Without brady, he is. The record proves it

Their first six years as HC's...(the time without Brady)

BB -

record - 41-55

1 winning season (11-5)

1 playoff appearance

1 playoff win

RR -

record - 46-50

2 winning seasons (one of which was 11-5)

2 playoff appearances

4 playoff wins

By every statistical number Rex Ryan has been a better coach in his first six years than BB.

Without Brady, BB won 11 games with a high school QB.

To put that in perspective, in the last 16 years, the Jets only have one 11 win season.

You guys keep hanging your hat on that one winning season.  Rex Ryan had an 11 win season with Mark Sanchez.  Doesn't really make Rex a great coach.

There is no arguing with the numbers.  I'm not saying BB is a bad coach, just that Brady is the reason he's considered exceptional.

As a Pat fan you'll almost certainly have to concede the point that started this...

If Brady leaves  (and BB stays) the Pats will revert to an average team that will have good years and bad ones.

If BB leaves and Brady stays the Pats will still win 12-13 games a year.

The Pats success mainly falls on the shoulders of Brady and not BB....

yes... dropping 5 games YOY and missing the playoffs against one of the easiest schedules in football totally makes your point about Belicheat not being completely reliant on Brady

btw.. if Cassell is a high school qb, would that make Sanchez and geno powder puff?

Lmao at using a 16-0 season and an 11-5 missed playoff run as benchmarks. That's a real special kind of stupid.

belicheats overall pitiful record without Brady has been quoted numerous times, it's the nitwit cheat fans that keep touting the missed playoff run

In the history of the NFL playoffs, the Pats are only one of two teams to miss the playoffs after going 11-5. BB did that with a QB who lasted started a game in high school.

99.9% of Jets fans on this board would give their left nut for the Jets to go 11-5.

Sanchez was the friggn' #5 overall draft pick and Geno was a 2nd rounder. Brady was the #199 pick who was developed by BB.

He sat and learned for 3 years before he stepped in year 4 when Brady was hurt.. Bart Starr was the 199th pick as well and Romo wasn't picked at all..

And Johhny Unitas was a ninth round pick who was cut by the team that drafted him  before he ever started a game. Len Dawson was cut by two teams before going on to a Hall of Fame career.

The only credit Belichick gets as far as Brady is concerned is not cutting him too quickly.

They missed the playoffs cause the AFC east had a ridiculously easy schedule that year. They dropped 5 wins YOY against an extremely easy schedule cause 1 player went down.

And you want to credit someone other then 1 player.. lmao

Sanchez was the friggn' #5 overall draft pick and Geno was a 2nd rounder. Brady was the #199 pick who was developed by BB.

Ryan leaf was a #2 pick, doesn't change the fact that Cassell has had a better pro career then Sanchez, Geno and leaf

Unitas was a cut 9th rd pick but the 101th player picked which today would have been early 4th rd.. Hell Rich Gannon was a 4th rd pick of the Pats in 1987 and did nothing for 11 years and then Made 4 pro bowls and 2 All Pro's 1999-2002 with the Raiders..

Great point right here.

The Pats carried 4 QB's on their opening day roster that year.

No NFL team ever carries 4 QB's.

The fact that a team with one of the best QB's of all time on the bench felt the need to carry 4 tells you all you need to know about Belicheat

This whole argument will end when Brady is either force to retire thru injury or is just unable to compete on the same level.

There is no doubt in my mind that BB is a "Good" coach, yet without Brady that is exactly what he'll be "a good" coach.

Don't be surprised by the fact that when Brady calls it quits, BB makes his announcement that he will be joining Brady. For to not do so, would expose BB as the average coach he is

In that same light, when this occurs, watch what happens to the fan base. The bandwagon will empty by the hundred of thousands. All of the Patriots crap you see everywhere will suddenly disappear from the American landscape.

Well if Brady retires in 4 years you understand that BB will then be 67 and being the top paid Head coach for 20 straight years.  I think when Brady retires or sooner, BB will leave and become head coach at Navy.

I don't understand why so many jet fans don't give BB his due as a great coach.  Present Coaches are asked who are the best, players are asked who are the best, FO types are asked who are the best, Past coaches are asked, BB is always mentioned, even by  guys like Polian and Fisher who hate him. It is a way for jet fans to get "cred" or something.  Can't be a real jet fan if you think BB is a great coach.

Because the facts don't support that he was a great coach without Brady.  There's a large sample size of six season that he coached before Brady - and his teams were mostly terrible.

And the other coaches, players, FO people all are not aware of that he was the HC of the browns?

And you have to remember, the browns were one of the worse teams in the nfl when he took over and he had to get rid of the QB.  The teams got better every year and this was before true free agency until they moved to Balt, and the team fell apart. Brown fans hated him for benching Kosar, and the media just hated him because he treated them like they deserved to be treated. as dogs.

BB took over a 3-13 Cleveland team, turned the roster over 86% and in his 4th year wins the division and wins a playoff game.

The next season BB has the Browns sitting at 3-1 and then the Browns announce they are leaving Cleveland.

Yea, what terrible job of coaching.

In 6 seasons with the Jets, Wrecks couldn't even come close to sniffing a divisional title.

Cleveland didn't have an all time great at QB in the division.

IN 5 seasons with Cleveland, Belicheat made the playoffs 1 time and had a terrible overall record. Even a bufoon like Rex made it to the playoffs two times lol

come on with this crap, these same people thought sanchez was a great QB cause they went to the AFCC 2x. People aren't separating Belicheat with and without brady, if they did, they'd realize Brady gets all the credit

So, somehow, Rex is a bad coach here, but Belichick was a "hell of coach" in Cleveland, despite Rex having a superior record by far?

And somehow, going from 16-0 against a hard schedule and earning home field advantage through playoffs to 11-5 against an easy schedule and missing the playoffs entirely proves he's not completely reliant on Brady. That about right?

You make no sense.

I have never said Rex is a bad coach.  I will say that taking over a 9-7 team is not the same as taking over a 3-13 team, but Rex did a very good job with a rookie QB.  Again, I like Rex as a coach. I think he is what he is.  If he is in a good situation he can be very good and lead a team to a title.  If not, you see what happened the last few years of his Jets' tenure.

As a fan of a team with QB issues, you would think you could appreciate what the Patriots did in 2008.   Easy schedule or not he won 11 games with a guy that had 33 college passes and 39 pro passes.  By comparison Geno attempted over 1400 passes in college.

Nobody thought Sanchez was ever a good qb. he had a few good games.

So all the people that believe BB is one of the best coaches in the nfl are wrong, but a few jet fans are right because they know.

Only because 2 teams decided to sit all their starters.

If that doesn't happen, Bozo the Clown has exactly 1 winning season in 6 years.

And BTW, just "making" the playoffs means $hit if you don't do anything once you get there.
