Why no Arena League teams???

None.

Lol what!?!  Dude your hatred is beyond blinding to you.  I do defend players on my team sure.  I do also recognize Geno hasn't been very good at all.  I also recognize stupidity when I see it, such a

The quality of the pass rush is less. Geno can throw the ball. Put an ounce of pressure on him though and his fear for the rush overwhelms him

But he still needs the accuracy, which numbers show he has struggled with - I would argue on the quality of the pass rush too - CFL D-lineman are a yard back (larger neutral zone) so they can get a bit of a running start.

Didn't know Jimmy G was on a 4-game suspension too. Thanks for the intel, mon.

All Tom Brady has to do is give up Bill and all of this unpleasantness goes away...

Well sorta.

Geno would start the first 4 games for Cheatriots

Oh cool, let's trade him for Jimmy G then.

Jimmy G suks Donkey Dik

Too little evidence to say this.  Dude was a 4-year starter (rare to find), completed 66 % of his throws and had a 53 TD/9 INT ratio in his Senior season.  He did so at the same school that produced Tony Romo (he broke pretty much all of Romo's school records in '13), in the same conference that produced Big Ben.  The perfect kind of guy to take in the 2nd/3rd round, one of the rare instances where I felt the Pats made a pretty smart pick, and also one I'd hoped at the time the Jets would make.

I'm not saying he'll be the next Russell Wilson, but much like Teddy Bridgewater, I think he could end up being a solid pro, and one we'll regret having not taken when we had the chance because of our "wait and see" approach with Geno.

Those saying "where is your proof Jimmy G is better" consider this: All we keep hearing is how Fitz might be better than Geno right now, Geno has more upside. Well Jimmy G has even more upside than Geno as he hasn't put up league worst numbers, yet, and looked good in limited action.

70 % completed on 27 throws.  Very small sample but it also falls in line with his college performances.  Granted, he's playing for a cheating franchise, but it's really hard to paint him as anything less than a decent prospect right now.  With the lack of QB's league-wide it'll suck if the Pats found one on the cheap.  Either he'd be the Brady replacement or a guy they can flip for a 1st rounder.

Now that's potential I can believe in.

I'd swap. You take our red headed stepchild Dalton, I'll take Smith. At least Geno has wheels.

Someone call Big Mac before he changes his mind.

I watched Geno play for two years.

Which somehow a hole bunch of JI posters only watched one game of those two seasons.

And you've never seen Jimmy G play a single down.  So no matter what you think Geno is or isnt you dont have a clue that JG is better.  Somehow you want to tell Jet fans that one game is meaningless, while youve seen none

Of course that wont stop you from making believe you do

Geno is at the bottom of the league by almost any measure.  Below the bottom of the league in some statsitical catgeories where some teams may have more than one player with enough starts to qualify.  Given this circumstance why would one not assume that an untested player is automatically assumed to be better than the bottom of the barrel?

Based on what? A wild guess? We'll see if he can give in 4 games what Geno gave at the end of the season or in our first 4. Without the guess

How you can compare someone who has never played a game to someone who has and assume you know he will be better? And then not get how dumb the argument is

Because Geno played for two years and sucked!!         How the hell can you say anything different??

Everyone with a brain will take a untested player over one that everyone knows sucks..

Thats how rosters turn over all the time.  A player sucks and a unproven player takes his place.

Using your theory no player would ever get replaced unless by a FA.

Basic logic eludes you. And rosters turn over when a better player is on the roster, not when clueless fans on a web site decide a player isn't good enough and want anyone to replace that player. Only a fan thinks its policy to replace a player with just anyone every time.

None of this proves that JimmyG will ever be even a scrub NFL QB. But keep arguing that he's better than anyone.

Wait, wait wait,  so are you saying players that suck are not replaced by unknown players all the time??   Like no player ever gets replaced with a different player who has never played in a game before?

Wait, wait, are you saying a coach would replace a QB with a QB he's never seen in practice or a game?  Because, no that would never happen.

Thats what you're doing, a player you've never seen practice or play a game you're insisting is better than someone else.  How do YOU not get it.

