Doggin94it
Marchall/Decker/Harvin/Kerley/Amaro or Marshall/Decker/Kerley/Draft Pick/Amaro Either way, and all locker room and risk issues aside (tought hough that is), WR would certainly not be a weak talent unit with that group. Harvin as #3/#4 Trickster >>> Harvin as #1/#2 Starting WR. But boy oh boy, while the talent is there, is there a more disaster-potential WR group than one with Marshall AND Harvin? Risk/Reward, I suppose. If the price was a 5th, and we're not locked in long-term, seems a very smart short-term whilst-we-have-space/cash deal for while the team rebuilds. Harvin's a goner - no chance you pay 10M and a high 4th to a 3/4/trickster. This is the "get a replacement first" strategy I was talking about in the Harvin thread
Tinstar
1. The GM said he had input in who was going to start at QB. From Day 1. 2. Who signed David Garrard and Michael Vick? When those are your options, why not start Geno? 3. When you don't have QB you take the next best 1? They why didn't they take Bridgewater, Carr, Garoppolo or even Manziel? Here's my reply: Do you know for a fact that Idzik didn't tell the staff that Geno wasn't ready ? I don't, but I knew he wasn't ready to start in a WCO, not even knowing how to take snaps from under center. Don't know . I would have drafted Bridgewater over Calvin Pryor in a N Y minute and twice on Sunday.

NJ
Over the years there have been no bigger Cutler fan than me. He's the guy I wanted to draft instead of Brick Ferguson and still would have to this day. Have you seen Cutler play lately ? He's a veteran, been in the league for yrs, and he makes Geno Smith look like a stud. Who's fault was the horrific Bears offense last year? Marshall, Jeffery, Forte, Bennett, Wilson. I'm not a fan of Trestman but that sh!t show cant be all on him.
JetBlue
Dude, he's a football player who makes plays. It's something the Jets don't have. Do you realize that lasyt yr the Jets had no WRs who could take the ball away from a defender on those 50/50 balls. You win with talent, and this is a talented player who can teach the 2 young WRs on or roster how to play the game. Tin, don't even bother. Some folks on this board just have an agenda and are content to bitch and moan about everything.
Sperm Edwards
Tanny did it with holmes, idzik w/ harvin and now mac w/ marshall. There is a reason teams are giving these guys away for nothing. Y do we keep falling for this over and over and over? Reason: same old jets. Same old jets is alive and well. Unbelievable. Trading for Holmes was a great move. Re-signing him for $9M/year with $20M guaranteed was as dumb as extending Sanchez with $20M guaranteed. Maybe dumber.
Mike135
Decker and Kerely have gotta be thrilled. This move lets both of them play roles they're more suited for. And Geno?.. If he can somehow manage to be the week 1 starter, this could mean a huge improvement for him. I'm not holding my breath, but if he's given a 3rd season to prove himself, he won't have any excuses. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Dcat
actually BPD is one of the toughest mental illnesses to treat and to stay recovered, although there is some evidence it's less severe as you age.. Marshall just got arrested in NY for hitting a girl, within the last 2-3 years I believe "just" got arrested? He wasn't arrested. The incident was about 9 months after Marshall was diagnosed with BPD and began his meds. On early Sunday, March 11, 2012, two days before his trade to the Bears, Marshall was accused of hitting a woman in the face at a New York club and being involved in a melee. The New York Post stated that Marshall, his wife and some friends were at Marquee when a brawl ensued, and Marshall punched the woman below her left eye, although he may have been attempting to hit the woman's friends.[101] The investigation later ended after a lack of evidence of Marshall's role in the incident. Doggin94it
I understand he knows him. I'm concerned that the HC supported a move that, initially, I think is bad, regardless of that fact. Wondering why you don't like the move. Marshall for a 5th, cut Harvin and keep the 4th, save on net cap, is a much better plan than cutting Harvin and getting into a bidding war for Cobb/Maclin/Smith (which saves us all of a 5th round pick and likely costs more money, and especially cap flexibility moving forward, than Marshall does) or keeping Harvin at a higher cap cost and losing a 4th round pick. What's the downside?

Doggin94it
Idzik and Rex's CBs were supposed to be Milliner , Mcdougle and Wilson . 2 of em got hurt and nobody available was worth ruining the cap to attain after that. Rex needed to adjust and didn't. He threw those guys out there to do things they couldn't and it made everyone look bad. Who was Idzik supposed to spend money on that was worth it when all the CBs got injured ? The Baltimore Ravens almost beat the Pats with a bunch of crap at CB in the playoffs because they adjusted. Rex Ryan is / was a Lousy HC and a 1 trick pony as a DC. Actually, it was supposed to be Patterson and Milliner

Embrace the Suck
Yeah. Brandon Marshall is the postsr child for being patient while a young qb learns the rope. I cant believe im reading some of this stuff. Poster child for being patient? He's here short term. He gives the jets a lot of flexibility on draft day. Who needs him to be patient? He just needs to catch the damn ball the next year or two. He isn't a long term solution he's a short term band aid.
Doggin94it
100% correct. Marshall is the poster child for mental health rehab and is a shining example of success through accurate diagnosis and treatment. This board is so full of ignorami that all they can see is past bad behavior and assume there has been no change. Some people here never let facts get in their way of displaying their own inability to reason. Agreed. Been pulling for him for years; borderline is a no-fooling awful diagnosis, and he's been doing really great things since he got help. Will be nice to root for him in green and white. Dcat
Could not have said it better. I liked the gm/coach but was slightly concerned that they didnt cut harvin right away. Now this awful move, and its over. These guys are as clueless as the last regime. Damn. Only an idiot would cut Harvin before they acquired someone to take his place. They had until March 19th to cut Harvin and preserve their 4th rounder so why do it earlier than that? It gives them over a week to explore free agency and see who they can get. They should still hold Harvin until then.
