56mehl56 Posted December 9, 2015 Share Posted December 9, 2015 Bama's OL was well below their normal average, they have a good center and a LT (who played hurt all year) This is not the typical bama OL that Trent and Ingram had. SEC WEST was the toughest division in college and this also comes from Danny Sheridan, every team was bowl eligible. So please put down your crack pipe. Florida Defense was also the toughest Def bama faced all yr and the dude put 189 yds. Bama's QB was average at best, neither Saban or Kiffin trust him to pass downfield, which would help open the running lanes. Henry will probably be downgraded due to how bad Trent was in NFL. Unlike Bama's offense pre Kiffen his offensive playcalling opened up the run game even with less than stellar QB play. The SEC West was undoubtedly tough but mainly due to those teams being able to put big numbers up on offense , the defenses across the board there were underwhelming by SEC standards. The fact that Bama had the strongest D in the West helped as it allowed them to generate large leads and took the pressure off of Henry. Florida has a great D but they are forced onto the field much too often due to a pathetic offense, their D gets worn down like they did against Bama and just like against LSU when Fournette put up 180 yards on that same D. Henry will be downgraded because he's an upright runner without a lot of wiggle , he's able to run by college LB's and safeties , he'll have a much harder time trying to do that at the next level. And I agree a good QB and competent offensive playcalling would help the D immensely . Replacing stars with stars doesn't always help immediately though , its not like Basketball where you throw five Freshman on the court each year. When you consistently lose juniors it makes it hard to re-tool and stay relevant in the SEC where one loss usually dashes your hopes of a national title.
