If you look at this list I guess you could say the Jets hit it right about 50% of the time. The bad news is that their good picks don't always play their most productive years with the Jets. Another thing is we have taken players that have proven productive but may have been reaches in the spot we took them.

Anthony Davis @ USC

Anthony Davis and Ricky Bell were both runners-up in Heisman voting. Davis, an All-American in 1974, led the Trojans in rushing three years and once scored six touchdowns against Notre Dame

USC's five greatest running backs

1) O.J. Simpson - Before he became an NFL legend, a ground-breaking advertising pitchman and a tireless searcher for his wife's murderer, Simpson was one of the greatest college football players of all-time. He should've been the first two-time Heisman winner cranking out a 1,543-yard, 13 touchdown junior season leading USC to the 1967 national title. He won the 1968 Award by the largest margin ever after a 1,880-yard, 23 touchdown campaign.

2) Charles White - Talk about your great careers, White tore off 6,245 yards and 49 touchdowns winning the 1979 Heisman. He set 22 NCAA, Pac 10, USC and Rose Bowl records.

3) Marcus Allen - A fullback for White in 1978 and 1979, Allen blossomed into a star of his own ripping off a 1,563-yard, 14 touchdown season before his record-setting Heisman campaign in 1981 with 2,427 yards and 22 touchdowns.

4) Anthony Davis - Davis ran for over 1,000 yards for three straight seasons finishing with 3,724 yards and 44 rushing touchdowns. Even more impressive were his talents as a kick returner averaging 34 yards per return with six touchdowns. He also caught 47 passes for 275 yards and two touchdowns.

5) Ricky Bell - Bell should have won the 1975 Heisman over Archie Griffin with a 1,957-yard, 14 touchdown junior season. He was strong in 1976 with a 1,433 yard, 14 touchdowns season, but that just happened to be the year that Pittsburgh's Tony Dorsett went nuts.

Facinating look JW....I really don't remember any of these players as rookies until the 1980's, but I like the history of football, so I know most. Just some random thoughts.

**Steve Tannen Florida CB I never saw play, but is now an actor--was on the A-Team a whole bunch in the 1980's (noticed it on re-runs), ect....According to Baddnis, a member of the Jewish sports Hall of Fame (was his original name Tannenbaum?)...Last white CB to be picked in round #1? Jason Sehorn of the early 70's?

** Mike Taylor Michigan ---Was watching a classic sports Rose Bowl on ESPN and the announcers were hyping him and Stanford's Jeff Siemon (sp?) as 2 insane LB prospects....I know Siemon went on to play over 10 seasons in the NFL...Had to scramble to find Taylor...Did injuries ruin his NFL career or was he a bust?

**Carl Barzilawskas Indiana DT---The Hoosiers had a DT with the same name in the mid 1990's..They must've been related...Great name for a DT

**Anthony Davis is know a builder in California and extremely out of shape (looks like Fridge Perry)....The article I read about him, said he played in the NFL, CFL, WFL and USFL....Quite a ride, but a definite NFL bust.

What an up and down history in the draft.

It starts off as good draft, bad draft, good draft, bad draft, good draft and bad draft.

From 86 to 92 is the worst stretch of draft picks in franchise history. Lageman was OK but a reach and Mitchell looked like an absolute star right out the gate. Unfortunately, He couldn't handle the game mentally.

Maybe, I'm mistaken but wasn't Hugh Douglas our second #1 in 1995?

What's even funnier or sad, depending on your viewpoint is The Jets history of 2nd round picks.

Parcells had a couple doozies like Dorian Boose and Rick Terry. The Jets missed so many times with their 2nd round pick. With The Ryan Yarborough's of the world.
