Should Idzik try to trade for Josh Gordon?

We have Kenrick Ellis who Pettine might want along with a draft pick.

Imagine our offense with Gordon #1 WR and Decker #2

Browns coach Mike Pettine criticized Josh Gordon's effort in Monday's preseason game.

Gordon noticeably loafed on two targets against the Redskins. "There were a couple plays where I think ... that we would have definitely wanted better effort," Pettine said. "We would want regular season effort to match preseason effort." It's a convenient excuse, but it's quite possible Gordon's impending suspension is weighing on him. His appeal will supposedly be decided before the end of the week.

Worse case scenario he's suspended the first 4 games.

That woul actually be the best case scenario, since the precedent is set at s full season.

NFL is fragging its feet with his suspension for one reason. They are waiting to see if Manziel can become something this year. If so, suspension gets knocked down. If not, one year.

Not sure shy you started this back up. They aren't trading the guy.

Agree. It's the only explanation for Manziel not being suspended already. Unless we are to believe that, after seeing the pic of him rolling that 20 in a Vegas casino men's room, Goodell had a good reason for saying, "Nah, let's not drug test him."

No, he isn't. That's my point.

There was a picture of him rolling a 20 in a Vegas casino men's room. Maybe you saw it (like everyone else in America). I'm quite sure Goodell saw it. Yet no "random" drug test for Manziel, and therefore no suspension.

That's a brilliant football response what would this site do without posters like you?  Lucky we have football minded people who see based on the story Pettine is not happy with Gordon.

A move of this caliber would benefit this team as long as its cap friendly.

I just don't get how this is even a question.

Either he's suspended long term and we shouldn't trade for him because he's useless to us, or he's not suspended long term and there's no chance in hell Cleveland trades him.

Cleveland Browns star wide receiver Josh Gordon has been suspended one year for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, a league source has confirmed to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Gordon acknowledged that the league upheld his suspension in a statement released Wednesday by the NFL Players' Association.

"I'd like to apologize to my teammates, coaches, the Cleveland Browns organization and our fans," Gordon said in the statement. "I am very disappointed that the NFL and its hearing office didn't exercise better discretion and judgment in my case. I would like to sincerely thank the people who have been incredibly supportive of me during this challenging time, including my family, my agent, my union, my legal team, and the Cleveland Browns staff."
