Rex Ryan throws the Jets under the bus with bomshell SI article.

Yeah but, seriously, no.

I like Rex. I want to win a contest where I get to be his best friend for a week. Knocking back beers from the keggerator in his garage before going upstairs and licking his wife's toes while he watches. Man, that would be great.

I can't root for him in the division. I hope his haters are closer to correct about him than logically possible. Particularly the amateur psychobabble. But I want the offense there to be stagnant, and the defense to be unable to get a takeaway. That'll work for me.

Well, well, well, look who's coming around.

Nobody ever really "attacks" her. We're all rather easy on her, but she is still eligible for gentle chop-busting, and she's a good sport about it.

That said, if you're up to your sly old tricks of warming up to the ladies on the interwebz by playing knight in shining armor, it's cool, I'll can respect your game you dirty old coot!

Jeanie's a Bills fan, but I haven't witnessed much (if any) trolling from her. She seems like a good sport, volleying attacks at her and her new head coach rather pleasan

I enjoy coming in here to read about what posters are saying about Rex and our team.  I also belong to the Bills Mafia and there are NY Jet Fans that do likewise.   I do understand why NY Jets Fans are frustrated with Rex.  In all honesty,  when the Bills were down,  there were plenty of negative comments about our HC and other coaches, players, etc.   Everybody makes mistakes.  Through his own admittance,  Rex admitted his mistakes and that he also learned from them.    We really love him here in Buffalo as the NY Jets loved him when he first joined the team.  I just sense that all the right pieces (if you will) are falling into place and we can look finally look forward to,  at very least, the playoffs this year.  For a team that hasn't seen the playoffs in 15 years,  this is very exciting.

That's not my game, but I do have a sock drawer full of Cialis if Jeanie and I find ourselves developing some sort of chemistry.

Rex will routinely tell the media/fans that he "learned from his mistakes" ... while repeating them.

Anyway, be excited. That's what this game is all about.

I like Rex a lot. I like his personality. He's an enthusiastic guy who feeds the people around him with his energy. I consider him to be completely genuine, and I think the players sense that, too. Great qualities. He's also a top notch X's and O's guy when it comes to fielding a defense.

Unfortunately, I'm not convinced he's learned much from his past mistakes. The crew of assistants he brought to Buffalo were underachievers here. Rex is loyal to a fault, and sometimes that works against him. His plan for your team is the same plan he had here: have a solid defense and running game overcompensate for the lack of a QB. Is your defense and running game good enough to make that work?

I'd also limit Rex's input in personnel decisions, but that doesn't appear to be your team's model.

Either way, good luck. You seem to be one of the good ones.

What do you think of Todd Bowles so far?

He hasn't promised us a SB, hasn't insulted the Patriots, hasn't threatened to kick the sh*t out of anyone else around the league. So, that's nice.

He also hasn't put his own public profile above the team.

Other than that, I haven't seen what he puts on the field, or how it produces. Which is all that matters.

I'm optimistic because 2 years ago when the majority of Jets fans didn't want Rex fired, I wanted us to can him and hire Bruce Arians. So, I consider Bowles about as close as we'll get to hiring someone like Arians for now.

I truly hope he's not another in a long line of bad hires for the Jets organization.

That's about all I can say at this point.

Thank you Slats.  I also wish the Jets best of luck  with one exception of course.

God Bless anyone who could refrain from insulting the Patriots.  If I had the ability to hate,  that team would be at the top of  my list.  I asked about Bowles because I read an article that led me to believe he might be a little to tough on the team.  I am all for management respecting their subordinates (if you will).   For some reason Bowles comment really  bothered me.  Guess I must have been at the bottom of my list of things to worry about that day.  I like that Rex (from  what I've seen) has respect for his players.

Just another reason why Rex will never become a SB coach, do you really seeing Belicheck caring what a rookie TE thinks of him.

He really should've went to college, would've been a perfect fit for him.

I'm sure you're aware that Rex did go to college. In my opinion,  never say never.   We look forward to another shot at the SB

Bowles has a reputation for being a player friendly coach. He's been very no nonsense in his interviews, and that's either him being media savvy, or completely distrusting of the media. He's not a Doug Marrone. He's disciplined and organized, but his players also love playing for him. He's a Parcells disciple who seems to want to cultivate both love and respect from his players. He's a rookie head coach, we'll see how it works out.

I'm more excited about Maccagnan as our GM. After way too many years with accountants running the personnel department, we finally have a genuine football guy in charge. A lifelong scout. A man who's made his career evaluating talent rather than manipulating the salary cap. If he can bring in talented football players, Bowles job will be easy.

There's probably more to this story.

"Ryan’s appearance suggested potential loss of control; so did Baltimore newspaper articles describing the bloody mess Ryan made of a neighbor’s face after an argument in 2002."

Ryan explains it now: “The neighbor’s kid was bullying my kid. Crossing the line. Threatening him all the time. I went over there to tell him what was going on. I had on flip-flops. I wasn’t there to fight. It was a misunderstanding between a couple of dudes where one thing led to another. In the league, they wanted to make sure I wasn’t a loose cannon. They sent me to a psychiatrist."

Ny times.

Players like Rex, they don't necessarily respect him.

That was one of a handful of fatal flaws in his approach. He wants to be the "cool Dad". He thinks and manages the team like a fan, not like a coach.

where did I say I thought Rex did a good job? He didn't do as bad a job as some here like to pretend, but that doesn't mean he was good

That is the crux of our disagreement cause I think it's complete baloney

There is no way that Rex wanted to go into the season with poo at CB. And Rex was never a Geno guy, just look at the difference between how Geno was talked about / treated and Sanchez.

The 2 biggest reasons for our failures last year were QB and CB.. that's all idzik

When someone is constantly defending Rex, I assume that person believes Rex did a good job, but your logic is a bit hard to follow, so maybe that was an incorrect assumption on my part.

Going into the preseason he went in the season with the number 9 pick at CB whom he himself was going to be a great CB, and a decently regarded FA CB. Rex's typical inability to manage his players lead to Patterson being gone, and injuries happen, good coaches deal with them, don't use them as an excuse.

As for Geno, when has Rex ever given two sh*ts about the offense or the QB?? He only cares about "his" defense, not "the" offense, more excuses from Rex apologists.

Rex had a dominating D line, decent LB's, Jack Tatum at safety, a very good running game, and some good WR's, this team was not as void of talent as Rex apologists make it out to be.

Idzik was a joke, Rex was as much if not more of a joke. Thank God they are both gone.
