Green Jets & Ham
Instead of saying I don't want this coach or that coach I'll make it easy ... I don't want any coaches who have recently been fired for stinking out the Joint NO RETREADS and NO PROVEN FAILURES I want a hotshot coordinator {preferably Ron Rivera or Gary Kubiack}, or a hotshot College HC {Ferentz, Billotti, etc.} ... a possible diamond in the rough ... but no retreads / proven failures
NIGHT STALKER
GJH, would you consider Mike Sherman a failure? He has a better win/loss record then any HC we've ever had. I'd like to see us give this guy an interview at the very least...Kubiak I wouldn't mind either.

Green Jets & Ham
GJH, would you consider Mike Sherman a failure? YES He was the HC in GB long enough to get to a SB if he was anything special, but he didn't, and he had a HOF QB IMO Mike Sherman is Herm Edwards ... SAME GUY ... been there, done that I want an HC who has a chance to be special, and that means take us to the show

I just feel that of all the HC's that got canned, this guy (Sherman) has the best resume. Does that mean he can win us a SB? Who knows. Parcells couldn't win one for us either and he's probably the best HC we've ever had in my opinion.
madmike1
agreed on the haslett's and shermans of the world, but i wouldn't put Mike Tice in that catagory.

We do not need a coach that has already had their shot and blew it. Undoubtedly, they were in a better situation when they took over at their failed first job than they would be here. I also agree on Belotti. I haven't heard him mentioned as an NFL candidate, but I think he would be a great NFL head coach. He's great with young quaterbacks; he's turned Oregon into a force to be reckoned with; and he has balls. I remember against Oklahoma in the bowl game, he called a flea flicker when Oregon was in their own end zone. While that wouldn't fly in the NFL, Belotti just seems like a coach that would not call a draw on 3rd and 11.
haggis
Whoever it is will they have the balls to bench Pennington and sit Curtis? These 2 guys are not the future of the team. Curtis has given his all for the team and for that he will always be special for Jet fans, but the sun is setting on him. Pennington has been a jinxed fraud (although at 64M you almost HAVE to try him in 06).

Smizzy
above firentz? i don't know much about Ferentz. So yea. Rivera has proven himself to be worthy candidate and Kubiak resume speaks for itself. Both guys are NFl ready and know the league and the personal. Id would think they would be better suited to step in right now.
GreenBeans
Rivera & Kubiak would be 1 & 2 on my list. Reverse the order and it's my list. Tice is third, even if he is a retread.
Smizzy
Reverse the order and it's my list. Tice is third, even if he is a retread. Me too. Id much rather have Gary Kubiak. The man is a genius. You got a pulse? He can get 1,000 yards out of you. Rivera was a guy i liked when we signed hendu. I think he was the eagles LB coach then and has done an amazing job in Chicago. Both would make me super happy.

Smizzy
There isn't a HC out there who is going to retain this entire roster and push forward. Anybody who takes the job has to be given the green light to CUT THE FAT. A new HC is just the start. Be prepared for this roster to get an overhaul. We will lose players to our cap problems and we will lose guys our new HC don't want. Should be an interesting offseason.

JerryK
Just curious, do any of you guys think Steve Mariucci was the REAL problem in Detroit? Frankly, I dont. Ford has spent the last 30 years delivering products that roll over and blow up. The Lions are just another Ford product. Mooch hasn't proven to me he's a bad coach. Mooch didn't do a very good job with the talent he had in Detroit. I'm not sure he'd be able to handle a rebuilding job with the Jets, either. Not in his makeup. Bugg
Problem with Maruicci is he's another player's guy. The next guy has to be a hardass to some degree after Club Ed. Same for Fassel. Both guys know how to run an offense, but unless they radically toughen up, can't see them getting this job.
