Jets are in a win win scenerio...

The media is making a mess of the Herman Edwards situation in New York. Uncle Tom Edwards got caught putting his hand in the Kansas City cookie jar and must now deal with the consequences. If I were an owner and found out that my coach was silently bartering a deal with a rival team and talking smack out of both sides of his mouth, I'd fire him on principle alone.

If Uncle Tom Edwards goes, the Jets can benefit from this situation even if they do not receive compensation. They will save money on a clock management specialist, The next draft won't feature 5 defensive backs, management can take back control of a team that quit on them in 2005 and Kansas City will have a worse record than we do next year.

The Jets have a good nucleus of players. Everybody will be healthy next year and will actually go through a summer camp without Edwards's kinder care mentality.

In a round about way, you hit on some good points here.

For starters, it's key, financially, for the Jets to get this compensation thing done. If they get it done, they do not need to pay Edwards his $2M for 2006 and 2007. They can use that cash toward a new guy.

The biggest key in this post is the last sentence though. I th ink it's going to be HUGE to have a tough coach in here that works the players. He doesn't have to scream and yell, I don't care much about that. I just want a guy who is going to work the players, not let them have off every 3rd practice.

i still like mike singletary... i know he is unproven as a head...but what do we have to lose?? he is tough and well respected. Defense is his thing also.

i am assuming that if they dont promote either dinger or hendu... they are both gone too. dont heads bring in there own OC and DC?
