Ghost
You better be kidding me. We're stacked up front, there's no room for a guy like Kelly or Dan Williams. Cromartie would be a decent stopgap solution for a year I guess but I'm not exactly thrilled about that either. He's been hot/cold on a weekly basis and he's not getting any younger. Foote is just garbage. Benard, Acho & Housler are role players at best. I honestly don't want any of those guys. We're trying to improve our roster... Give me Fitzgerald, Daryl Washington & or their midget safety (Honey Badger). Those are players. Fitz and Washington might even be available. The rest they can keep for themselves. That midget safety will be Top 3 at his position in a couple years.
DaBallhawk
That midget safety will be Top 3 at his position in a couple years. I wouldn't go THAT far but that was obviously more tongue in cheek when I called him a midget, he's one of the best young safeties out there already and if the Cards can recover from losing Bowles on defense he'll probably make the Pro Bowl in a year or two. Love the way he plays the game.
Lizard King
Bowles handing it to Rex twice a year is going to be awesome to watch. Rivalry with Buffalo is the last thing I ever expected in my lifetime but this definitely makes it interesting. I have to think that this is a great day to be a Jets fan. Bowles seems like a real pro. And hey I was born in Elizabeth too so there's that.

HessStation
We don't know if it will translate to wins but I actually think Woody deserves some credit for at least, how he's handled the process. The people he's involved and hired. Jmo.

Gastineau Lives
I'm tired of Mike Westhoff and his opinions. The guy was a special teams coach for ****s sake. Now he's just a cranky old man without a punter to yell at.

BigRy56
Bowles is known for being an insane blitzer and putting his guys in a position where they can impact the game. A truly flexible and well adjusting coach. The more I read about this guy, the more I think the Jets may have just found the next big thing at head coach. SMC
Bowles has an impressive resume both as a SB champion starter and a coach. Quinn ' s resume pales in comparison. He's also did a good job making his D over achieve. Will that translate to HC? Who knows, but this hire can't be criticized unless there is another agenda. 32EBoozer
In that other thread Bowles vs Quinn I'm one of the few people who picked Bowles. I honestly think he's the better fit for the Jets. True story. I love the fact that Bowles was a former player with a SB Ring. His specialty is working with DB's which can only help Milliner, McDougle and Walls. I like the fact that we have a Black coach, since nearly 70% of players are black. I think he can get in the face of a Percy Harvin and Coples and challenge them to strive for excellence. Elizabeth, NJ was a tough town back in the day. As much as I'm going to miss Dunbar, I think he was a little too friendly with the players. I hope the next guy (Rodgers from Miami) will get the most out of these guys.
Jetsfan80
Quinn So we don't know much about Quinn, who seemed to have some HC qualities like Bowles but had vastly superior talent on defense, yet he's a lock for success and Bowles is an idiot. Interesting. Tell me, what if the Seahawks go to the Super Bowl then Quinn chooses to go elsewhere, and Bowles ends up with Atlanta? What then? Not to say that rushing to hire someone is ever a good move, but I fail to see how Bowles is that much different than Quinn in your mind.

Jetsfan80
Macdaddy already getting things done. Well this decision fell a good bit more on Woody/Cassely/Wolf than Maccagnan. Though I sincerely doubt he comes here without being fully on board with the HC selection, of course. But the actual move was made by Woody and his consultants. Do you really think Quinn would have come here with the Denver, SF, Chicago and even Atlanta jobs open? The Jets of old would have waited on Quinn, seen Bowles get hired by ATL, then watched as Quinn took one of those premier jobs. Meanwhile we get stuck with Kubiak or Marrone. Just because we liked Quinn a lot doesn't mean he was always and forever our # 1 choice. You know as little about Quinn as you do Bowles, yet Bowles is a sh*tty hire and Quinn definitely wouldn't be? Also nothing about this move was to get in the papers. Bowles was recommended by Casserly and Wolf. He's not a big splash hire. The WOODY of old would have tried to get John Fox. Integrity28
Don't be patient and wait for the playoffs/SB to be over just grab anyone so they can get in the paper. **** this FO and woody. They didn't grab just anyone. If they had, they probably would have hired Marrone. Instead they hired a guy with both personnel and coaching on his resume, a guy who has been heavily endorsed by NFL "royalty", a guy that was able to get far more out of less than Rex did here or Quinn has ever had to in Seattle, a guy that WANTED* to coach the Jets, who has assistant head coach experience, who has interim head coach experience, and the most relevant thing of all in this moment is that he put forth the single best coaching effort of 2014 (at any level of the NFL). Only Urban Meyer taking a 3rd string QB and winning the national championship trumps what Bowles was able to accomplish, in my opinion. * People seem to be overlooking the reality that Jets may not have been Quinn's top choice. I know it was rumored for about 24 hours, but that was unsubstantiated, so I don't think it's fair to blame Woody or the Jets for their fans giving credence to rumors that enable their fantasies, but aren't necessarily true. Anyway, you are well entitled to be sour on the decision. We all know I've been there with many Jets decisions. I'm just having a hard time seeing anything negative here. Hopefully it works out.
