How do we fix this mess?

This team needs a complete upheaval.  First, hire a real GM with football knowledge. Idzik has proven he is way way over his head. His 2 drafts have been abysmal.  His free agent signings (or lack of them) have been equally ridiculous.  Keep Idzik on as a capologist and hand over the real football stuff over to a proven winner like Gruden, Cowher or the like.

We must find a QB.  Geno Smith is not the answer. There are just no free agent QB's to sign that are worth it. We need to start over and draft a QB. Either Mariota, Cook or Petty. Winston is a risk. Stay away from risks.

We must find an elite WR with speed in the mold of an AJ Green, etc. Cooper from Alabama looks like the real deal. Add a free agent Randall Cobb, Dez Bryant, Mackilin, Crabtree, Demaryius Thomas.  All of these guys can spread the field.

We must fortify our OL, especially at the guard position.  Mangold and Brick aren't going anywhere as their contracts are an albatross.

We must find an OLB to rush the QB.

We must find 2 starting CB's.

There's also money coming off the books next year. Harris is more than likely a goner and please get rid of Wilson.  Vick's 5 mil also adds to the pot.

That's 7 key players. We have cap space, we will have high draft picks.  What we need is a leader.  Rex MUST GO. Enough is enough.

Idzik shouldn't be allowed to order lunch for the ticket staff let alone make any more draft picks or hire the next coach.

He is as big a buffon as Rex is. If he isn't stopped now, this team will continue to sink.

If you look at the rosters of other teams, they have stars or major contributors that were 3rd and 4th round picks...Step 1 you need to draft well, Step 2 you need to develop players. Step 3 you need to spend your cap $ wisely.  We're at the point due to bad FA signings and failed draft picks that this is no longer something that can be fixed in a year - it may take 2 or 3 10+ loss seasons to right the ship.

If you want to fix the team, hire someone to protect the football ops side from Woody Johnson. Go give Bill Parcells $10 mil, name him team president, and let him be the only guy in the organization with the ability to tell Woody to shut up. Idzik is not getting fired. Rex is.

You do a QB dance where you pray to the football Gods that a great QB falls in your lap. Other than that, you don't do anything. You keep the GM, you keep the HC, you keep the entire coaching staff, you keep prioritizing the defense.

Being good in the NFL is the same as getting rich by hitting the lottery, not making smart decisions and having qualified people in the right positions, ask the Rex lovers. Smart decisions and having qualified people in the right positions is like for nerds and stuff.

... Player development in Offense has been awful under Idzik and Tanny.  Kerley is the only late round player that has performed well. Couple that with Idzik's poor choices...( lets face it, he got Snookered on Dimitri; Geno and CJ2K;) , and Milliner was taken as 9th pick, even though he had 5 previous surgeries.   see more below...

Chris Johnson: While the offensive line was probably responsible for some of the problems, Johnson has looked like he is at the end of the line all year. He doesn't look dangerous with the ball. And today he ran the wrong way on a screen. The Jets are trying to get him the ball in space, but they can't if he does stuff like that. I'm starting to wonder whether he should be a healthy scratch going forward.

Chris Ivory: Not sure there was much room for him to run, but 7 yards on 8 carries says it all.

Greg Salas: He had a nice catch and run, but his only real skill is running after the catch. If you can't run good enough routes to get consistently open, you won't have many catches to run after. Your value is thus not great. That drop before the half was a killer too. It cost the Jets a potential field goal shot.

Walt Powell: He muffed a punt and might have gotten away with fumbling a kickoff. There wasn't a ton of impact to make up for those on his returns either.

I have no idea.  Truly, none whatsoever.

The only players on the entire roster, aside from those in the defensive front 7, that are definitely worth keeping, are:  Decker, Amaro, Pryor, and Ivory.  Other than that, it's aging veterans (see: D'Brick), question marks (see: Milliner), spare parts (see: David Nelson), and hot garbage (see: Brian Winters).
