No, it sounds like Quinn is not desperate and only willing to leave a GREAT situation in Seattle IF the opportunity completely aligns with what he wants for much ofelf. Jets fans should appreciate this about the guy, because if he ends up here, he has set the tone right from the get-go that he is taking ownership of his fate, the details surrounding it and he's getting what he needs/wants to be successful.

I would think these are strong qualities for a HC.

You know this guy?  I have not found much about him.  I do remember when the Jets got him they made big deal about how they stole such a great coach away from Miami.   I really don't remember if he made much of an impact to our DL at the time.  I do remember we did finally get an upgrade there in Dubar.  The rest of his profile talks more the same until he ends up with Carroll.

If he is picked I sure hope you right.

Know him? No.

I may be projecting a little, but where I'm at in my career, I refuse to jump to my next gig unless I have complete control over how successful I can be there. I've been on the other side of it, taking a gig because it's a way out of the one I had before it.

You get to a point where you have to take ownership of your situation and career arc. Otherwise, you end up set up to fail.

Sure I agree that could be a good quality in a person

For HC I want someone who is like a good chess player.  Will think ahead 3-4 plays\series etc.  In a game.

Will work with both coordinators and come up with best game plans.

HC should put his players in best positions to make plays so he must know what every player on 53 is capable of.

I think a HC should oversee the dev of ever player in tandem with coordinator, position coach, and strength n conditioning.  They should be setting Dev goals on regularly and know when to cut bait.  The HC should not sacrifice games to do this evaluation.

Lastly I think HC needs to hire good staff, or work with given staff and maximize all the traits above through the staff so they all need to be strong and on same page as the HC is only as good as everyone around him as he never touches a football.

And,

Kimberly A Martin:

Contrary to what's out there, I was told by a reliable source that Doug Marrone's interview w/ the #Jets went well on Saturday #nfl

The media is so out of control. It is hard to keep up because there are so many agendas.

Cimini had the story about Marrone opting out first but wouldn't break the story. So many complicated rules.

They all want to be the reporter that gets the scoop on who gets the top  jobs first. Trying to read the tea leaves of as an empty a mind as Robert Wood Johnson the 3rd is a waste of time because he doesn't know what he's going to do,and he doesn't appear to listen to the professionals he has paid to advise him. Which is how we got here.

All we really know for sure is that they're still interviewing people.  To which I say - Thank God!  I don't have a strong opinion as to who they should hire, but I'd be pissed if they hired Marrone right away without interviewing the other people they planned to interview.

Looks like an opening for that Tom Gamble Fan Fiction guy. How many interviews has Tom Gamble had for anything, anyway, since he was escorted off the Eagles' property?

LOL @ calling someone out who couldn't reply to your taunts because you 'temporarily suspended' them for 2 weeks for saying that you guzzle cum.

F*cking loser.

PS - Tom Gamble still turned down the Jets 2 years ago.

First post back? You're not going to last very long. At all.

I'd think with two weeks, you'd've been able to find a single link to back up your fantasy. Guess not.

I have a sneaking suspicion that there's a thread in the mod forum titled IPBanBadPosters. what a despicable personal attack against a moderator of a site with supposedly (old joke) gay moderators. absolutely despicable! I think maybe even the authorities should be summoned for this.

Quinn? Eh.

I want a coach with HC experience and he doesn't fit that bill. I think were making a mistake by not hiring a giy w HC wxperience. Also, is he really coaching those animals? Those fickers are blood thirsty savages!

He might be sought after coach, but I'm not enamored cause I haven't really witnessed him out coach someone. Have I?

I'm sorry, but that D is just a bunch of athletic freaks of nature, not coached up over acheivers.

That is the one question I have as well. Having said that maybe he recognizes that he has great players and coaches to their strength which seems to be keep it simple and let them play. I like a coach who recognizes strengths and plays to them, as opposed to a mastermind who creates or runs a scheme that he does not have the players for. I've seen "masterminds" screw up a good thing more than a few times in this life. Quinn at very least didn't try to plug square pegs into round holes which is more than a lot of "masterminds" can say. Screw it, bring on Quinn.

Here, I think this is the type of thing creating confusion...

The New York Jets' general manager search is not going well. They have met with a ton of quality candidates, but the position remains open. So what's the problem?

"They can't give the position away," Fox Sports insider and NFL Network contributor Jay Glazer reported Sunday. "They are now calling back candidates that turned them down, saying please reconsider."

Coaching search tracker
_Rosenthal1-65x90.jpgGregg Rosenthal provides a one-stop shop for all the latest head-coaching search news. Who are teams targeting? More ...

