Freemanm
Great news for everyone, except Bills fans. They deserve better. Wow. they really do. I just watched "The Four Falls of Buffalo" on Netflix. It almost made me feel sorry for them.
#27TheDominator
Rob Ryan is not different than Rex Ryan at all. People say rob ryan Sucks, give rex the kind of puke d talent Rob has had to put up with in his tenures and the results would be the same. Hell Rex did not have all pro corners for one year here and he fell on his ass. There were plenty of "advanced metrics" guys that had pressure percentage and zone/man stats to show Rob ran a significantly different and more bend with don't break D than Rex. You can claim Rex sucks too, but I don't think they are the same. This stuff came up when people were all excited and wanted Rob here to be DC for Rex before Pettine was hired on. So which defense will Rob be running? His own or Rex's? And how will Rob handle criticism from his own brother when the system, inevitably, fails? So many delicious questions that will be very entertaining to have answered in 2016.

When has Rex had a defense with very poor talent? For one year and one year only he had a poor set of corners, he made no adjustments to his coaching and the team got killed as a result. Like many D coordinators when Rob has had good talent he has not done bad but he has had pure garbage talent many of his years. Rex was handed a top[ 3 defense this year and Buff was mid level. I loved Rex when he was here the first few years. But I am glad that the circus is gone. Can you imagine the circus label we would have gotten for this? So, what is his brother's role, not DC? So he works for a guy who works for his brother? What happens during the game when the defense blows a big play, or the 2 going to fight it out? Sorry, for the circus, distraction, and unity of the coaching staff this is a bad idea. I guess Rex never got the unity of the locker room - I think this is even worse than making Holmes a captain; imagine what the coaches think - too bad the 'leak' isn't still there. I bet the reporters are salivating over this.

CTM
I really can't believe ownership is allowing this. Even if they don't fight, the alternative is that they synergize and become an echo chamber with an exponential impact on Ryan family bravado. How was this sold? Rex in stereo? We lost last year because we didn't have enough Rex? It's not likely he's going to bring different ideas to the table. They reap what they sow. More I think about it...our organization is not far behind. Winning cultures dont allow a buffoon like REX to do his schtick. Think the Steelers, pats or GB would allow the following?? Only teams with a flair for exposure first, winning second would allow that. Ravens KNEW this would be...so they avoided it.
kmnj
bills own us next year we will get swept again and people can say how sh*tty of a coach rex is again Rex was the best jets coach since super bowl three team he may have wore out his welcome but I would rather him over bowles any day of the week and twice on Sunday when rex had talent his defense was awesome

So, the 'when rex had talent his defense was awesome' doesn't really cut it. So, a guy with arguably the same level of defensive players, playing roughly the same schedule we did, who owned us for 2 games swing (without those 2 games we are 10-4 he is 6-8) won 2 less games than us, but Rex is the better coach. I think it is safe to say that on the 2 occasions we played Buffalo, Rex was the best coach on the field both times. Unfortunately for the Bills, Rex doesn't get to play the Jets 16 times. You can also imagine that Bowels can improve over his rookie season, and some of the players Rex knows how to scheme will likely change over, so whose future looks better? And, just add the 'his twin brother is on the staff' and well, yep; Rex is great. I will give you one thing, it should be great TV while it lasts. A true test of coaching skill is facing some adversity worth player talent and injuri3s and getting results. The moment Rex faced this adversity he folded, of course everyone blamed the gm. 3rd of all, like all Rexapoligsts notice how you talked about Rex and his defense and not rex as a head coach? I'll look at it the other way, if we had a better head football coach and gm who was not bullied by him we may have gone further than two afc title games. I'm glad he's gone, I'm glad he has a GM in bufflao he can bully, I am super gland he took all his assistant buddies with him, and all to a div rival. Rex Ryan in his rookie season went 9-7, Bowles team went 10-6. The only difference here is that Rex's 9 wins fortunately qualified us for the playoffs and the Jets put on a show leading up to the AFCCG. I certainly wont take that away from Rex, it was well deserved, but Bowles 10-6 record didnt qualify...and it sucks because the schedule was pretty easy. I guess you have point here, but given the fact that Bowles really put this coaching staff together and we were solid overall on both sides of the ball (though terrible in Special teams), I like what I see from Bowles so far. TheMagicRat
How did the Jets get to back to back AFC championship games with Ryan as HC? I still can't figure it out Much like players, coaches can get figured out or decline after a period of time. Colin Kaepernick played like a stud for his first couple of years and got the 49ers to a Super Bowl, which they almost won (he was called the best QB in the league by Jaws lol). This year he was benched for Blaine Gabbert. Rex's defense was so effective the first few years because the league was unfamiliar with his system. However, once they caught on and picked up his scheme, it wasn't as effective even with more talent. Rex is still very good on the defensive side on the ball, but I think he's only an average head coach.
