7 teams in the league had more wins than Fitz.

Jets only team in the league to score at least 17 points in every game.

Jets 3rd in the league in redzone eff.

Jets 2nd best in sacks given up despite having one jag guard, a suspect RT and an aging LT.

Threw at least one td in every game except one.

Good thing our Wr's were responsible for all of this, why the hell were they not also helping our defense?

what did he do against a dead tam in week 17 w/ the playoffs on the line?

Maybe if your posts were a little clearer than the water in the Boston Harbor, it would be easier to follow exactly what it is you are trying to say.

its in black and white. go back and re-read. you jumped in to my post. i was responding to another poster who insists that the only reason the jets offense was watchable was because of brandon and had nothing to do with fitz. aslo stated it wasnt even debatable. in reallity, you and i have a similiar view with the difference being that you are giving a few more points to marshal and i am giving a few more points to fitz

Glad ya think you can guess an age.  Maybe you have a future as a fortune teller or something.  Because any hopes of being an NFL scout are long gone.

Find the threads.  They give you the all-22 view.

But go ahead, guess away.

not a fortune teller. just perceptive. you claim to know more than i by reading what some other poster or blogger wrote. i have my own opinions, while you seem to latch onto others as gospel

I just posted some of the links to the reviews.  Don't even read the comments if you don't want.  Make your own judgments from the tape.

Btw, I didn't need those to tell me Fitz was mediocre.  Most don't.

Edit:  However @win4ever does give some great breakdowns.  No shame in learning a bit from his threads.

mike, here's the thing. i really dont think reviews are gospel. #1, its another persons opinion. and if you learned anything from this message boards, its that opinions differ greatly. #2, its a small sample size to judge an entire game. they show a few plays of the good, the bad, and the ugly. #3, i prefer to come to my own conclusions while watching the games. not someone elses.

if fitz was just mediocre last year, i would hate to see you rate the previous 20 years of ny jets qb play. if fitz is worth 3m a year, what would geno be worth? post injury pennington? mark sanchez last 3 years? kellen clemens? post injury favre?

edit: sorry for the last part. i think its unfair. i dont think you have been watching football for that long

Give it a rest with the age-related comments.

I'm not rehashing all the mediocre-Fitz points now.  Perhaps some other day.

However not at least looking at the reviews shows an unwillingness to view the facts.  So it may not even be worth having that discussion.   Again, you don't have to read the comments.  View the tape.  No one can see the all-22 film and come away thinking Fitz is anything but mediocre.

The Fitz supporters really need to go back through the weekly Fitz review threads and see how mediocre he really was.

My only guess is they're looking at stats and the limited field-view TV gives.

If his mediocre gets those results I'm fine with that any day of the week.  Mediocre is a massive upgrade fro this team.  Hell half the forum has been pleading for a mediocre Qb for yeas after watching two Qb's who were specialists at soul crushing plays game after game, year after year.

We get this mediocre QB, he puts up better than mediocre results and all of a sudden people, with really no viable alternative are beefing that he's awful.

I almost hope we get Geno next year, undoubtedly the tough schedule will be the broad stroke excuse when he falls on his ass with Gailey and a team full of weaponzzz.

your ability to read someone else's opinion and spout it as gospel has me thinking you havnt been watching football for long. thats why i stated that i thought my questions were unfair about the 20 year thing in my last post

there really is no need to rehash anything about your opinions about fitzpatrick for the reasons stated above

i have read just about everything that has ever been posted on this site including the reviews you posted. while the author does a nice job on the write up, it is more about his opinion, than as you say, the facts. some of his points i agree with, some i dont

you tell me to "view the tape" what tape? the select 10 or 12 plays the author wishes to discuss? i can see why you come to the conclusion that you do based on a small sample size. i prefer to come to my own conclusions based on the entire game

You do know that's backup money, right?

So now Fitz isn't good enough to pay #2 QB money to then?

Lol, Jets Fans.

7mil is backup money?!?!?  Holy $hit!  Back in my day backup QBs made $75 a game and did the team's laundry.

Seriously though, 7mil isn't really backup money right?

"5-11 is pretty good for geno with this brutal schedule. it wasnt fair that fitz played an easy schedule and geno got stuck with a harder shedule. i would like to see geno with these weapinz, this offensive coordinator, and an easy schedule. than we will know what geno is"

I'll give you his last 6 weeks as in the old down the stretch trying to make the playoffs series of games.

