Hearings from Ian Rappaport that interview has gone on over 5 hours now. Says announcement may come tonight or tomorrow.

Reading the Falcons forums, most of their fans want their owner to sign Rex.  If he doesn't get it it will be a huge upset.

Rex Ryan stole six years of your life and hand-delivered the franchise back to a state not seen around these parts since Rich Kotite, but ok.

He didn't hand anything back. It was taken away from him when He was fired after the GM screwed him with having 3rd and 4th string corners. I will wish him well wherever he lands. He is a passionate coach that has flaws but what coach doesn't.

Good for Rex. Best of luck to him

But why does a Jets Website care about what Rex is doing now?

He's not a Jet.

We root for the Jets.

Any Jets news?

Or is this the start of yet more FJOS (Former Jet Obsession Syndrome)?

Man, I sure hope not. How is Braylon Edwards doing these days.......

Have you seen the Sanchez threads?!

That is your opinion, shame.  You are also entitled to one, my friend.  Rex did more to this franchise than any other Jets coach in 40 years, a fact. Of course those ungrateful fan like you who Rex rubbed the wrong way when he got here, feel the way you do.

Rex made the mistake of his life by coming in here and not Atlanta, six years ago.  He had a QB in Atlanta and came in here to compete with one of the greatest QB of all time with no QB of his own and he beat that great QB in the playoff when it matter the most.

Atlanta is a great spot for Rex. Give him 2 years to rebuild the D and look out. Good for him, I hope he does well.

Rexey may fix falcons defense in 6 yrs , he needs 6 1st rounders to make it happen, meanwhile the O goes to glue factory and mel blanc screams "that's all folks"

The Atlanta Falcons and former New York Jets coach Rex Ryan have parted ways after spending the afternoon together on Tuesday.

Ryan's interview ended after five or more hours, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, via a source informed of their situation.

The length of the interview is proof of mutual interest, even if both parties are moving on to their next round of interviews.

The Falcons still have an interview scheduled with Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles on Thursday, per Rapoport.

Now that Ryan has left Atlanta without a deal, the Buffalo Bills would like to speak with him as well, a source tells Rapoport.

It will be interesting to see if Ryan's camp maintains dialogue with the Falcons in the meantime.

Omg like what

Rex doesn't need to have the top D in the league. But in 2 years, it's realistic ATL could have a top 10 D.

With the talent on O there, that would be more than enough to field a legitimate playoff team.

he will destroy the O in a year

Yepper Rexey created a top 10 "Paper Lion" defense here, he would do same there.

IMO 5 hour interview is proof of nothing, these guys fly cross country and tour these facilities, how long do people think it takes? he's not interviewing for Greeter at applebees

Bingo! And with Rex I'm sure Blank didn't get his 1st question out until 2 hours into the "interview"

@JasonLaCanfora: Heard Vic Fangio's interview with the 49ers, who already know him quite well, lasted in excess of 6hrs and was very impressive. Interesting

Last week, shortly after Bills coach Doug Marrone opted out of his contract and became a leading contender to replace Rex Ryan with the Jets, the Buffalo News reported that the Bills were interested in speaking with Ryan about their vacancy

Now, it seems things are starting to heat up between Ryan and the Bills, who officially want to interview Ryan, according to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. No date has been set yet, according to the newspaper.

Ryan's head coaching interviews so far have been with the Falcons and 49ers. He met with the Falcons on Tuesday, a day after Marrone met with them.

The Bills have interviewed (or want to interview) anyone and everyone for their vacancy, as the Democrat and Chronicle's Sal Maiorana reported

The Bills have already met with Mike Shanahan, Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, Chargers OC Frank Reich, Broncos OC Adam Gase, Seahawks OC Darell Bevell, and Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. They are scheduled to interview Hue Jackson, the Bengals offensive coordinator, on Wednesday, and are scheduled to meet Browns OC Kyle Shanahan and Lions DC Teryl Austin before the end of the week.

The Bills have also asked for permission to speak to Colts OC Pep Hamilton, 49ers OC Greg Roman, and Patriots OC Josh McDaniels. And Buffalo's own DC, Jim Schwartz, will be given a chance to get the job at a later date.

It makes sense, given the Bills' lengthy list of interviews/interview requests and their previously reported desire to meet with Ryan, that they would be working to set up an interview with the former Jets coach. (The Jets interviewed Marrone on Saturday.)

Ryan has spoken to ESPN about perhaps working in television during the 2015 season, but his preference is to land a head coaching job, and he is working toward that goal.

Meanwhile, the Jets on Wednesday will wrap up their scheduled interviews with their confirmed targets, by speaking to Arizona defensive coordinator Todd Bowlesand San Diego offensive coordinator Frank Reich

The Jets also want to speak with Ravens offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak, but he has said he won't speak to any teams until Baltimore's season ends. That could happen as soon as this Saturday, when the Ravens play at the Patriots in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs.

Exactly.

10 years ago I was flown from the midwest to Boston, arriving at 1AM, the next day I was interviewed for 10 hours, with every member of management and all of the tenured employees from each discipline.

The job? Art Director. The pay? Peanuts.

All this talk about length of interviews today is ridiculous.

@viccarucci: Confirming a report from @salmaiorana, #Bills are looking to line up an interview w former #Jets coach Rex Ryan.

Non-story, the Bills have literally interviewed everyone on the market. They are this year's Cleveland Browns, for those that recall, the Browns couldn't give their HC job away last year... in fact, the Browns HC gig was sort of like the Jets GM gig in that regard.

Say What?  When Rex took over the Jets, our D was ranked mid 20 and he turned it into number one defense the following year.

Did you use the line, "take a swing at me and I'll swing at 2 of you"? Probably why you didn't get the gig.

The Falcons have a hired a firm like the Jets did 2 years ago. They might take their time and get the rest of their interviews done.

However, coaches are going to start to fall soon so they might be forced to pull the trigger.

6 hours ago the Bills were going to hire the Shanahans. Thread title makes the fact that Rex has an interview sound like he's on the cusp of being hired, just like the stupid "Rex to Atlanta" thread.

Interviews people, interviews. Not everyone gets their job by filling out an application on the kiosk between the Starbucks counter and shopping cart return inside Target.
