why play prevent? good QBs eat it up. Bad QBs do better against it. You are chasing eli all over the field. Why stop? I know it is pre season, but I also know they will do this kind of sh*t in the regular season. It is the kind of D I might use with 30 seconds left and the ball on their 40.

The Achillies heel of the jets under Ryan-not much of a lead despite a dominant half. Simply they do not get in the end zone enough. Not to say Smith played badly, but the offense is gonna hold them back.

Plus, the defense can hold for 28 of 30 minutes and then can't close. They always allow that late, desperation drive to end in a score for the opposition.

it's almost like they feel that 10 points will be enough b/c the defense is playing tough and then this stuff always seems to happen when they think like that.

it seems like there is a mindset of defensive cockiness and then they have to fight for their lives-too bad our OC wasn't the HC and the HC just was the DC

Again the offense hasn't been terrible, but the should be able to break the Jints here. May be they will in the 3rd. But one decent Jints drive and it's tied or worse. Without looking at the stat sheet suspect spare that last Jints drive they were pretty awful. How much can you ask a defense to do? They need a bigger margin for error  especially if the CBs are gonna be rough.

Meh. I'll take Rex and his flaws as a HC every day over Morninwheg as head coach. The roles are appropriate given the two individuals we're talking about.

C'mon, what are you even talking about? They had a huge downfield completion to Kerley called back for holding and you're making it sound like they scored 10 points and started doing up the gut run-run-run-punt.

Are you sure you're watching the same game as the rest of us?

I don't think it's asking a lot for the defense to hold a 10 point lead going into the half, against a team with a terrible offense, with under 2 minutes on the clock. I don't think that's asking a lot at all... especially of a defensive-led team that's supposed to be one of the best in the league.

Would bet the jJets coaches are pretty happy except that last Jints drive.

If you're the Jints' CS, you may be getting your resume together sooner rather than later. if they lose Shwartz for an extended time Mnning is going to get hurt because their Ol is terrible enough.

They always seem to play like this.  They really think 13-10 will get it done.   The problem is this Jets defense isn't that great defense it was in the past, and in the past it wasn't as great as some other great defenses.  It's why they wound up losing to the Colts and Steelers.   Rex is like his father in a way where he expects 13-10 games all the time.     He can't handle it if the other team scores 28 points.

it's only preseason, but tonights game probably should be 21-7 or something.  The Giants suck as a team.   Maybe they get better, but so far this preseason Eli and that offense has sucked and the defense hasn't looked great.   But Rex and the Jets always seem to play the same way.   Score 13 points, hope the other team only scores 10.   It's also why they always finish around 8-8.    One bad play or lucky play and suddenly you lose 17-13.    When you should have won 28-17.

Of course they do, except that they don't because the game doesn't count. Winters cost a 40 yard play. But since it doesn't count, and I'm much more concerned about Smith than Winters, it didn't bug me nearly as much as an interception despite a perfect pocket by the OL.

Besides, you were clearly framing it like they were sitting on a small lead and they weren't.  The scoreboard doesn't matter; it's preseason. Plus we're down to our #5-7 CBs out there vs the Giants' starters. Chillax.

a smart coach would just sit the starters like chip kelly did last night

rex will run them into the ground to win the snoopy bowl

dare we watch to see the tragic result ?

Yeah Sanchez hurts shoulder last season.    Lets hope he learned his lesson.

The problem is the Jets have no legit starting CBs.  So this team really can't say "this is the 5-7 corners" because many of these guys might be starting or playing a signification amount of time.    Patterson is always injured, Wilson sucks and Milliner is still injured and who knows what he's going to have when he comes back.     So assuming the Jets will magically have a bunch of starting CBs one day is just a dream, not reality.
