Per SI

NFL free agency officially begins on Wednesday but there is plenty of news to catch up on before players are allowed to start signing contracts.

The Eagles have already made a splash with a pair of trades, but what about the rest of the league? Keep up with the latest buzz on which players could be headed where.

  • The Browns are interested in Bengals receiver Marvin Jones, Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot reports.
  • Running back Lamar Miller will not return to the Dolphins next season, according to Omar Kelly of the Sun-Sentinel.
  • Defensive tackle Nick Fairley, who played last season on a one-year deal with the Rams, is drawing interest from the Jets, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.
  • Pro Bowl center Alex Mack is being pursued by the Falcons and, to a lesser degree, the Jaguars, Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole reports.
  • After six seasons with the Bengals, cornerback and kick returner Adam Jones is a free agent. Fox Sports’ Mike Garafolo lists the Dolphins, Vikings and Cowboys as possible landing spots. Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reports that the Ravens are also interested. Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot reports that the Browns are another potential suitor.
  • Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Raiders have been unable to work out a deal with left tackle Donald Penn and could pursue Ravens tackle Kelechi Osemele as a replacement. The Raiders are the “favorites” to land Osemele, Garafolo reports, and would pay him over $10 million annually.
  • Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, whether Brandon Marshall likes it or not, could be an option for the Rams, Vincent Bonsignore of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
  • The Cardinals are “shopping” defensive end Calais Campbell, Omar Kelly of the Sun-Sentinel reports.
  • Bears linebacker Shea McClellin and Buccaneers safety Chris Conte are both drawing interest from several teams, NFL Network’s Rand Getlin reports.
  • The Texans want to re-sign cornerback A.J. Bouye, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
  • Seven teams talked to Jets running back Chris Ivory, Wilson reports.

The Rams are the one I thought of that would be a fit for Fitz but I don't know if going into LA, you want Ryan Fitzpatrick as your QB

I will also say this. If people think he schedule is going to be tougher and the Jets will struggle, wouldn't this be the perfect year to start to rebuild

BTW a reason outside of Maccs control for the low salary cap is lack of drafting controlled talent. When you can't draft talent, you have to buy it

The positive spin on this... there are teams willing to grossly overpay for established talent on the DL. So, if Malik can get this in a contract... then there's got to be a team willing to trade picks and pay Mo Wilk similarly.

I see this as something hopefully positive for us.

I agree.

If the Gucking Fiants get Harrison there will be some sourness in here.

Stupidly, especially since we beat them last year

The have agreed on terms with RB Chris Ivory, per source. Deal expected to be worth about $7M/year.

Just what Dallas needs, another injury prone player

for sure, but I'd be happy for him... he'll still be close to his real fans, the Jet fans.

Beating them last year literally has nothing to do with anything.

Of course it does. Bragging rights, especially since the Giants finished worse than the Jets

It would be interesting if Fitz goes to Denver because Francesca on his show yesterday said he would be SHOCKED if Fitz went to Denver. He swore that Elway likes strong armed QBs and Fitz doesn't fit the mold.

We probably already have Fitz and Snacks both resigned if we don't franchise tag Wilk

So you want Mac fired then?

While Mac is sitting back watching everybody spend their money like water. That Ivory deal is ridiculous

Actually if you think about it the Jets are one of the reasons this spree is going on. Teams saw how we spent money and went from 4 to 10 wins. They think they can do the same

he's sitting back cause he spent it all last season.  we just don't have money.

his first order of business should have been giving Mo a long term deal and not waiting until we had to franchise him for 15.7M.

Not if he wants Watt or Malik Jackson money. He's not worth Watt money.

Plus if we trade him, that money goes away. It's one year in a rebuilding plan, what's the rush?

iWhen it was clear that Mo was a top DE, which was 2 years ago, Mo should have been extended for a lower average salary using some of the salary cap that was wasted on Harvin and Cromartie.

Now, in what would appear to be a Woody Johnson driven move, they are insisting on extracting some "value" from letting Mo walk by franchising him.  However, the Jets are applying $16mm of their precious resource to a position that they already have 2 other good players at.   Malik Jackson, who is probably not as good as Mo, has just set the bar higher.  This a DL deep draft.  Unless we are missing something, what teams are going to want to give up a valuable high draft pick to sign Mo for $100mm?

They blew it with Mo.  They should move on.  Pull the franchise tag if they can (Mo has not signed it), let him sign with someone else, take the compensatory pick, and use the cap room to sign some players on the lines who can help the team in the long term.

I would then extend Richardson to a fair contract that provides guaranteed money IF HE IS NOT SUSPENDED.  For his own good, he should not get any cash upfront.

If a team thinks he's a final piece, they'll trade for him

Mo's a better player then jackson.  he's going to, and should get, more then him.

Which is the problem. Jacksons value is overvalued thus Mos value is overvalued

Again, I think people have to realize that the Jets are not in win now mode. They only signed everybody last year to buy time to rebuild the team

you are not in win now mode when you have no qb.  mccags first priority is still grooming a qb.  he was speaking about drafting one every year just a few weeks ago.

But the fans are always in win now mode. So it their fault for own impatience

jet fans are justifiably encouraged by last year.  but most of the offensive positions still need an infusion of talent.

Exactly. Last year bought Mac and Bowles some credibility and time to rebuild the roster. Now they have to execute, but the plan is right

Rebuild?  That was last year when we had one of the best cap situations in the league.  There's no rebuilding with 6 mil.  In fact there's a bit of dismantling.

And why do you dismantle? To rebuild silly

Looks like former Jets QB Mark Sanchez could be on the outs.

And another option opens up.

Sanchez went to USC in Los Angeles. Flashy name there. That might be a name the Rams are interested in

enough with looking for a KR or PR.  we need a god damn starting running back, and wasting time/money with Bobby Rainey won't fix that problem.  heck, he won't even fix the KR problem.  he's not good.

Draft

I don't really care if he goes to the Giants. We don't play them for another 4 years. He's getting paid big money

Market for Jets RB Bilal Powell is intensifying. Broncos are interested. Jets still in it. No Patriots.

Thought the Pats were just a ploy to scare the Jets. Not in this regime
