Watched first episode, season 2,  of "Man in the High Castle".

So far, not very good.

The object or person in a movie that everyone seeks is typically called the Mcguffin. It may be crucial, solving all the plot issues. Like blowing up the Death Star or Charles Grodin in "Midnight Run". Or it may be trivial, merely a reason to move the plot along, like the golden suitcase we never see the inside of as  in "Pulp Fiction". But if you're going to make these films  so critical to your story, you have to, at some point very soon, explain why. Who filmed it? When where, why, how. Why does anyone care? Ideas and images can be important. But only to a point. You cannot bomb Berlin with movies, or shoot Japanese soldiers with a projector. If the US was conquered by Nazi Germany and Japan, we aren't getting our country back because of ...some movies. Not familiar with the Philip K. Dick novel. But i also understand one of the original producers left pointedly because he didn't agree with the "direction" of the show.

Stephen Root is The Man, and that at least will keep me watching for a bit.  But you cannot have a show that keeps so much hidden and unexplained before I check the eff out  (looking at you, "Blindspot").

Anyone watch Black Mirror on Netflix. Three seasons but only like 10 episode season total. And you can watch them in any order. Kind of like The Twilight Zone in that they're stand alone shows. Pretty good stuff. A lot of political and technological commentary in them. Fascinating stuff but some of it is painful to watch and also totally worth it.

Just subscribed to NetFlix a few weeks ago.  Right now, going through "House of Cards" which is awesome.  Thanks for the tip on "Black Mirror".  Sounds interesting and will definitely check it out.

Peaky Blinders is Sons of Anarchy, re-skinned for a different country/period. Same construct. Crime family, multiple adversaries, all roads for problem-solving point to the main character, whose achilles heel is falling in love with a good girl with a touch of a bad streak in her, and the moment one problem is dealt with another rises in its place.

I find it more entertaining than SoA, perhaps because of the period aesthetic.

It is very good and Tom Hardy's brief appearance was excellent - he's great in everything!

Just watched the first two episodes last night with my family.  We were all blown away.  Absolutely brilliant writing, directing, editing and especially art direction.  Incredible stories so far.  Thanks for the recommendation.  Can't wait to watch more later today.

No problem. I'm off this week so getting a lot of Netflix in.  Just finished sense 8 which was kind of cool. Did the OA over Christmas. I enjoyed that too, but it's not for everyone. Have to suspend a lot of disbelief in that one.

Watched more episodes last night.  The second season ender, "White Christmas", is without a doubt one of the greatest pieces of TV I've ever seen.  Incredibly creative, with tons of futuristic "gadgets" which are both imaginative and frightening.  Also, awesome acting performance by John Hamm.

Season three episode one with Bryce Dallas Howard is incredible. Let me know when you see that.

Watched it last night with a few others.  She's amazing in the role.  Love how she degenerates into that awesome wedding scene.    Again, how the writers have incorporated the expanding role of media in daily life is spot on.

The episode with the people who get caught doing things on the internet, then must follow the instructions of the anonymous other folks on their cell phones, was phenomenal.  I can't believe more people don't know about this show.  Just as with "Orphan Black", I'm grateful that I was turned onto it.

Been binging "Vikings" . A fun show. Obviously they went to school on gang life in "SoA" and right down to casting the lead.

One of my favorite shows, pretty damn good production values for a show on the History channel.

Last night's season premier of It's Always Sunny is one of the most brilliant half hours of television ever.

The show at the end of its run will be one of the longest running live action comedy series of all time, on for at least 14 years. But up through now it has never gotten its proper due.

I don't know if it's because its on FXX or because its on at 10 p.m. for only 13 episodes a season. Or because the show is centered around a bunch a**holes, but it's one of the best shows of all time.

There have been some down episodes, but in 12 years never IMO a down season.

The five actors play their roles perfectly and how Charlie Day has not gotten so much as an Emmy nomination in the comedy category is beyond me. Just look at the episode "Charlie Work" from a couple seasons ago. Far and away a better performance than anyone else in the best supporting actor in a comedy series category that year.

The show is in my top 3 of all time for any genre.

top three comedy for sure. seinfeld, simpsons (seasons 1-10) its always sunny in no particular order. the fact they get no recognition is borderline criminal

The unauthorized "Lethal Weapon" sequel was hysterical, among many others.Thanksgiving one  also stands out.

Anyone watching 'Taboo' with Tom Hardy?   I love me some Tom Hardy. He seethes 'just touch me once more!"  Nice mix of history, British law, period sets and clothing, hints at cannibalism, PTSD, tribal magic, murder, ghosts, necromancy, soon to come detailed and disgraceful social commentary on the horrid mistreatment of blacks, the horrors of slavery, and a whole lot of death. It comes out that Tom Hardy's character is also bi-racial, which makes it even more interesting. It's only been one episode, and it's already got a slow burn going on, which is perfectly fine.  Sometimes I think people are just way too impatient for sh!t to blow up - especially literally. Be there or be square.  It's on FX, Tuesdays at 10.

Great show.  Literally the only complaint I have heard about it is from Spanish speakers that were bothered that Moura was Brazilian and had the wrong accent. I guess Colombians were bothered by a bunch of the accents, but nobody hitches his pants like that guy.  Not even Jon Voight.  Supposedly they green-lit the third season about the Cali cartel.

That's great to hear.  It's such a great show.  I'd love to do a historic fact check from the show.  They really make Pablo out to be one of the gnarliest men to ever walk the face of the planet.

Everything about Narcos is amazing. I know, I know....he was a bad dude and in the grand scheme of things he deserved to die a thousand terrible deaths. If this were a fictional tv show though, I'd have been bummed as hell when they killed him. In fact, as a fan of Narcos, I am bummed....cuz that dude playing Pablo was the single greatest thing about that show. He stole every scene. Not sure how much I'm going to enjoy a Narcos without Wagner Moura hitching his pants and staying calm till he breaks and goes Armageddon on the world.

When you watch it, you realize that there is artistic license being taken.  They can't possibly know exactly what happened.  Then you see some of the sh*t and think well, they must have made that up.   Then you watch one of the documentaries and realize, the crazier the sh*t that happened, the more faithful they were  to real events.

Yep.  Thats why I was surprised to hear they were doing a 3rd season.  He was sooo ******* good in that role.

Yep.  Everytime that I thought they had to make that it up, it was something that actually happened.

Yeah, I watched it on my phone on the subway (I know, I know, these people call it "the Metro") and the subtitles helped out before my wife got me the fancy bluetooth headphones for Christmas.

Funny thing about 'Narcos', I was watching this bizarre film about Escobar years ago, not 'Killing Pablo' interviews, something else, rrrrrrrrrrrrrr! It was a dual thing also about Noriega, some of it grainy footage. I'll remember it at three in the morning.  There are hippos running wild in Colombia from Escobar's over the top weird crazy coo-coo zoo, and wild life officials can't contain them. If it has already been in the show, don't anyone take a hippo crap on me because I haven't seen any episodes.  If it hasn't, you're all in for a treat.
