Winters

The nfl has changed.  Guards are becoming more important than centers and tackles due to the more complex blocking schemes. The guards are often covered and yet account for most of the pulling and downfield blocking. With the disappearance of the nose guard, they are often handling the biggest bodies our there. It's not a position to ignore any longer.

Winters is still not an NFL caliber G. He is over matched in one-on-one schemes more or less the complex middle (C-G) blitz schemes. The NFL is about speed, power and pressure. With Mangold struggling, mostly due to speed as he is beaten badly at the polnt of attack, Winters becomes unsustainable at G.

Agreed.  I'm not a big Aboushi fan but why did we cut him?  He is not worse than Winters.

This is a really good point.  Seemed like he got pushed around in the Colts game a bit, too...

yeah he did. The Oline did well against the Browns and though they kept the pocket clean for the most part during passing plays for the Colts they were suspect during the running game. Yesterday looked like they were exposed a bit.

Now with Colon injured sh*t is about to get real now that we're facing Donkey Kong Suh and the Fins, another team desperate for a win to keep their season alive in their division.

As a side note, now that we have lost and we're facing a desperate division team im looking forward to see how this coaching staff adapts. It will be great to have most if not all our playmakers back next week.

Funny how the line played worse when the oppossition played 7 or more in the box and outnumbered the OL.

Too bad the QB doesn't have the ability to get the ball downfield to make them pay.
