I think what tilts it in favor of Philly is that McCoy's numbers can be replaced and they had no Kiko, so it improves them at a need position with a guy with more football left in his career and a better cap number. Buffalo takes on a huge cap hit, a player whose best season already happened and literally did nothing but replace the numbers they already had coming from RB. Just with one player, as opposed to a committee. Meanwhile, Alonso added into the mix on that defense might have actually helped perpetuate the mirage that Rex is somehow improving an already great defense. I think I'm mostly amused by Buffalo becoming a dumping ground for Chip Kelly's unwanted RBs. If McCoy is still the player he was for 3 more years, this is a good deal for them. I think the combination of Fred Jackson and Spiller and whoever else is on par with McCoy and whoever else has to spell him. Same numbers. It gives the Bills a better fantasy running back though. I was just reading that Chip Kelly was using Sproles as the receiving back and Chris Polk as the goal line back. McCoy went from 5+ YPC to 4.2. Another good point. I was just looking at it from the perspective of having him in the passing game and how effective that would be against our slow linebackers. Money, need, the attitude of a player, the available talent etc all have an effect here. The problem is that I don't believe the Bills brass are including all variables. They're excited to get a ground and pounder. Straight up in a non inclusive world, I may choose Mccoy, but it's not that easy. He traded the DROY runner up two years ago for an $11 mil Rb in a year where a very good RB can be had up until rd 4 or so. Not good management. Add to that that it's most likely including rex's boner for Harris and it's that much more blind of a move. Of coarse it's not that easy. It's just a simple question to say who doe you think is overall more valuable. Just for discussion. Obviously all the variables need to be considered. Well, McCoy is 26 years old and has not shown any signs whatsoever of slowing down so I think the Bills will get about 3 years out of him. Kiko didnt prove that he can play in a Rex Ryan defense because he never played for Rex Ryan, though I think Kiko is a fine player. But when you get a season ending injury and someone basically can in on a "plug and play" and the defense ended up as one of the top defenses in the league, when a guy who doesnt get injured and looks to be at the top of his game is available for trade, then you do it especially if you need help on that side of the ball. McCoy is a better answer than Spiller. You dont go Demarco Murray because Murray is a one year guy. Murray hasn't had the career that McCoy has had, and he's not as durable, playing an entire season for the first time this year. That would be a "splash" but not as smart as this. How you replace Kiko? Draft maybe? I told someone earlier that I think along with the WR's, the linebacker crop this year is pretty nice. In my honest opinion, the Bills were better off keeping Kiko, resigning Spiller, and going from there. LeSean has a massive CAP number, a ton of mileage and is reportedly already incredibly unhappy. The Eagles just freed up a ton of CAP space, got an absolute STUD linebacker, and can replace McCoy in FA or the draft with a younger and cheaper player with less wear and tear. www.overthecap.com This posted by Jason! The team already signed Richie Incognito to play guard, but arguably need three more lineman to allow the running game to excel. The move will likely mark the end of CJ Spillers career with the Bills and could spell the end of veteran Fred Jackson’s. Releasing Jackson would save the team $2.7M in cap room. Spiller is a free agent. No trade can be made official until the first day of the NFL League Year so its possible that the trade could never happen if someone gets cold feet, but it sure sounds like it will happen. The Eagles will have well over $40 million in cap space to use to improve the team and should be expected to be a big player in free agency. We will attract way more free agents with a real QB at the helm. As for the trade. Alonzo is completely unproven. Coming off a major injury. Yes, he's one hell of a talent and he's cheap for the next 2 years. But trading a guy who could easily be the best RB in the game, straight up, for a potential one year wonder coming off a major injury sounds like a coach who was given too much power playing madden with a real franchise. Hope he does the same sh*t with us and Foles. LOL Well, if what Chip wants and is crazy as hell about is Mariota, we can't pull any trigger now. We have to wait til the 6th pick comes up, hope Mariota is there, and then pull the trigger (and also be ready to actually draft Mariota). So the information the Eagles provided to Rosenhaus is correct, even if the two teams have struck a deal in principle. Even if an agreement has been reached between the two teams, either side can back out. If McCoy makes it clear that he’s not on board with the deal, the Bills may not want him. Kind of like when Rex chose scrub azz Geno to start the season over Vick. That was his choice. I don't think Rex has the input power like Chip Kelly does. Overall, two great players trade places but it doesn't make sense for the Bills who could have just resigned Spiller and kept Kiko, who is a phenom in the making. Rex is a defensive coach. I cant see him signing off on this. And yes you are right - I am out of my mind. In Buddhist philosophy, one strives to be out of his mind. CJ finds out while he's on the show! So they start talking about teams where CJ can land & Solomon Wilcox says, "I know a place where your old coach Chan Gailey is coaching".
