OuttaSightPF
There's no reason no to draft a back still. I think there's a chance the Ivory role could be up for grabs in camp- between him and Ridley....I dont think Ivory is a lock for the roster I guess.. Or the thoughts are- we suck at QB, defenses are getting smaller and adding as many backs as possible is the way to go. Especially bruisers. Almost impossible to carry 4 backs on the active roster. I am sure there will be GUARNTEED money for the Ridley deal, and we just resigned Powell. With Ivory, Ridley and Powell on the roster no way we draft a RB. We will bring in another one for camp, but won't draft one... At least not in the first 5 rounds. Ivory has done nothing but play well, and he's only 27. Why would we think he would get cut or traded?
Tinstar
Maybe a precursor of an ivory deal to come. If we can get a 3rd for Ivory i'd do it in a sec. He's 27 and with his style he prob has 2 years tops left in those legs After we draft Todd Gurley this mook will be shown the door. At least he wasn't a freaking fish. UnitedWhofans
I've had big questions about some moves we have made and the way these contracts have been structured. But this move is senseless. I'm seriously getting worried. This is an outstanding RB draft. We have 2 seasoned vets in Powell and Ivory. Why sign an aging RB coming off a major injury?? We NEED a young player at this position. Ajayi, Duke Johnson, even Josh Robinson as a late round pick. Why sign this guy? I really wish we had brought in an expierienced GM. Who? Maybe you are jumping the gun thinking this means they don't draft a back. I was kind of hoping for a trade down with the likes of cleveland and take Gordon with the extra pick. Don't know if Duke will be there for us in rd 2, but probably. A while back it was feasible that Gordon might be there in rd 2, but now everyone says he's 1st round gone. If picking up Ridley is an indicator they are not interested in drafting a back, then I'd have to question that thinking.
Savage69
Guys I am confident we will still draft a running back. You probably just won't do so until round 4 unless the position is the best on our board. Relax. Remember you in todays' NFL is is running back by committee. There were always multi-back teams especially the Jets.. Fins had Csonka,Kiick and Morris in their Bowl winning year.

I doubt they'll be more than $100K in guaranteed $$$, if that.
JetBlue
There were always multi-back teams especially the Jets.. Fins had Csonka,Kiick and Morris in their Bowl winning year. I know but the position has been so devalued in recent years and although there were teams who rotated backs, during that era running backs were as big a star as quarterbacks. There was such a thing as a "franchise running back". You know, like your favorite player Curtis Martin

If 100K is all we are on the hook for if we cut him inAugust I competly change my position and am all for this signing. But I am sure it's not

aec4
hes a fumbler tho. just wait till he gets his hands on our balls !!!! His fumbling is overrated. Belichick made a huge deal of it but truth is hus fumble rate isn't horrible.
Mo Lew
Not sure why people are trading Ivory. He's a beast and and since Geno will most likely be our starter the more offensive consistency the better. As for Ridley, if Chan opens things up we may not have as much need for a fb, allowing for a 4th rb.

Ridley & Powell provide high reception opportunities, which Ivory thus far has not shown as effectively. All 3 of these RBs may not be here in 2016. We WILL draft a RB this year. It's Buffalo in 2010 all over again. They drafted Spiller @ #10 that year. The physical RB - Lynch, Ivory- do not FIT Gailey's system if history is ANY indicator. Can't catch and fumbles and coming off injury. This is stupid. Why do this before the draft? Ivory might be in jeopardy though, that is true because if he truly chose the Jets because of Gaileys offense then they promised him a big role. You do realize we don't have a RB under contract past this year. Ivory is on the last year of his deal and Powell & Ridley signed 1 year deals. Who cares about the guaranteed $$$ Ridley got, if he can't come back to form he's gone. On top of that why are people complaining about him??? Other than this year when he got hurt he's averaged over 4 yards a rush: http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/14028/stevan-ridley We'll draft our future workhorse RB this year