5 wins - 1 loss

15 tds, 4 ints, 1 fumble lost.

61% comp rating and over 1700 yards.

awesome, great job against mostly bad teams(and the one good team not trying to win) but what did he do with the playoffs on the line?

Okay.  To each his own.  Could be good for an in depth discussion at some point in the future.  Hell maybe even at a tailgate over a few beers sometime (if you can buy the alcohol, I'm a bit too young).

The word 'Facts' should never come out of the mouths of the ridiculously critical genre for Fitz becasue facts are almost exclusively ignored.

Correlation does not imply causation. But if your goal is to root for failure in order to prove a point, then knock yourself out

Remember that time when fitz threw 4 TD's in a blowout game against the worst team in the league? He deserves a statue for that

I actually did misuse the word "facts", but everyone does. Should have said "obviously true facts" instead.

Fun fact:  facts don't have to be true.

Yup.  I'll never understand this.  I think Geno Smith is a worthless turd and another in a long line of Jets QB mistakes, but if for some reason, he is the starting QB of the Jets in 2016, I will be rooting my ass off for him.

Only the facts that make fitzpatrick look good are actually "facts" to these people

I'm completely fine with this outcome.  We know where we'll go with a good team and Fitz.  Nowhere.  Time to find out what Geno can do with a good team.

gotta luv dem bloggers. shows 12 of 33 fitz td's. most of them were accurate throws and reads. yes,. i just dont see "all the bailouts". the running backs and receivers made some nice plays and the play calls were spot on. what about fitz' other 21 td's? why didnt the blogger use those? let me quess. he didnt have the room or the time to go over everyone of fitz' 33, lucky, weather helped, weak schedule assisted, bailed out td's? i stated yesterday that anyone could take any nfl player in the league, use small amounts of video footage, and write an article portraying them in a possitive or negative light. this article is no different. its a sheep article. you think fitz is a jag? fine. you dont want him back? fine. to discedit fitz for his fine season and to give all credit to a certain set of circumstances is just.....idk. when the jets sign fitz, i just hope that gailey, decker, and marshal keep bailing him out

Disagree completely. We all watch plenty of football. How many QBs have nearly half their TDs accounted for by sh*tty throws and decisions? And this was even during an impossibly easy season to play against. When the coverage is tight and a great play can't be made? He looks like a blue-eyed, bearded Geno Smith. Never mind the ridiculous excuses laid at the hands of not having the great Bilal Powell in the game.

If we re-sign him, it's just plain stupid. Bowles will slavishly put him out there. We won't learn a thing about Petty or a rookie because Bowles will be more interested in the low floor more than the high ceiling. And we'll go nowhere. With Fitzpatrick back there, we'd need another perfect storm of injured opponents to even finish 9-7 again. He faced one - ONE - truly elite-level pass defense last year and - with Marshall, Decker, and the invaluable Bilal Powell - he looked like a worthless piece of dogsh*t. Well this year we have more than 1 such opponent replacing the likes of the Jaguars on the schedule.

geno was "gifted" 3 starting positions already. didnt earn one of them. the jets will sign fitz. i am just about sure of it. i dont think he ever will, but if geno beats out fitz handidly in training camp or any part of the season, for that matter, thats when you start geno. you dont "gift" him a 4th starting gig. geno has never "earned" anything

those were not all Fitz bailouts but they were all great plays, I don't have gifs of every great play the man made all year, I watched the games.  He did it on a weekly basis.  when Marshall got banged up(but kept playing) Fitz's #s were down dramatically midseason.  that was not a coincidence.

Please. I've heard the multi-game excuses laid at the feet of missing Bilal Powell.

Can't believe you actually mean this.  In one case the team performed well with a less talented guy in the other the guy just stupidly hands the other team big plays.  Other than his well documented last game how many Geno like plays did fitz make?  For all of his running how many times did he hold ball like a loaf of frigin bread and get strip stacked?  How many drive killing sacks did he take due to pure stupidity?  How many glaring errors did he make in the other teams red zone or inside his own 20?  The short memories around here are astounding.

On plays where Wr's meant nothing to the success of a play Geno found ways to screw it up. Fitz not so much.  If he did the Jets would have won 6-7 games and Geno would have been starting the last games of the year.
