Harvin Won't Take Pay Cut To Stay With Jets

Am I the only one that loves this guy? Restructure his deal and keep him here. I really like the combination of Harvin and Decker. He had some pretty good games already with sh*tty QB play

What makes anyone think after today we can look forward to anything by "sh*tty" qb play in 2015?  Do you have some sort of secret retread  QB that know one else knows about that is going to be theJets  QB next yr?

***  I am just a long suffering fan.  Not trying to bust chops here.  Really.***

Idziot  is truly a moron beyond comprehension. Gives up a a 6 rounder for him and wastes 7 mil on a wannabe WR at a point tin the season that is already lost.  On top of that, Harvin's really a 3rd down scat back/returner.   Harvin wont get more than 5 mill next year from anyone.

And he's the biggest playmaker the team has.

Our options with Harvin are simple. Pay HIM The $10 and give up a 4th round pick.

Because if we cut him, he isn't going to play for this crappy offense with the worst starting QB in the NFL. He'll go to a team (NE?) That needs a WR and gad a LEGIT QB.

who cares any way. We suck with him, not like it will be much worse with out him.

2015 - 3-13 here we come.

Alternately, the Jets could just pay him his salary and keep him next year. After a year and a half with the Jets, his market value will be way down in 2016. They renegotiate with him then.

Yep, he is basically on a string of one yr contracts. Keep him one more yr for 10mil. If you sign a FA the signing bonus and salary will likely be close to 10million, if the guy is not a scrub.

Percy Harvin won’t take pay cut to stay with Jets

Posted by Mike Florio on December 14, 2014, 8:13 AM EST

Harvin

Receiver Percy Harvin has caused no problems for the Jets since arriving in October. Coming soon, Percy will be causing a potential dilemma for the franchise.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Harvin won’t take a pay cut to stay with the Jets in 2015, when his contract requires a base salary of $10.5 million. While Harvin likely wouldn’t get that much on the open market (and given that the Jets may offer him more on a reduced deal that anyone else would pay him), playing for another team likely would mean enjoying a better quarterback situation.

Keeping Harvin would have a cost to the Jets beyond the eight-figure salary. If he’s on the roster at the start of the league year, the sixth-round pick the Jets will be sending to the Seahawks for Harvin becomes a fourth-round selection. That term works to Harvin’s benefit as much as it does to Seattle’s, since it forces the Jets to make a decision sooner rather than later.

If the Jets choose to move on, a third trade of Harvin since 2013 becomes possible, but not likely. Perhaps the Jets could be willing to take peanuts for Percy if that means not having to cut him — and in turn to watch him walk to New England and power up the Patriots’ offense in a way that franchise hasn’t seen since Randy Moss was dumped back onto the Vikings for a disastrous three-week reunion in 2010.

If Harvin finds a home with the Patriots, if he performs to his potential, and if he causes no problems, it would be disastrous for the Jets. And possibly for every other NFL franchise.

Lol.  Then Harvin will be cut and will take a pay cut to play anywhere else.  Idiot.

Such a stupid PR move. John Idzik could have had Desean Jackson last off-season but no he might be a bad influence on the precious 12 draft picks who all suck.

Let me preface that Percy is a good player but the trade had no purpose other than try to validate Geno which in itself is reaching.

The trade was Idzikiot damage control. Dude is the most incompetent GM in the nfl maybe in all sports. Woody will prove once and for all he had a 65 IQ when he decides to give Idzik another year.

Yet Woody supposedly has him searching for a HC! Stop the madness please.

Nobody is going to trade for this guy at his salary

That was a wasted 6th rounder and $7,000,000

Everyone praised Idzik for saving money this year that would go to Mo, Sheldon etc.

7m is really alot to waste when your clearly not making the playoffs on a gadget guy. Perhaps Idziks worst move since getting here.

Agreed for the most part.  It was a terrible trade and a waste of valuable cap space for yet another receiver who most likely can't be the #1 guy.  I'm not sure it's Idzik's worst move, though, although it's pretty darn close.  That honor would have to go to the WRs he selected in this year's draft.

In short, though, he's so horribly mismanaged the WR position (not to mention the CB position) that he deserves to be fired just for that, let alone the other idiotic decisions that the organization has made under his watch.

Well, consider that if he has to take a pay cut his priority is to get his dollars back up. As of today it would seem those chances are better shopping around than staying here. Even if the Jets offer the same or a little higher for '15.

UNREAL for $10 Million we could have had Sean Jackson.  Harvin is not worth 10 mill.  I would give him 6.5 mill per for 3 years. If he doesn't want it see ya!.  He's a playmaker on many levels BUT he's not a polished #1 WR if he's a WR a all. Thats really why Seattle canned his azz in addition to his biatchin nature which got him thrown out of Minny as well.  No way Jose do I overpay this guy. How'd that work out with Decker?
