Marty Lyons and Anthony Munoz confirm that the Nengals pulled their 1s at 17-3, the Jets did not. It's not hysteria, it's who the guy is.It's 6 goddamn seasons; is he not accountable for another putrid offense? ANd I'll grant you it's bizarre that a defensive coach is indifferent to his team's offense because really he spend so much time stopping the other offense you would think it meshes well. It was the case with Tom Landry, Parcells, Bellicheat. But it's not with Ryan, as it wasn't for his dad.

I have nothing against MM, and imagine he's trying tof the best he can. But there's little reason to think the outcome will be any different than with Schitty or Sparano. We went through this OC merry go round with that other brilliant defensive genius Herman Edwards. I'll grant you Ryan is better, but tis' faint praise. Ands we know how this ends.

You can read a book about it as I did and I watched it unfold. Same idea-Daddy Ryan lost the offense, spent his days crowing about his defense. Which is also how his dad got fired in Arizona. But why let facts get in the way.A great read about the NFL.
