You got me excited now.  I felt the same way about the ending of GOT.

I’ve been on call all week for work, so I couldn’t dabble in it yet, but am going to this weekend.  I also want to start The Boys and Ted Lasso because @Jet Nut won’t stop telling me how great they are.

The lead characters eyes remind me of your JD avatar for bonus points

I'm four episodes in with Amazon's Outer Range, starring Josh Brolin.  So far, not very much going on with this plodding storyline.  Aliens?  Various other dimensions? Time/space continuum fluxes?  You tell me.

Overall, the show is like a Yellowstone wannabe, with much less action and compelling characters.  In his role, Josh Brolin emotes very much like a wooden statue and is also very close to approaching Jeff Bridges-level of mumbling unintelligibility.

Guess I'll hang in to finally see how this is all explained.  But I have a feeling that it will take a while and wind up as unfulfilling/goofy as Cloverleaf and Lost.

So, it has probably been 2 or 3 months since I have posted in this thread.  Ever since a home that I insure, one that is used as an Air BnB burnt down.  The owner did not want to make a claim, and when I suggested that we hire a cause and origin expert to determine the cause of the fire, I was told that the owner does not want anyone investigating.  Rumor has it that the owner's brother-in-law was staying there and using the house to cook meth.  No idea if there is any truth to the rumor, but in discussing it, a few people asked me if I had ever seen Breaking Bad, which I had not.

Started the show a few months ago, and started to see too many spoliers in this thread with the finale of Better Call Saul coming up.  As to the show, I am now in the last season.  I am enjoying the show, but I think it loses something when binged.  Walt's evolution from mild-mannered high school teacher to hardened, violent criminal is too quick to be believeable when you watch it over a matter of two months, rather than the 6 years it took for the series to play out.

I have 8 episodese left to watch (no spoilers please), and then its on to Better Call Saul.

Two of the top 10, no top 5, television series of all time. Aside from Walt's character change in BB, the character development in BCS is flat out spectacular and for almost all the characters too.   Enjoy.   Wife and I have been re-watching BB.  We just finished Season 3.  Season 3 was the pivotal season in BB.  What would Wags say?  (He's say he went on to get a waaaay better gig on Billions.)  And Michael McKean is flat out great as Chuck McGill in BCS. Hard to believe he was Lenny on Laverne & Shirley.

Finally caught up on BCS and Locke & Key. Ehhh BCS was good but that's all it was. The final season didn't wow me or anything. Definitely a solid series on it's own and a good spin off of BrBa but I think a lot of the internet was just trying to recapture the Breaking Bad days and overestimated how amazing each episode was. Locke & Key season 3 was good and I'm glad it ended on a good note before overstaying it's welcome. I think they could have done one more season but I'm also ok with how it ended as well. More shows need to learn to do this.

Also started Sandman and House of the Dragon AND Tales of the Walking Dead.

Sandman I have no opinion on yet.

HOTD has been mostly boring, which imo is a positive because I'm not willing to say it's bad.

I went into Tales of the Walking Dead extremely negative and determined not to like it...and came away pretty surprised. I think after TWD and FTWD Tales is a really good way to explore TWD universe without getting bogged down week to week. There was an episode I didn't really like but knowing that it was just THIS week and I wouldn't have to see the same characters ever again made it a lot more bearable and enjoyable and also made me appreciate the episodes I did like even more.

2 Episodes into Welcome to Wrexham, my wife and I both love it.

They do a great job of showing how the soccer club is tied into the community, how they want to improve, the players want to improve, but also realize they may then not be a part of the team.  It's been very good, but they do curse a lot, so may not be ideal if you have little kids.

Loving House Of The Dragon.

The dialogue is night and day from late stage Game of Thrones and they’re really recapturing the political machinations that disappeared from that show. They’ve nailed the casting too.

I was skeptical about how it would work but so far they’ve delivered. I still have some reservations about how some aspects of the show will be received by a wider audience.

I watched the first 2 episodes of The Patient starring Steve Carrell.  Psychological thriller.  Got me from the opening scene.  I'm in.  My wife asked, well is he funny?  The answer is no, this is not funny. 1st 2 episodes were very good.

Watched Netflix's doc "Falgrant Foul" about crooked ref Tim Donaghy.

Was what you might expect and a good show. But took off in the last segment.

Stern and the  NBA leaked the story when Donaghy was about to be wired. FBI ddid not appear to be all that upset about that, or even look into who leaked it. 52 other refs bet on anything from casinos, horses and sports with bookies in the pre-phone app world; all of that banned by the NBA. Donaghy spoke to one specific ref before and after every game he fixed; he was not fired nor disciplined. One of the bookies Donaghy was working with was feeding his data about games to Gambino crime family bookies. But rather than take a plea, he threatened to call said refs at trial . Suddenly on the eve of trial, feds gave him a sweatheart deal. And Donaghy, remarkably, had his NBA pension restored. After a brief stop in CLub Fed Pensacola, started making bank by being a landlord in Florida. Donaghy also slips up as to how much $ he made in the scheme, telling the feds over 2 years he only got $30K. Subtext is that Donaghy may have been given a nice sendoff as long as he plays along with being the sole bad apple and keeps his mouth shut about any other NBA people.

