T0mShane
I think it was Olbermann who said that 31 teams are covered by sports reporters, while the Jets have gossip columnists who happen to cover sports. As ever, they'll let Twitter tell them when it's time to start carpet-bombing Bowles and Maccagnan. Not an independent thinker among them other than Connor Hughes and Lopresti, both of whom currently operate outside the institution.
joewilly12
The Jets are calling Geno Smith (shoulder) "day to day" and uncertain to be available for Week 9 against the Jaguars. Smith emerged from Sunday's loss to the Raiders with a sore left (non-throwing) shoulder and soreness in his ribs. Coach Todd Bowles said Geno has a "big bruise" on his shoulder. It sounds like he should be available for Week 9, but that Ryan Fitzpatrick (thumb) has a realistic chance to start.

It's a crap living and a crap schedule, but you're covering the NFL. People would kill to write about football for a living.

joewilly12
Jets working out WRs Free agent WR Jarrett Boykin worked out for the Jets on Tuesday. As did Aldrick Robinson, Greg Salas and Damaris Johnson. The Jets are extremely thin at wideout behind Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker, while Marshall is dealing with toe and ankle injuries. Jetlife33
Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, he of the ailing left thumb, is practicing for the second straight day. No surprise there. The big question is, who will be snapping him the ball? It looks like C Nick Mangold, out last week with a neck injury, will miss yet another practice, but he did some snapping to Fitzpatrick in a QB-C drill. It's more than he did yesterday. It looks like S Calvin Pryor (ankle) will miss his second straight game.

Jetlife33
The New York Jets announced the following injury report on Friday for this week’s game against Jacksonville: Out: S Calvin Pryor (ankle) Doubtful: RB Bilal Powell (ankle) Questionable: OL Willie Colon (knee), WR Brandon Marshall (ankle/toe) and CB Buster Skrine (shoulder) Probable: C Nick Mangold (neck) and WR Eric Decker (knee)
Jetlife33
Mostly good news on the Jets' injury front: C Nick Mangold (neck) and WR Eric Decker (knee) practiced fully and are listed as probable. WR Brandon Marshall (toe/ankle) is questionable, although Todd Bowles remains hopeful Marshall will play. G Willie Colon (knee) and CB Buster Skrine (shoulder) are questionable, but look for them to play. As expected, S Calvin Pryor (ankle) is out.
