Klecko73isGod
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/07/27/sammy-watkins-its-a-problem-if-we-dont-make-playoffs/ Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins has spent the offseason recovering from surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip, something that allowed him to slow down after a whirlwind first year in the NFL. Watkins thinks that’s a positive, saying that his body “feels great” heading into training camp and that he was able to spend time focusing on the coaching he was getting from new receivers coach Sanjay Lal over the last few months. Watkins says the wideouts were “kind of limited” by the coaching last season, but that Lal’s coaching has given him a greater understanding about how to succeed in the NFL. Watkins’s individual success is going to be tied to quarterback play and that may not work out well for him statistically unless someone wildly overperforms the meager expectations for the Bills signal callers. Watkins isn’t letting it limit his expectations for the team, though. “Winning, playoffs, championship,” Watkins said, via the Buffalo News. “We’ve got a great team and great coaches. I mean, there’s just no way we shouldn’t be in the playoffs or win a championship. I mean, with the team and coaches and staff that we have, and what they’re doing to bring us together, I think that there’s no doubt that we should win our division and be in the playoffs. It’s a problem if we don’t.” The defense and collection of skill position players definitely look ready to make a run at a playoff spot in Buffalo. It’s tough to win with the offensive line and quarterback play playing at a low level, however, and the Bills have to get more from those spots before they can mount a serious playoff push. Jetsfan80
The Bills won't be making the playoffs, but independent of the poor offensive coaching, I suspect Watkins is in for a big year. He got ignored in a big way last year while other rookie WR's were putting up huge numbers. But that by no measure means he takes a back seat to guys like Jarvis Landry when it comes to ability. It's just a damn shame he'll probably be catching passes from 4 different sh*tty QB's this year.

JiF
They're the most talented roster in the NFL outside the QB. Rex has shown he can over come that but the division is going to be mighty tough sledding with out a QB. They're basically the Jets but more talented with a Head Coach who has a ton of experience in the conference.

They are slightly better on offense but we are slightly better on defense. It all evens out.

They're basically the Jets but more talented with a Head Coach who has a ton of experience in the conference. Let's see Rex took a playoff team and led them into a 4 year playoff drought. That experience tells everyone that he should therefore lead a team that's in a 16 year payoff drought to the playoffs.
Klecko73isGod
What ever happened to you are what your record says you are? Apparently that doesn't apply to either the Bills or the Dolphins. It seems I read the same two articles every year: 1. The Bills have the talent to take the next step and make the playoffs - never happens. 2. The Dolphins are on the verge of breaking through and represent the best challenge to the Pats' divisional dominance - never happens. Going to four straight Super Bowls 20-plus years ago and going undefeated in 1972 seems to be perpetually stuck in the collective conscience of NFL media because ever August they act like these two teams are relevant.

It's amazing what the national press will buy into and re report after reading the homer regional medias coverage of these teams. As opposed to the constant criticism and complaining that the local NY press heaps on the Jets.

JiF
All that talent yet no playoff appearances this millennium. That talent really didnt come about until the last few years. This offseason put them over the top though. They havent had a Qb, which hurts. They are one of the few teams that suffer probably worse QB fate than the Jets (since Kelly at least). They started Fitzpatrick for like 4 or 5 years. That's all you need to know. Dude they are not more talented than the Jets. Come on now. They are slightly better on offense but we are slightly better on defense. It all evens out. Oh its better. Not by a ton but its better. They're a better defense. Better DL, better LB'ers...secondary is about equal. I think we've got them at the OL, that's about it. WR's are probably a wash. They've got better RB's. Both with pathetic QB's. The gap isnt huge, but its there. Let's see Rex took a playoff team and led them into a 4 year playoff drought. That experience tells everyone that he should therefore lead a team that's in a 16 year payoff drought to the playoffs. Meh the team over the last 4 years was not playoff caliber. But you're correct. Their HC hasnt been very successful lately. Doesnt change the fact he's familiar with the division. It's an advantage, no matter how want to spin it. It may not mean anything in the long run...but he doesnt have the learning curve that a first time HC or a HC new to division would have. JiF
That's like saying crusher is in tip top physical condition if you don't include the 500lbs of blubber he's carrying around Sure. I'm not saying they're going to the playoffs or anything but if you compared their roster to the rest of the NFL, the only place they'd lose is QB. Every other position group, they'd either win or be damn close to equal. Reality is, it doesnt matter how talented they are because they dont have a QB. Even still, none of these conversation's matter because the Patriots will still go 12-4 and win the SB.
