Snacks to the Giants

Turning a UDFA into a comp pick seems new for the Jets.

In the last 10 years, how many starters/contributors have the Jets drafted in rounds 4-6?

Losing key players and hoping a bunch of 4-6 round draft picks turn out to be starters is no way to build a franchise.

Good luck though.

You mean like Mankins, Seymour or Wilfork and a host of other players the Pats didnt want to pay?

Damon Harrison (Giants): C

The Giants further upgraded their defensive line by adding a massive body on the interior. The 350-pound Harrison won't have to travel far, given that he spent his first four seasons with the Jets, but he will likely be moving into a new house. After making a total of $3.8 million during his four seasons on the green side of the Meadowlands, Harrison signed a five-year, $46-million deal with $23 million guaranteed to become an interior presence for the Giants.

Harrison was a very good player for the Jets, and his best years could still be ahead of him at 27, but there are reasons to be hesitant about this move for the Giants. Harrison was surrounded by stars during his last run, with Muhammad Wilkerson and Sheldon Richardson alongside him for the vast majority of the last three seasons. He won't exactly be surrounded by scrubs, given that the Giants spent their entire offseason allowance on defensive linemen on Tuesday, but it might make Harrison look like a more important asset than he would have been on a lesser team.

This move is such an FU to Woody and the Jets courtesy the Maras.  They half-tailed the Mario negotiations but they pull out the bank vault for our FA Snacks.

If one team is spending that much money to FU another, that never works.

I wanted Snacks back, but not at that $$.

The Maras are sore as f__k about losing that regular season game to us and having a worse season overall.  They hate Woody and never cared for the Jets.

Hey, if overpaying for a guy makes them feel better, so be it.

I guess the Maras have more in common with Jets fans than we thought

Costello still trying so hard to troll Jet fans. Snacks, not to take anything away from him, was the DL that benefited most from having Sheldon and Mo next to him. Offenses put their pass pro focus on the edges, leaving the middle soft.

No - Snacks was the Jets' best run defender, and one of the best in the league.  He's a legit stud who won't be easy to replace.  It's just a shame the Jets didn't lock him up longer term when he was coming into his own.  The comp pick will be a decent consolation prize

Simon is an older prospect and he's dealt with a knee injury but nose tackles are a dime a dozen. No harm in taking this big bodied 2-gapper this late in the draft. --Mark Dulgerian

I had no idea that we had lost Harrison until a little while ago
