Greenseed4
A source tells FOX Sports that the Browns are "parting ways" with OC Kyle Shanahan. The dysfunction that has plagued Cleveland's organization for the last 15 years continues. Just one year after landing a talented game-planner and offensive schemer, the Browns lose Shanahan on the heels of a disastrous Johnny Manziel pick and reports of "friction" between the coaches and the front office. Shanny (who was never on Team Manziel) reportedly asked for his release and was granted it, while quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains was canned Thursday. Shanahan, who will interview for the Bills' head coaching vacancy Thursday and has been linked to the 49ers' vacancy, won't hurt for other offers. Seahawks DC Dan Quinn wants him as his offensive coordinator if he lands a job and there are also rumors of three teams interested in Mike and Kyle as a package deal. The next Browns' OC will be their ninth since 2006. Oh Gawd, does this means we're getting Dowell Loggains and Brian Hoyer?

Warfish
Remember, every player, coach or GM will leak that they "have strong interest from the NY Jets" because that will help them with leverage with other teams and in negotiating their contract. Keep that in mind.
carpetbeggar
****, I hate all this speculation in the media. It's bad enough on a message board. Knowing the history of "being lucky" this team has had through the years, and if it is the plan in place at this moment for The Jets to go with Quinn as head coach and Shanny as OC, I see a disaster unfolding. I now fully expect to see a team like the Bills putting the **** into this plan by offering Shanahan the head coaching position. Wouldn't that be exactly something The Jets would have happen? Just kidding around, but my point is I hate all these "sources" that seem to pop out of the woodwork every year around playoff time? It's just endless, endless speculation. Come regular season time in September, someone should revisit these late December/early January threads and pull out any that actually ended up having credible information. Lol. I know it's all great reading material and fodder for us fans, but sometimes it just becomes overwhelming nonsense. BTW, count me on the side of being on board withthe Quinn/Shannahan combo. The best part would be if Quinn gets the job, hires Kyle as OC, then they interview and hire Mike Shanahan as running backs coach. LOL. #27TheDominator
Why the link to Quinn and not to Kubiak? Kubiak is the first one to hire him and the only reason Shanahan left the Texans was to join Dear Old Dad.
vincenzo69
yeah, that's a definite no.. griffin & shanahan reportedly don't like each other.. at all.. yea that aint happening Mike Shanahan publicly knocked RG3 for being lazy.

Savage69
There is none, hopefully Carolina beats Seattle this weekend ( doubt that happens) so all this speculation will be over with. Until that happens we don't know anything about who will get hired. This happens all the time with the Jets , we are supposed to sign this guy or hire this guy and we all end up disappointed. Fans do that to themselves believing crap that is all based on media speculation.. There's GM and HC candidates that I would like but I don't put any stock in getting anyone until it's done for real.. As long as they don't hire Kotite I'll be happy..

32EBoozer
Why couldn't we have brought this guy in for Quinn. I would take this guy over Shanahan!! Buccaneers announce Dirk Koetter is their new offensive coordinator Posted by Michael David Smith on January 8, 2015, 6:49 PM EST The Buccaneers have their new offensive coordinator. Dirk Koetter, who spent the last three seasons as the offensive coordinator of the division rival Falcons, is now the offensive coordinator in Tampa Bay. Last year Bucs head coach Lovie Smith hired Jeff Tedford as his offensive coordinator, but the team was forced to scramble after Tedford left the job because of health problems. Now Smith has a new coordinator in place. Prior to serving as offensive coordinator of the Falcons, Koetter was offensive coordinator of the Jaguars. He has also been head coach at Boise State and Arizona State, and offensive coordinator at Oregon, Boston College, Missouri, UTEP and San Francisco State. 32EBoozer
Per PFT After Brian Schottenheimer left St. Louis to become the offensive coordinator at Georgia, the Rams have identified some potential replacements. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Rams have requested permission to interview 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman and former Browns offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan for vacancy in St. Louis. Roman is also a candidate to replace Shanahan in Cleveland, and Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com reports that the 49ers have given the Browns permission to interview Roman. Roman remains under contract with the 49ers even after head coach Jim Harbaugh left, but the 49ers are permitting him to seek employment elsewhere. Shanahan and the Browns have agreed to go their separate ways, and he doesn’t need permission to interview. The Rams are coming off a season in which their passing game greatly struggled after Sam Bradford was lost for the season. Rams head coach Jeff Fisher will be looking for someone to inject some life in the offense.

32EBoozer
Curious to see who Quinns fallback OC would be if Shannahan hooks up with Fisher. Although, if I were an OC the last place I would go would be to a division with the Cardinals, Seahawks and 49ers in it.

Shanahan, 23, was transported to the Arrestee Processing Center. His release was ordered after he appeared in court Sunday and was charged with misdemeanor intoxication. Shanahan was being "loud, belligerent and causing a scene" after being escorted from the Have a Nice Day Cafe at 2:07 a.m. Sunday, according to a report filed by Indianapolis Police Officer Eric B. Simmons . "I could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his person, his eyes were glassy and bloodshot and he was unsteady on level ground." Simmons said he told Shanahan several times to quiet down but he persisted and was arrested. Shanahan, the son of Broncos coach Mike Shanahan , is in his second season as the Bucs' offensive quality control coach and is attending the NFL scouting combine.
