Augustiniak
it is so reassuring to finally have a personnel guy as gm. how different is this, i actually am not worried about who they pick.

DaBallhawk
- Doesn't want to comment on Mo situation. He's not here, he's working out elsewhere. Macc is focused on the draft, Mo contract talks are on the backburner it sounds.

DaBallhawk
"Is it important to be a draft winner on Monday?" Yeah, because that's when you know you've "won" and picked the right guys. Hours after the draft.

KRL
They'll probably post it later on the Jet website but he's impeccable with the media. In his 30 minutes he gave you a ton of info on his philosophy and the process. Basically don't expect a trade up look for a trade down and need is very low on his list when evaluating players. If you factor in need "too early" you'll "skew the process" (his words)

AFJF
Not directed at you, but isn't this the same kind of things we were saying about Idzik his first draft? Idzik was a "breath of fresh air" because he wanted to build "sustainable success"...every new HC/GM we bring in is the same "breath of fresh air" until they aren't. LOL Yep. Can't wait to see what the board will be saying in 3 years. Can't remember a HC-GM that left here not hated. BTW, great article on Reilly. Why haven't you brought it over to the board? Clementi49
^^^ that is until the stupid jets fans run him out of town. Honestly it would of been nice to see what idzik could of done with cap space he himself created. Idzik did draft the droy when everyone hated the pick. Can't knock him for everything. I do like Mccags way better though
DaBallhawk
Not directed at you, but isn't this the same kind of things we were saying about Idzik his first draft? Agreed. But he didn't fail here because of how he handled the media, he failed because he just wouldn't improve the team in the offseason and his drafts were horrible. He was in over his head, he didn't know what he was doing. In terms of handling the media I thought he did a good job mostly, despite having Rex there who kept cracking jokes. He was trying to be all business and keep it professinal, he never really said too much, never gave out too much info. I liked that. The rest of him I hated. Clementi49
The olb comment by him is interesting. Now I don't think we take one in the first round simply because we are in the area of the draft where we need an instant player. If he thinks it takes a couple years to get the olb cycle going and developed. He's taking a project at that spot. Not a first rd top tier pick who needs to produce. Glad you liked it...I think he could be a solid all-around type of player.

Could do both, the best way to ensure some success at a position in a draft is to double dip. Often teams and us fans get caught up in the fact we drafted one player at one position and then think, that position is covered. I expect two olbs to be picked in this draft by the Jets.
