In a stunning move, the New York Jets selected USC defensive lineman Leonard Williams with the sixth overall selection of the 2015 draft.

While Williams doesn’t fill an immediate need for Gang Green, the Jets clearly stuck to their draft board as the 6′ 5”/302 lb lineman was considered by many to be the best overall player in the draft.

The move will surely fuel speculation regarding the future of Jets lineman Muhammad Wilkerson who is in the midst of a contract dispute.

Entering his fifth season, Wilkerson wasn’t re-signed during a offseason spending spree that saw GM Mike Maccagnan use roughly $50 milllion in salary cap space.

Hahahahahahaha

Infamous words that shall induce the ingestion of CROW

Would love to eat crow, that would be great.

Somehow I get the very familiar feeling that we will be an ok defense while our offense continues to break NFL records for sucking balls. T

I understand aNd a VALID point/concern at this point in time.

I have faith in Chan Gailey (look at 2000 Phins offense w/Fiedler & Bills/Fitzy offense, he can scheme us to a win) and what MacCags has left for the rest of the draft.

We do now have an ELITE Defensive Line for the NEXT 2 YEARS MINIMUM.

It is nice that they seem to be sticking to the best available player philosophy.  OTOH, please note that Idzik's second pick was Sheldon Richardson and everybody was stunned. We thought he was going best available and were excited about this new era of smart drafting.  Most were surprised at Sheldon over Star Lotulelei, but still... he waited on the QB and we were impressed he was sticking to his guns.  Turns out that was the only pick he made that looks truly good so far.  It will be interesting to see where they go from here.  As the draft goes on, I think it makes more sense to get guys that fit your team and need, so I would hope for more O, but there is also more opportunity for a highly rated guy to be sticking out unpicked like sore thumb.  What the **** will they do if Goldman is their top rated player next round?

Find out who was their pick was if the Skins took Williams instead of Scherff.

Guessing White. Would still like to know

Guessing they would have tried to trade back with Atlanta or Giants. Atlanta really wanted Beasley and May have thought we would take him. Giants really loved Scherff. If trade happened, think pick would have been Peat or Davonte Parker. This all assumes that Scherff wasn't t their top rated guy at that point.

white, 90% sure, unless trade out of pick..

With this D, all we will need is a respectable offense.  Let's see what happens in the next two rounds.

I must have heard it 100 times, both before and during the draft.  Mayock, for one, said it every time his name came up.

Heard it on NFL network this morning from the dude who sits next to Lavaar Arrington....Eric Davis?

I am not crazy about the pick I just have some concerns about Williams as I have heard many say his ceiling is Mo Wilk. He seems to have a Mr nice guy type of personality he dosent seem have a nasty streak to him and I heard he has some shoulder issues. Hopefully we keep Mo. If we keep Mo I will definitely feel better about the pick. I still would have  prefered White. Lokk at what the Miami did they have an older WR in Jennigs and drafyed a future #1 in Parker, smart move by Mike T. If Decker or Marshall go down we are in the same boat as last year. I have no faith in Quincy or Evans. Just my opinion please correct me if I am wrong.

Can pass a guy who is 20 years old consensus top d player, who could play for the franchise for 15 years.

Bowles is gonna have some fun creating havoc.

The offense might be a snooze this year, but that d is gonna be fun to watch.

Our next 3 picks may all be offense....

best overall player? Now I did hear his name  but no one really said that.

Then you haven't been watching much pre-draft coverage.  And the only person ranked ahead of him in other mocks is Jameis Winston and we all know how QB rankings are skewed. So for non-QB players, he was pretty much the consensus best player in the draft and we got him and guys like you still whine and complain. It's comical.

Jets fans are the worst. Whiniest, woe-is-me fanbase in all of pro sports. We land the best player in the draft and all they do is bitch we didn't grab the 2nd best WR on the board.
