Maxman
Hire Bill Cowher. Give him total control and let's see what happens. It will cost Woody. It will cost Woody a lot. This isn't an attractive job right now. But Woody has the money, so hand him the keys. Write him a check and let's get this franchise headed in the right direction again. jgb
Agree, hire hc and give full control. That way woody only gets one new hire to screw up
Matt39
Wouldnt be a fan of that. He's a Marty clone...he'll never adapt to the new league and frankly he's been out of football too long imo.

That's my biggest concern. That, and he seems to feel pretty comfortable in his TV gig. If he's only coming here for the big paycheck rather than the challenge of succeeding with this franchise, I just don't see him working out. BroadwayJoe12
He could be the Jets' HC for five playoff seasons and would still consider himself the HC of the Steelers. Guys don't win championships with two different teams, especially not a one-team lifer like Cowher. Major Pass. I'd certainly take a younger version of him as the HC only, not combined GM, but definitely not currently.

Pass Guys been away 8 years now. Took him 14 years to win the Super Bowl Actually IMO this is an attractive job right now. Some good young DL. Very early draft pick with 2 NFL type QB's to pick from, an owner who in the past has shown a willingness to spend, plus it's the Big Apple
Shadetree
Sexy pick but the wrong pick IMO. He's got giants written all over him. Nice pic, tomshane
C Mart
Who says he wants to coach? He married Queen V earlier this year. Has a good TV gig. Doesn't need the $$ or coaching lifestyle.

It's obvious that the only coaching gig Cowher wants is the Vagiants. If they continue to go into the tank, I'd bet that he ends up there. JetsFanInDenver
If we hire Cowher and he has not won a SB by season two there will be calls for firing him as well. And he wont bea ble to do anything without a QB. The JETS don't need to fire anyone as much as they need to hire a competent QB either via FA or draft. They have decent weapons now. Add a new starting caliber CB or two to the mix and JETS are a playoff bound team. I know its hard to fathom that. Most fans would not be able to grasp that at 1-8. But that's what it comes down to. GenoandtheJets
He's not leaving CBS for the Big Apple Circus known as the Jets. CBS NFL Today is a less criticized show compared to the heavily criticized Jets job
Warfish
Max is smart enough to know Cowher is never coaching again (why would he, he has his ring, made his millions, and now has a MUCH better and easier and makes-him-as-famous) job, with no issues over his legacy. May as well start a thread "Just Hire Bill Parcells" or "Just Hire Marv Levy" or "Just Hire Weeb Eubank", they're all equally pure distilled fantasyland stuff. No, sorry gents, there is no easy "just hire that no-brainer guy" options for us to fix all our problems instantly.

Greenbeans can chime in but we had EXACT same talk at Bar yesterday. Is it time to just hire a CEO type (doesnt have to be Cowher) who KNOWS 100% the day to day needs of a NFL Head Coach. Ya in Bill's case he is old, but he will hire best assistants and handle the CEO 'stuff' of being a NFL HC. There are several guys John/I spoke about that fit in this 'Cowher' mold.
