Is Young Vick Part 2?

I know everyone is going to be running up the stock of Young after a great game last night but...do you think he will be a successful NFL qb? I am not so sure but then again I think Vick is overrated. I still have concerns about his passing and accuracy.

I have to give credit to Young for playing a great game- I have been saying all along that he is not going to be the next great QB to come out- his accuracy and touch is lacking in most of the games I have seen him the last two years.

One thing to remember you can not teach physical ability which Young obviously has - maybe some coach can correct his throwing flaws

Vince Young = Michael Vick Part 2

You are correct by thinking so.

Anyone who believes Vince Young will be anything in the NFL is foolish and I just pitty your mind. Young is NOTHING. He's just like Vick. Over-rated by many and will never bring a team to the Super Bowl.

what are you talking about?...he is nothing?...he singlehandedly led his team to a national championship running AND throwing against a team that was billed as one of the greatest of all time...vick never did that, and is 5 inches shorter, far less tough, and far less of a leader than vince...vince young is a stud.

Vince Young's strengths:

Size

Speed

Leadership qualities

Vince Young's weakness:

Acurracy

Throwing technique (throws practically sidearm)

Footwork (both feet are pointing at the goal line at release)

The bottom line is Matt Leinart is alot more NFL ready than Vince Young. He can be a quality starter in the league by year 2 or 3. He won't be elite, but he can reach the level of say Matt Hasselbeck or Drew Brees.

Vince Young's weaknesses will be glaring against the NFL early on. His running style is alot more like McNabb and Culpepper than it is like Vick's in the fact that it is power and speed vs. speed and quickness. He'll be able to run well in the NFL, but not any better than McNabb does.

Passing is where he will have a problem. His accuracy is by no means aweful, but it is far from perfect. A pass that is 6 inches off target in college is likely still a completion. In the NFL it is likely knocked down, intercepted, or is enough to throw the timing off the receiver and make it difficult to get YAC. He is very tall so a sidearm delivery is less apt to hurt him than other QB's, but don't forget that NFL D lineman are also quite tall and he is apt to have alot of passes knocked down.

If he learns to be a better passer with good mechanics and footwork, he can be extremely dangerous in the NFL. If he doesn't then he will be the next running QB that never was able to win the big one in the NFL.

That's all well and good that he won a National Championship...it's a shame that that is COLLEGE FOOTBALL. We're talking about what kind of pro he will be. He will be NOTHING as a pro. If anything, he will be just like Michael Vick.

He's 5 inches taller? Big whoop. Height doesn't mean anything.

young will be better than vick because Young can throw the ball. Young i think will be a better fit on the Jets becuase he makes something out of broken plays, and by the way this season looked, we're going to have a lot of them.

Michael Vick has a cannon with good mechanics. He makes poor decisions and his accuracy leaves alot to be desired.

Vince Young has a good arm with horrible mechanics. His accuracy is so-so at best, and his decision making skills are also questionable. USC's D is garbage and they were starting 2 LB's right out of high school. Against Ohio State Vince Young looked alot more inferior and that is a much better measure of how he will matchup against NFL D's. He has a boat load of improvement to make before he can be a quality NFL starter.

Vince Young can be a great QB. He has all the physical tools and ability but he still has to read NFL defenses. His physical abilities will help him while he learns...

Vick is good and still young but he thinks he is better than he is. Sometimes I don't think he has the "desire" to get to the next level.

If I was in a rebuilding mode like SF, NO, I would take Young. If I had a team like the Ravens, Bears or Cowboys I would take a guy like Matt Leinhart. I don't necessarily mean those teams but teams in situations like that. A total rebuild = Young a situation where the QB is the missing piece = Leinhart.

Reggie Bush did nothing that would lower his stock however Lenale White imprived his stock
