The Blue Jays have struck a deal to acquire third baseman Josh Donaldson from the Athletics, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. Infielder Brett Lawrie, righty Kendall Graveman, and shortstop Franklin Barreto are part of the package going back. .

While we wait for the rest of this deal to shake out, the fact that it has franchise-changing implications is apparent on its face.

I never understand what Beane is doing in Oakland, this move is no different.

And the prospects just don't add up

He's selling high on Donaldson and buying low on Lawrie.  He probably also really likes the other 3 players.  Time will tell whether or not this was a good move.  I like Donaldson a lot.  It's tough to see him go to a division rival.
