You wanted Herm gone, now he is and all the fans can do is call for the head of someone else and belittle Herm and what he did here. It makes me sick to be a Jet fan today about as bad as the day after the WSS went down or when the Jets signed up to be co-owners with the Gints. mudcat21
Just how did he prove that? By saying he wanted to be here when he had no intention of living up to the contract that he signed. He would have gone where ever the money was best and he probably had contact with KC while coach of the Jets. Thing is you shouldn't get rewarded for a 4 win season. Where did he have no intention of living up the contract? That is just "forum fact". His boss traded him away. If your boss let another firm come in and talk to you about hiring you away, what message would you get? This is a two way street and a divorce. Obviously they didn't agree and the needed to part. LionelRichie
BZ - you are the one who needs to look in the mirror. you are experiencing something known as 'escalation of commitment' meaning you have always supported herm and cannot rationalize that Herm is the fraud we have been claiming for the past few months. It's ok, i too was a herm supporter right up until the ravens game this year. the whole kc fiasco shows exactly what a fraud this man is and casts shadows on every spoken word from his mouth. he lied to the organization, the players, and the fans when he said he had a contract and he was coming back. the question you should be asking is at what point during the season did herm know he was going to KC and did he quit putting forth his best effort? how many games would the jets have won if they had a coach who was 100% committed to the franchise? herm should return the $$ he earned this year. total fraud. BZ i actually have no blame on Bradway at all,,, I think Bradway and Woody had thier hands tied by the fact that they didnt want Herm and KC knew it. In the average world they just fire him but to thier credit they actually got a draft pick and dont have to pay 4 million to Herm over next two years,, Her ewe agree BZ, 3 cheers for Bradway and Woody for fleecin KC and givin up somethin for a guy the owner had cleary tired of,,,

My gut tells me the new guy dinger has stepped around or over herm silently with the help of mgm't thru the course of the season. I never liked lamont collecting dust on the sidelines either btw. I don't know when the whole payhike thing came into play or any other details for that matter. I just think signals were sent to herm from mgm't before herm sent mgm't signals, thats all. while I like herm it was his time to go anyway so who cares how it transpired. Bugg
Stockholm syndrome n. A phenomenon in which a hostage begins to identify with and grow sympathetic to his or her captor. Seems to me a few people here came to identify more with Edwards than they cared about the team. And right now they're in complete denial. This "man" just pissed all over this franchise in Macy's window. He did the stuff of Terrell Owens; he didn't honor a valid agreed-to contract. He didn't live up to his obligations. He whined like a 6-year old, notwithstadning he go the job security he craved in 2003 coming off a 6-10 season. I don't know how any Chief in a contract dispute can take Edwards seriously. He's management, and apparently baed on how he dealt with vets here and this mess, he still looks at things like a player. That doesn't bode well for the Hunts and Carl Peterson. But they can now satisfy their man crush. Good luck(you'll need it) and good riddance. I'm a Jets fan, NOT Herman Edwards fan, based on the piss poor job he did here. I have an open mind who they bring in and we'll go from there. On Day 1, who ever it is, I'm rooting for success. I don't want to be in camps any more than you do. There's a lot of negative stuff here and everywhere about this team. For me, I'm done with it. You can aruge all day whether Bradway has done a good job or whether he got hosed in this.Who ever the GM is should do a good job-period. But as far as the team itself, I want to see it get younger and hungrier. And if that means a 6-10 season with real progress and a smart coach, I'm cool with that going forward. Because at this point, when rebuilding was a must given the cap, Pennington's injury and contract, Martin's surgery and contract, et al, this team needs a clean break. Edwards was going to try to patch it together for an improbable playoff spot. And that wasn't going to work and even he knew it. Which is why he slithered away.
