BroadwayJoe12
Not surprising and while it's certainly hypocritical, you're gonna have a tough time finding someone famous in sports who doesn't denounce woman-beating on one hand and then party or glad-hand the Mayweathers, Kobes, Jason Kidds etc. of the world. You'll see guys like Lebron talk out against Ray Rice's actions, but then go out and party it up with Money Mayweather like he's his brother. People compartmentalize, it's f*cked up, but it's how it goes.

Jolot
If mayweather walked into the Ravens locker room tomorow he would be treated like a hero and every guy In that room would be tripping over themselves to post a selfie with him...but like you said that's how it goes I guess

Kleckineau
Nothing new here. The legendary Jim Brown became a movie star and a voice for black pride despite his well known "hands on" approach with the women.

RutgersJetFan
I remember when Floyd fought Chico after the latter beat up his pregnant girlfriend, said he was going to beat him on behalf of every battered woman out there. What a hero.
BroadwayJoe12
I remember when Floyd fought Chico after the latter beat up his pregnant girlfriend, said he was going to beat him on behalf of every battered woman out there. What a hero. Yep, I forget the intro music, but he did everything in his powers the months leading up to the fight it to get into Chico's head. It's the same for pretty much anyone with money, but it's laughable at how the boxing commission suspends Chavez Jr. and Casamayor for positive marijuana tests and Mayweather gets to skate for his transgressions. Corruption in boxing is no big secret, just sucks at how one of the best sports is run by a bunch of god damned crooks. As a huge fan, pretty sure you know better than anyone on here about that though.

Corruption in boxing is no big secret, just sucks at how one of the best sports is run by a bunch of god damned crooks. As a huge fan, pretty sure you know better than anyone on here about that though. Absolutely. Boxing is a very defensive sport when it comes to its top fighters and excuses way too much. I could list fighters for days that should have been banned from the ring, but promoters saw dollar signs so that's all that mattered. Seediest sport in the world, with some real dark underpinnings that still go on today, sh*t that the general public still can't really fathom because it's a street sport. The problem with Floyd is that he's been such a cash cow for Vegas and the sport for so long. You look at the top 6 or 7 grossing fights of all time and Floyd has got at least 3 of those, one of which earned the #1 slot only last fall. That's all that matters for these guys, way more so than any other sport. Drugs seem to be the one exception in this regard. Big time effort to crack down on any and everything. Even weed. Had a bunch of scandals and a few guys die over the past several years, so it shined a spotlight on things.

How many people have paid for one of his paper per views? I think ESPN said he had four domestic violence arrests/reports. One included using a gun. Bugg
good call about mayweather ...he's a seriel women beater of the highest level and every athlete fawns over him.. At a loss how any TV company is business with Mayweather. The guy is a serial abuser. Boxing has become a non sport a long time ago because of all the nonsense. But how anyone can buy any PPV even involving him is revolting.

Klecko73isGod
If Vick can play again then so can Rice. Woof Woof Again, I do not in any way condone Vick's actions, but he was suspended for two years, one of which was spent in prison. Comparing Ray Rice to Michael Vick is like comparing apples to bowling balls. These are hardly equivalent situations.

Jetsfan80
I do wish we hadn't signed Vick though. Before that happened, the worst thing on our roster was Holmes (subsequently cut) and Cromartie having a harem and trying to rival Genghis Khan for descendants. Meanwhile the Saints had Bountygate, Hernandez killed a dude, the Dolphins had bullying, Rice slapped a woman around (as did the 49ers Ray McDonald, only this woman was pregnant), but we're the Circus because Rex Ryan thinks we're good and we once employed a good Christian dude as a fake punt specialist. Yeah, ok.
