"When the wave breaks here, dont be there."

"Plenty of Haole surfers but we blow them away, brah."

"Here on the Island, we treat our friends mo'better."

"Burkhart breaks boards for fun"

"Turtle, you made this?  You shaped a big gun? It's beautiful man"

"You stole his stuff, you pound him"

"That wasnt a wave, that was a ripple.  I've seen bigger waves in a toilet"

"You JOJ?"...What's "JOJ?"..."Just off the Jet, kook".

"Wow, Brazilians are back and more agro than ever"

These lines are literally everyday vernacular in the surfing world.  And they're still applicable.  Brazilians are a common enemy in the water for everyone who isnt from Brazil.

Or just watch this video:

I totally forgot that was a young Laird Hamilton. Holy sh*t.

Lackluster troll is lackluster.

Yeah, I wasn't really trolling you there. Just playing my part in the direction the thread has gone.

I love how bitter you've gotten towards me since I JIF'ed on you in the Frank Miller American Literature thread. Cowabunga dude was right about you, high quality dishing, but too thin-skinned for the taking.

Anyway, carry on with hall monitoring the movie opinion thread... by all means.

I liked Thin Red Line better than Saving private Ryan, but they both came out the same year and Thin Red Line got basically no love at all.

The reverse is I movie I hate and think is completely unwatchable but everyone seems to worship and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture and the lead won the Oscar for Best Actress:

Eric Brochovich. Horrible, unwatchable, formulaic, predictable, sappy gunk. If I wasn't at the theater on a date, I would've walked out.

Yeah, it was actually on recently and all these guys are crazy young.  I can actually remember my big brother taking me to this movie as a kid.  Most of the surfers featured in the movie are over 50 or damn close.  Most still rip too.
