why does St. Johns still suck?  It has to come down to recruiting, why can't they get anyone?

I think the hiring of Chris Mullin will, slowly but surely, have an impact.  Remember, when he took over in 2015, they were coming off a strong year but had lost tons of people.  They went 7-24 his first year.  This year they're 12-14.  And their 2 top scorers are both freshmen:  Lovett and Ponds are each averaging 17+.  And Ponds was a 4-star recruit.  Their # 3 scorer (Ahmed) is a JUCO transfer.

In 2017, they have another 4-star recruit coming in.  He's a 7-foot, 260 lbs center from Miami, ranked the # 22 center in America.  They also got a 2018 commit from a 4-star small forward within NY.

Give it time.

My boys drop 115 on the road, looking lights out.  They can score and play up and down or they can grind it out in a defensive battle. Mark White has a solid versatile team.  Unfortunately we lost our rim protector, John Egbunu. Torn ACL.  That one could hurt come tourney time.

thanks.  I remember watching the amityville horror his senior season in high school after he committed to SJU and he just went coast to coast for the tomahawk jam like 7 times, I had never seen a high school kid do that before.  I hope they become relevant again.

Louie dragged me out of a line at a camp when I was like 14 to make me do slide steps one time, it was like being coached by Jesus, lol

the injuries never stop for the Heels. Kenny Williams is likely out for the rest of the year but at least Hicks was back and hopefully Pinson can stay healthy.  it would also help if they can play NC State every game, 2 games against them and they beat them by a combined 75 points.

the Heels are playing well, huge game tomorrow night against Louisville which ultimately could decide the ACC regular season title.

Syracuse has takena  step back and are a bubble team again, they have their own huge game tomorrow.  if they can beat duke they will be in good shape.  a week ago I didn't think they;d have to win that game but now they almost have to.

Just for fun I wanted to compare Carolina hosting UVa to Villanova hosting UVa:

vs. Carolina: UVa attempted 54 shots, Carolina 58

vs. 'Nova: they attempted 50 shots, 'Nova 40

vs. Carolina: they attempted 20 3's, Carolina 19 3's

vs. Nova: 18 3's, 16 3's

so against Carolina the Heels shot 4 more shots and took less 3's and against 'Nova UVa shot 10 more shots and 2 less 3s.

FTs:

vs. Carolina: UVa 12 FTAs, Carolina 9 FTAs

vs. 'Nova: UVa 3 FTAs, 'Nova 24 FTAs

oh, Carolina won by 24, 'Nova won by 1 tip in at the buzzer.

College baseball season is underway.  Lot's of applicable teams whose fans post on this board are ranked:

https://d1baseball.com/news/d1baseball-top-25-feb-20/

Florida:  # 2

NC State:  # 6

UNC:  # 9

ECU:  # 18

defending national champs Coastal Carolina:  # 19

UNCW:  # 23

My Seahawks face Coastal three times this year, twice at home.  Should be fun.  This weekend they hit the road to face # 17 Ole Miss for a 3-game series.

I'm planning to watch both games tonight :)

Getting close to March Madness, man the first two rounds are always the best

The Conference title games for 1 or 2-bid leagues are very underrated as well.  And yeah, I know I'm biased towards mid-majors.  Still, drama is drama, and the teams who make it to their league title games tend to play very good basketball for their level and make for some really good games.

Oh yeah, I remember now. I think I watched UNC Asheville (not UNCW) in their conference championship game. Dwayne Sutton got MVP I think. I think I watched  part of their Villanova game in the NCAAs too.

UNC Asheville came as close to a 16-1 upset as there ever has been back in 2012.  A blown call saved Syracuse from a history-making upset:

Asheville's HC, Eddie Biedenbach, later was an assistant coach for UNCW for a year.

what a great night of college basketball.  Syracuse beats duke and the Heels win going away against a tough Louisville team.  The Heels are in the drivers seat now in the ACC w/ a 2 game lead w/ 3 to play and that 1 seed is looking pretty solid right now.

Carolina clinched the 1 seed in the ACC Tourney and need 1 win in the last 2(or a loss by FSU, UL and ND) to clinch another outright ACC title.  Roy now has 8 ACC titles in the last 13 years, an amazing accomplishment in this Conference and coming into this year losing the players he lost last year and everyone thinking duke was going to runaway w/ the conference while the Heels are kind of running away w/ it.  Just incredible. he's such an underrated coach.

just for fun, in TWO games against UVa Carolina shot 14 TOTAL FTs, in one game 'Nova shot 24.  UVa shot 20 against Carolina and 3 against 'Nova

in 2 games against 'Nova despite only those 14 FTs attempted and 20 for UVa(vs. 24 for nova and 3 for UVa) Carolina was +14 and 'Nova was +1.

how come you didn't come by when 'Nova lost the other day to another one of their creampuff opponents in that weak conference?

anyway, Carolina played poorly.  it happens.  they had already clinched the 1 seed in the ACC and it will be more fun to clinch the outright title at home beating duke.

Actually, I did. And simply **scrolling up** makes it even easier to refute that statement than your typical line of horsesh*t. Try again, Spicer.

My mistake, it was a rare appearance and please don't bring your asinine politics into this. enjoy that you were given a rare nat'l title and shut your little mouth.
