Matt Moore will be the Jets starting qb in 2015.

Recommended Posts

Matt Moore will not get the Jets an additional 5 -7 wins. I wish it were so, but highly unlikely. I'd take Locker and I think maybe he could get us to 8 wins.

1. Jake Locker stinks. He's actually worse at reading defenses than Geno unless he's facing our secondary.

2. Jake Locker is injury prone

3. Jake Locker ain't getting us 8 wins, he couldn't even get us to 6.

You guys need to base your qb evaluations on something other than how they did facing our putrid secondary.

Its unpopular but I really like Jake locker, if he can only stay healthy

Matt Moore won team mvp when todd bowles was interm coach of the dolphins. Moore is a free agent this year. With bowles running this defense, the jets will win 10 or 11 games and get a wild car

Matt Moore is a good name to hold the fort while Mariota sits and learns the NFL game.

Funny thing is that while it's obvious why this wasn't the most attractive place to come to for a HC candidate (or even an OC who had better options on the table), it's not totally unattractive for a FA QB.We have an experienced OC (if one doesn't already have something against him). Anyone's opinion aside we have at least an ok OL with opportunity for improvement, a solid ground attack with Ivory and whoever else we add, and some pretty good receiving options (nothing resembling the 2012-2013 crew). Sure, anyone would like a "true #1" in the superstar type mold, but there are free agents and a draft coming up. Even if we dump Harvin and are unsuccessful in landing an ideal/better replacement, Decker + Kerley + Amaro isn't a bad foundation. Lastly, we have near limitless spending flexibility coming up for the QB and for even more help around him.QBs have won a lot of games and done very well personally with less than that on paper. It's not so unattractive as Jets fans might think. Being in/near NYC still holds a lot of appeal to a lot of people (especially if they're rich and can really afford the best of what the city has to offer, like a veteran NFL QB can).

Totally agree with you Spermy, Jets would be a very attractive for any FA QB for the reasons mention above.

My point is, no FA QB out there will take the Jets from 4 wins to 10 wins. Jets have too many holes and a glaring lack of overall depth.

He's already exceeded it.

His ceiling now is 7-9.

How is it not a waste of space? The goal is not to make the playoffs and lose. The goal is to win a championship. The only way Tannehill is ever going to the Super Bowl is if he gets a ticket.

So one can exceed their ceiling? Interesting.

If Brad Johnson, Jim Plunkett and Trent Dilfers can win four SBs, you don't think Tannehill can be better than them? Not saying he will, but winning SB has more to do with the entire team than just one QB. Otherwise Brady and Manning should have won 15 SBs by now between them.

Jim Plunkett was a Heisman Trophy winning and the number one overall pick in the draft. Winning two Super Bowls was him living up to expectations. He is probably the most underrated football player of the last 40 years.

Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer were game managers on teams with exceptional defenses. Defenses that were significantly better than your average championship caliber defense.

Dilfer was a top six draft pick from a small school who was probably overdrafted much like Tannehill.

Brad Johnson is the closest comparison to Tannehill based on skill level. A decent QB who lasted a long time in the league. Had some playoff appearances and was just the right guy at the right time in Tampa, again playing with an historically great defense that featured at least 3 Hall of Famers.

If Tannehill ever finds himself on a team with an all-time great defense, watch out, until then... it's 8-8 with a max of 10-6 plus an early playoff exit.

I don't agree with u at all. Heisman Trophy and the position drafted at means nothing. Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer's SB winning seasons were nothing more than aberration.

My point is, Tannehill just came off a 27td, 11int 4k yard season. I hate him as much as you do, but you have to give him some credit. If he had that kind of a season with the Jets in 2009 and 2010, we would have been bragging about two SB wins instead of two AFCCG appearances. And those Jets D were not historical.

I said he was as good as Pennington.

There is literally no way to know that for sure.

What do you guys think of Colt McCoy or Sam Bradford? I know Bradford will probably break something walking out of the locker room. He's probably the most talented, but I know he's not cut yet.

The issue with Bradford is that at this point his leg is hanging by a tendon sheath. He is literally walking on a thread.  To invest $$$$ in Bradford is to invest in a few good games followed by a devastating injury event where you hope your backup qb can pick up the slack. BIG BIG BIG risk. I say no.

Why would Moore be mo(o)re logical than Fitzpatrick? Because he once upon a time started three games when his defensive coordinator was interim coach? Seems like three years as starting QB in our offensive coordinator's system is a slightly stronger tie.

I wouldn't hate either, but I want Mike Glennon. Stop-gap at worst, long term solution if Woody sells his soul to the devil.

I love the Mangini built a solid roster revisionist history myth...

Right up there next to the Sun revolves around the Earth myth

Great argument!  You've convinced me.

I guess aquiring guys like:

Alan Faneca,

Damien Woody

D'Brick Ferguson

Nick Mangold

David Harris

Darrelle Revis

Same here.

I have no idea why Lovie had such a boner for McCown but Glennon did some nice things last year and this year as well.

I really think Tampa Bay will be drafting either Winston or Mariotta so why not make the call and see what you can get for him.

What in tarnation are you talking about? Tannehill is light years a better QB than Dilfer ever was.

I didn't realize Manjerk was the GM for those years...who was the HC I should have blamed for being a crappy HC while GM Manjerk was building that roster in the back office???

Really?  Was Mangenius also calling the shots when he went 6-20 in Cleveland or caused Vernon Davis to have the worst season of his career this past year?

Fitz and Moore both suck.  This is typical grass is greener nonsense.  Matt Moore started a couple games 5 years ago so obviously we're winning a Super Bowl with him.

I didn't know Andrew Luck and Tom Brady were available in the offseason.

There will be a vet QB added during the offseason. Both are realistic options. No one is saying they are the key to the promised land. We're 4-12. The grass is dead.

So...the statement that Mangini built a good roster is wrong?  Nobody said anything about his coaching..the argument was linear.  Now you've taken it somewhere else to prove the initial statement had no merit.  The coach has a lot do with the roster moves made by the GM.  Rex drafted defense as top priority every season he was here.  Wilson, Wilkerson, Coples, Richardson and Pryor were all first round picks.  Coples was told he was going to get drafted by the Jets from Rex himself during a workout pre-draft.  Not revisionist history.  just history.

McCoy does not have enough arm.  We all know about Bradford's injury history, but I think a lot of that is bad luck, not bad bones.

Remember, herm, mangini, rex all made playoffs in year 1 of their tenure. With matt moore at qb, bowles continues that trend.

What do you base that on? Moore's body of work consists of two games. Wishful thinking. Besides who said Miami was going to simply let him walk away to a division rival. Not every team is as stupid as Idzik was in letting revis go.
