Jets #2

No, not in the AFC East.

ESPN's page 2 has them with the second worst free agent signing.

2. Neil O'Donnell (Jets, 1996)

O'Donnell seemed like a decent pickup when the Jets signed him to a five-year, $25 million deal in 1996. Under his guidance, the Steelers had made the playoffs four years in a row, and won the AFC title in 1995. But in his first Jets season he separated his shoulder, and started only six games; the Jets went 1-15. In 1997, Jets head coach Bill Parcells benched him in the middle of several games

Weak.

Colvin was great before his injury. Considering he was in a wheel chair and barely walking well into 2004. I think 5 sacks coming off the bench is pretty good. I cannot wait to see what he brings this year.

Is Colvin still the next Lawrence Taylor?

Yeah,The Jets have had some awful free agent signings.

You know what happens to alot of bad teams. They can't entice the premiere free agent to come to their team. So they have to overpay for the second rate player.

That's what happened with Neil O'Donnell.

The Jets in 93 tried to be a big player in free agency. They went hard after the late great Reggie White. They wined and dined him and he chose Green Bay.

Jets had to settle for the likes of Leonard Marshall, Ronnie Lott and Boomer Esiason.

Things have changed with The Jets, They are a more desired destination than they were in the past.

Teams with poor repuations either overpay for mediocre players or sign guys at the end of their careers.

Look at The Arizona Cardinals or Bengals. Probably the two teams in The NFL with the least prestige.

They struggle to get outside free agents.Arizona gets players like Orlando Huff, Kurt Warner and Robert Griffith. Players who couldn't get starting jobs anywhere else.

Why would signing Colvin be #1. The guy was good and got injured. He contributed the Patriots success this year and was not a liability.

O'Donnell was in the right place at the right time but was nothing more than a good backup.

I guess Leon & Richie are both believers that QB'ing in the SB makes you a great QB!
