AFJF
Okay, all the long time (and not so long time) Guns N Roses fans have heard a million times over the past DECADE that the LONG awaited "Chinese Democracy" would be released on such and such a date. Over time I've learned to take all of it with a grain of salt because it's always from some source that would really have little to no inside info. However, I just got an email from somebody who picked up this interview with former GNR and current Velvet revolver guitarist, Slash. SLASH Talks About 'Chinese Democracy': Audio Available - Jan. 5, 2006 A podcast containing VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash's (ex-GUNS N' ROSES) interview with Philadelphia's WMMR radio station, conducted last week, has been made available for download at GMPPodcast.com. During the interview, Slash mentions the long-awaited GUNS N' ROSES album, "Chinese Democaracy", and indicates that the CD may finally see the light of day in March. An excerpt from the chat follows: Slash: "Axl's [Rose] got got a record coming out, GUNS, I guess you call it, I think in March. Which is sorta cool, you know it's gonna be interesting to hear it. After all this time and after all this talk what's going on with him." DJ: So wait, "Chinese Democracy" is gonna come out? Slash: "Yeah, it's coming out in March..." DJ: OK. Slash: "That's what... I've been told a lot of things over the years, but it definitely sounds like it's coming out in March." DJ: We've been waiting forever. Slash: "Which means VELVET REVOLVER probably in March, April, May. Will be coming out somewhere around that time. It'll be interesting." DJ: Yeah, I was gonna say your record will probably come out first. Slash: "No, no... Yeah, well. All things considered, it could. That could happen, but... Judging by, I think Axl's record is finished." More information on the WMMR podcasts is avalable at WMMR.com. Again, not getting my hopes up...but this is promising. AFJF
Could it be? http://www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/mndwebpages/axl%20rose%20promises%20guns%20return%20in%202006 GUNS N' ROSES frontman AXL ROSE is promising fans the rock group will be back in 2006 with the delayed CHINESE DEMOCRACY album. The NOVEMBER RAIN singer also admits he's considering festival appearances this summer (06). He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "People will hear music this year. "(Chinese Democracy) is a very complex record. I'm trying to do something different. Some of the arrangements are kind of like QUEEN." Rose reveals he is working on 32 songs for the album, 26 of which are finished. Of those, 13 are slated for the final album. Track titles include BETTER, THERE WAS A TIME and THE BLUES. The group's last release of new material was the 1993 covers album THE SPAGHETTI INCIDENT.

Alk
After 10 years, there is no possible way this album is going to live up to expectations. It's going to absolutely bomb. Axl should have stayed in hiding, everyone had already forgotten about him, he had it made.

Axl should have stayed in hiding, everyone had already forgotten about him, he had it made. I'm going to be optomistic about the album myself. I've heard four songs from it and I really liked three of them. Of course there will always be the "I'm too cool for GNR" crowd much like the fans who say that the new Metallica sucks. Some people have a real hard time dealing with change and in cases like Metallica, it's not that the new stuff sucks, it's just different from the old stuff. God forbid a band come out and prove to the world they're not a one trick pony.
Thor99
I am so looking forward to this. I have heard many of songs that are supposedly on this record. Madagascar is a great song. It's too bad Axl's voice is shot.

It's too bad Axl's voice is shot. I saw GNR twice when they had their "tour" a couple of years ago and Axls voice sounded better than it did back in the day IMO. A couple of friends that I went with agreed 100%, even more impressive than the sound was the energy. He's older but it was like he didn't get winded at any point during either of the shows. The ones that I've heard are from the Rock in Rio show. It was awful. Hopefully, he can get Buckethead back in the fold. That guy is the modern day Eddie Van Halen.
