GimmeShelter
Cubs SP was VERY good the entire series and set up with their three best facing us. We seemed to hit into a DP or run ourselves out of the few threats we had. Rizzo is such an underrated monster. Despite his fielding woes Terry has to find Flores regular AB's in my opinion. Hopefully we get to do this again in October.

If it's a Cubs righty you have to play Flores, he's been too good against them, but still, put him at 2nd or something. He's just a complete disaster on the left side of the field. Cubs scored an extra run or two today off snaking one right by him and Reyes looked like he was trying to play both positions because of it. Love him putting Lagares out there but I'm afraid of this being a low scoring game and us needing Loney's glove. Marlins have been on a tear lately though, so I guess Terry is thinking we need the runs more.

RutgersJetFan
Huge win today. Crazy good pitching matchup tomorrow with DeGrom and Fernandez. Nats lost. 4 games back. Big opportunity to tighten this up a little bit with the next two games. These are the games that the Mets have to win if we're going to make a playoff push this year. It is almost August. It's time. GimmeShelter
Zack Wheeler (elbow) will begin facing live hitters next week, per Mets manager Terry Collins. That's the final step before a minor league rehab assignment. Wheeler has run into multiple setbacks in his recovery from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery, but he could become an option for New York in late August if everything runs smoothly from here. RutgersJetFan
Big win today. 3 out of their last 4 series and taking the divisional ones. The Nats have a very tough few weeks coming up with a lot of games against San Fran and Cleveland and the Mets have a much easier run. If the Mets can just keep up this pace for the second half all they have to do is bring it for the remaining games against the Nats. And they definitely have some relief on the way with Wheeler and Duda coming back in the coming weeks, as well as a trade for a long reliever certainly happening. Right now you've got a 3-team race for the East and a 5-team race for the Wild Card. The Mets are right in the thick of both of those and for the second year in a row we get to watch meaningful late summer baseball. In an era where it is insanely tough to repeat the year after, gotta say that's pretty cool.

RutgersJetFan
If they can sign Lucroy long term then by all means, otherwise this is moronic. Who knows if Plawecki can ever get it together and I don't think the Mets have anyone else coming up that's remotely even close to being ready for a call-up. GimmeShelter
I think Lucroy has a very friendly club option for next year if I recall. I would do it for this year and next. Travis showed signs last Sept and October but injuries and inconsistency has been his MO. I would take Lucroy's bat for this season and next. Obviously the Brewers want more than just Travis. In any event if they're demanding anything other than d'Arnaud I think you have to pass. The Mets have a nice core of infielders coming up, but the problem is their system is also top heavy right now and trading anyone away really puts a dent in the farm. I suppose Rosario makes Cecchini expendable, but Cecchini and d'Arnaud for Lucroy? No way.
faba
From SNY Mets GM Sandy Alderson said that the team may add a bullpen arm before the trade deadline. "I think realistically, the bullpen is the area we can get someone," Alderson said, according to Anthony DiComo. Alderson also said that the Mets are unlikely to acquire a starting pitcher or a position player. The GM said that other teams have been asking for top-tier prospects from the Mets, but he is unwilling to deal them, according to Laura Albanese. He was one of the higher rated HS LHPs last year - hit 95, showed a potentially very good slider, enough size and projectability to be interesting, some pitchability....Anyway, guy has a 30/4 K: BB in 16.2 IP this year while allowing just 8 hits. Struck out 13 over 6 in his season debut and is generating some buzz on the prospect blogosphere after a 6 IP/ 11 K outing on 7/4. Definitely a guy to watch, could see full season ball this year and definitely will next year. I'll throw in every time I talk about this farm that Rosario is a stud and there's a 2B between Herrera and Cecchini. I lean Herrera and have for a few years now. That MIF set up could be in place by this time next summer even. Yeah, Walker isn't hitting