Yikes. This sort of thing usually does not happen because GM jobs are so hard to come by in the NFL.

On the Jets' interview list are former Chicago Bears GM Jerry Angelo, in-house candidate Scott Cohen, Miami Dolphinsassistant GM Brian Gaine, Pittsburgh Steelers executive Omar Khan, Seattle Seahawks vice president of football administration John Idzik, San Francisco 49ers director of player personnel Tom Gamble and New York Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross.

The Jets' situation is tricky because of coach Rex Ryan's presence and Woody Johnson's questionable ownership. Usually, a GM helps pick the coach. The situation is reversed this time.

The Jets also lack offensive talent, not to mention an offensive coordinator. All of those factors are scaring away quality GM candidates.

UPDATE: Some people might want the job after all. ESPN reported later Sunday, citing sources, that the Jets will have follow-up talks with Angelo, Cohen and Khan, possibly starting Tuesday, and the team hopes to hire someone by Friday. ESPN also reported that former Denver Broncos GM Ted Sundquist interviewed for the job last week.

Depending upon how you interpret this, you could take it to mean that the Jets are calling back people that turned them down from the list provided in the article. I remember stuff like this circulating. I also remember reports that Gamble turned down a second interview with the Jaguars to focus on the Jets job, the rumor that Gamble wanted Tomsula as coach, then poof no Gamble to the Jets (after he was the heavy favorite for a while).

Ultimately, I don't think it was every published who turned who down, at least not from a reputable source. Perhaps speculative stuff was said... either way, you guys aren't arguing over the facts anymore, now it's about you guys not agreeing to disagree, him getting frustrated and you invoking your mod authority.

Why don't you guys spark a doobie and find something lame to agree on, like the taste of penis?

BadPoster's imaginary story revolves around Tom Gamble not knowing that Rex was part of the package when he first interviewed for the job - and I've posted a variety of links where Woody announced that Rex would remain as head coach six days before Tom Gamble's interview.

The second part of BadPoster's said story is that Tom Gamble learned that Rex was absolutely part of the deal in his second interview - an interview that has left absolutely no record on the Internet. Caldwell, Kahn, and Idzik had second interviews. That's all I've been able to find.

The guy can't even provide links to rumors supporting his position, much less facts.

Also, your services aren't required to mediate. Thanks.

No thread needed. He (IPBan Poster guy) sent me a message asking me to ban him. Usually I ignore those requests under the "We will leave a light on for you policy" but when I saw what he posted to Slats, clearly he had to go.

But - we didn't IP ban him. So he can still read this. I find that amusing and ironic lol.

You're sticking your red ass where it doesn't belong. I'm not being a dick, just pointing that out.

Wait, what? It's an open thread. I contributed to it.

You two dorks have been having the same argument for however many weeks. It made me curious to see what the actual fact were, because that part got lost in between him flipping out and you doing that thing where you wave being a mod at anyone that doesn't back down from you.

What I posted favors your side of the argument, but also illustrates how one could come away from that situation misinformed. There's nothing wrong with members of the community helping to mitigate disputes in the community, even if it involves a moderator. Also, the penis joke. Gimme a break, you are being power trippy again... go back to being normal.

Alright let's get this back on track. Quinn. That is who this thread was about.

Word.

So, has there been anything at all to substantiate the "Quinn is the favorite" shift we saw this week? Other than us being mentioned in regard to McCloughan, I've seen nothing. The Jets have really become tight-lipped as an organization. The only information that comes out seems to be purposeful misdirection type stuff.

I'm just quoting this post to acknowledge the fact that I've read it, and let you know that I think you have some sort of mental illness which requires you to always have the last word. As important as it is for you to try and prove me wrong there, I'm betting you can't.

Why are you insulting me?

I tried to bring levity to the thread, while staying the topic you guys shifted to. It's not about getting the last word, or proving anyone wrong (that was a little melodramatic, don't you think?) I was very well-intentioned in adding to the conversation. Functional communities can self-police, there's been plenty of times where I'm in the wrong, but there's a lot of times where I have successfully quelled disputes with levity. That's all I was trying to do, and you seem to have redirected your aggravation with him on me.

So, like I said, don't be a dick to me because I was trying to lighten things up... you don't need to steer this down the "ape challenged me, now I have to remind him I'm a mod" path. We're past that. I was just trying to get you guys to laugh, God forbid.

I know bud, that's what Slats and IPBan were arguing about... Tom Gamble and the GM search 2 years ago. Don't sweat it, apparently I was out of line somehow. On to better things... like the IPA I picked up on the way home from work!