Finished Star Trek New Worlds.  If you are a fan of the original show and Next Generation, you will probably enjoy the show.

Catching up on BCS.  I was yesterday years old when I discovered Nacho was not apart of Breaking Bad.  I would have swore on the bible he was.

Just curious, is there any way one can express the opinion that She-Hulk is beyond terrible without being called misogynistic? Or does a thing never legitamitely suck if it's about a woman?

Simply say it’s as good as the other Disney Marvel shows. It is known.

Rings of power anyone?

the “look” isn’t as cold and harsh as the trailers, it’s actually not bad.

the Galadriel plot is unfortunately the weakest as it is the focus.

Elrond and durins friendship is the highlight, I really enjoyed it.

Second episode was pretty good. I’ll give it probably 3 more episodes before making a conclusion.

meteor man doesn’t seem to be Gandalf. It’s really wrong lore wise and sinister music and sounds play when he’s on screen. His brown cape suggests maybe radagast but I don’t think so. The big reveal payoff won’t be there for radagast or a new unknown character. Sauron is a possibility but I think they teased him already as the mysterious elf looking character in white, Annatar.  Tom Bombadil is the oldest being and it might be him because the fire fly stars are unknown to the harfoots maybe because of the age. He came from Valinor, but seems like a villain, so it’s possible a new Maia, cast out of Valinor. I just hope it isn’t lame lol

I watched the 1st episode with the wife and my 14 year old, we all loved the movies.  I had read all the books years ago.

It was kinda slow, and really overly dramatic.   The wife was done after one episode, the boy asked why I had punished him after he did nothing wrong.

I'll give it a few episodes, but we shall see.

I agree on the Galadriel part, at least as far as the 1st episode.

Dexter I'm afraid of watching because so many friends have told me that now that I've seen Breaking Bad, Dexter's gonna suck. I should have done it the other way around.

After the season with John Lithgow, tap out.  It is pretty good until that point.

Lol. That post was 7 years ago. Kinda cool that this thread is still running strong actually, but yea I watched Dexter at some point in 2015 or 2016. I enjoyed the hell out of it. I also wasn't super disappointed in the ending the way everyone else was.

Saying it sucks isn't mysoginistic. I thought Sex (the show) with Lena Dunham was awful and I don't think that makes me a mysoginist. That being said, I really enjoy She Hulk.

No but in all seriousness I won't even hate watch Rings of Power unlike say Wheel of Time or Shannara Chronicles. It's not just that the show is bad and likely will continue to be bad but it's also that the people making this show seem to have gone out of their way to sh*t on Tolkiens legacy. I'm just glad Christopher Tolkien wasn't alive to see what they did to his dads work although I suspect that was part of the plan all along because Christopher was very protective of the rights.

I know I'm waaaay late on this but I watched Queens Gambit the other day.

I had been avoiding it because someone told me I probably wouldn't like it but wouldn't you know it I put it on randomly and watched the whole thing. Thought it was great.

I think the main reason I allowed myself to be talked out of watching it was I thought it would just be a really hacky "IM A WOMAN AND I CAN PLAY CHESS BETTER THAN ANY MAN" type of show and while the show didn't shy away from sexism in the "chess world" (it was the 50s-60s after all) they didn't make it THE FOCUS and the main character barely cares she just loves chess.

Very good series highly recommend.

Actually been enjoying House of the Dragon. Reminds me of GOT when it was good.

It’s got better and better imo.

Paddy Considine bas absolutely killed it as Viserys. Just a master actor who steals every scene he’s in. The young actresses for Alicent and Rhaenyra were great as well, I think that’s their last episode.

They’ve done so well adapting a story which wasn’t nearly as easy to adapt as ASOIAF. They’ve made the characters even more compelling than their book counterparts. All they could really do in these early episodes was set up the conflict and get me caring about those involved and they’ve done that.

I do think the violence has seemed forced in at times but that may just be a HBO thing.

House of the Dragon got me all back into the GOT feels.

I'm gonna give it a few episodes, but it may be worthy of it's own thread.

Lot's of blood, violence and boobies....how can you complain.

Pretty bored with the charachters to date.  thought the first episode had potential but It got progressively unwatchable.

the reboot gave it a much better ending.  Problem is you have to live through the entire reboot, which is not that bad, but highly predicable.  The villain was outstanding in it.
