No first round picks, some day 2 moves, not a Rangers fan myself.. but really like Hagelin's game. Sad to see him go.

Rangers making some moves:

NYR trades Carl Hagelin and 59th and 179th picks to ANA for Emerson Etem and 41st pick. Then NYR take Ryan Gropp with 41st pick.

That ANA-NYR deal fueled by financial considerations. Etem, coming out  of entry level, will be far cheaper than what Hagelin would get.

Looks like NYR are trading Cam Talbot to EDM for three picks.

57 79 and 184 the picks in return.

Rangers facing a lot of salary cap pressure like the Pens and the Bruins. Hagelin is basically the same player as Zuccarelo except he kills penalties and Zuke can actually finish. And Zuke is signed longterm(asnd is supposed to be fully recovered).  Hags' speed is great but not many of his rushes end up int he net. IF he ever found that kid of touch he would be a lock for 30 goals with his speed. But it hasn't happened here, or they never make the MSL trade .

News: Martin St. Louis announced his retirement as an NHL player on Thursday.

Analysis: The 40-year-old winger, who recorded 21 goals and 52 points in 74 games with the Rangers last season, finishes up his distinguished 16-year NHL career with 391 goals and 1,033 points in 1,134 games. In addition to being a member of the Lightning when the team won the 2003-04 Stanley Cup, Martin St. Louis -- who entered the league as an undrafted free agent -- also earned his share of individual honors. Most notably, he was awarded the Hart Memorial Trophy as league MVP in 2003-04, as well as being a two-time Art Ross Trophy winner and three-time recipient of the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy.

Buzzing on Yahoo Sports:

Well, he had a good run, and he contributed as a Ranger, especially last year.

Nice win on the road vs the champs to start- the long grind starts

This.

Sucks its an 82 game preseason, but that's what the NHL is now.  Rangers will be good again this year.  Just have to see if they can finally get over the hump.