Who would play isnt even the argument, its a different argument, players are switched for different reasons.

Because simple logic says you cant, there is nothing to prove that a player who has never player is better or worse.

How many teams have a backup QB who would automatically start for the Jets?

Very few if you believe the reports claiming our backup situation is in good shape.  Cant be much better than the guy who's already here

Your problem is you for some reason does not think Geno sucks, well he does.   He was the worst starting QB in the NFL the last two seasons.  Live with that.    There is not one team out side of the Bills that does not have a better QB and that includes the Jets.    Go back to JL and fight with your self, not one person here agrees with you.

First of he wasnt the worst starting QB, sorry.  But you still haven't figured out it has nothing to do with Geno sucking but its that you don't know if JimmyG sucks more or not?  Is this that hard for you to understand?  You can tell anyone that JimmyG is better than anyone based on what?  Give me one thing you know he knows how to do well other than not be Geno Smith.  But hey, dont get it, continue to argue the dumb fight.  Apparently simple logic is too much to ask for.

The same way you can assume that a random SAT taker is likely to score better than 500.

If you have a ranking of current players and Geno is at the bottom of that list then why would you assume that a new player would enter the list as the new worst in the league?

Are you really basing your case on the idea that Geno is actually 31st out of 32 starting QBs as opposed to being dead last?

Really?

Once again, the last time because if the two of you cant get it by now theres no chance of ever getting through.

No one knows what JimmyG is, you havent seen him throw a single pass in a real NFL game.  To assume that because Geno is near the bottom of last years rankings that JimmyG is the better player today is, trying hard not to say stupid, nothing more than a guess or an assumption.  Can you say without any doubt that Jimmy will be better?  And say it as fact?  Really, this is a concept that is hard to understand, requires debate?

Really, if you dont get this, theres no point in going on, you're just beating a dead horse

Your argument would make sense if a few of the factors were true:

1. The QB was of marginal talent such as lack of arm strength, no mobility, good but not great production in college. This is not true of Geno, he is a very gifted QB.

2.The QB played on a team with strong skills players and had no production. Not true of the Jets. For the two years Geno has been QB our offensive playmakers are maybe the worst in the NFL

3. The QB is a veteran football player Certainly not true of Geno

4. The QB came from a pro style offense so had a smaller learning curve in the NFL. Definitely not true of Geno.

5. The QB was in a good situation for a young QB. Great OL, offensive minded head coach, OC that tailors the offense to the young QB and offensive plays offense, good QB coach. NONE of these are true for Geno, especially the coaching and system Geno was asked to run. if you tried to hand pick the worst offense for a QB like Geno (or Bryce Petty for that matter) you would pick a MM offense. I liked Marty but he did not sync at all with Rex and he is a system guy not an adapter

6, The QB showed little upside and never flashed elite ability. Again not true of Geno. He has shown the capability to be a far above average QB with real playmaking ability. Remember he did have 4 4th quarter game winning drives in 2013.

7. He had a veteran QB mentor to help his development and show him the ropes, help him learn the playbook, etc... Geno did not have that either.

If a few of the above things were true, it would make sense to move away. But NONE of them are. So no one really knows that Geno "sucks". Which leaves you in a situation that you legitimately do not know how good he be at QB in a better environment. He has that now, and has a coaching staff with no ties to Geno whatsoever (making it more likely than not that they are willing to move away from Geno) that looked at all his tape and decided that they could make him the guy,

Because of all these things, I am willing to give him the shot to prove himself. Certainly a better move than starting a retread journeyman with no long term upside.

He was the worst in the NFL last year even with an uptick over the last 4 games.  What that really means is that the rest of "the worst QBs in the NFL" were practically lapping him on the track statistically before his uptick.

If this was the first year that he had a late season improvement then perhaps the idea might make sense that the real Geno is the one we saw at the end of the year and not the Geno who was seen the rest of the time.  The problem of course is that this is the 2nd year in a row that we have been told the same story and by the same set of storytellers to boot.

Geno is horrible and Fitz is clearly a better option even though Fitz is really not an NFL caliber QB either at this point.
