Merriweather was a bust for pats, he has been a JAG everywhere he has been, Spikes was a bust, might be slowest LB i have ever seen. Dropson and Taylor price  busts, Why dont you review all your 2nd rd picks pretty pathetic.

When you cheat, you don't need to draft well.

I'm sure they'll do better with their 1st round pick this year.

Bellie also knows exactly how to avoid first round busts. Trade down into the second round and pick your busts there. Or, get caught cheating and save yourself the trouble altogether.

agree, CBS reported it may have been "off the field" issues as well and it was cheaper to keep him so they have to expect someone to take a chance, can a waiver claim depend on a medical?

Yes, player has to pass the team's physical or everything is null and void.

Quick reminder that the Patriots, who are stupid and bad at drafting, and are also gay, won the Super Bowl the year they drafted Easley, who is a stupid bad gay bust

This is actually pretty significant, the loss of Chandler Jones and Dominique Easley are really going to hurt the Patriots front (which was one of the better ones in football last year in terms of getting to the qb).  Easley was rarely healthy, but he had ridiculous burst and was really difficult to block.

Good news for the rest of the AFC east

The pats fans as usual simply cannot say a bad thing about their team or their god Belichick, thus as usual totally destroying any credibility they might want to portray.  Easley was an awful awful pick the moment it was made and it is all the worse now having to cut a guy that started a whopping 3 games.  His knees were shot before he was drafted and most people were in shock that he was drafted that early by the Pats, a huge reach when the guy was red flagged due to his wonky knees.  But the hubris of Belly shines through.

Now instead of having any cred at all and simply saying "You know Belly royally screwed up on  that pick, it was terrible but lol we still have Brady."  We get a slew of excuses, lame reasons why the pats were not at fault for this guy and moreso bleating about things other than the topic at hand, that being that the pats and belly royally fugged up that pick.

I guess the Pats need to follow the Jets philosophy when it comes to drafting.

All those Jets recent Super Bowl championships proves how great a drafting team they are.

Seriously, you have to be the dumbest poster on the board.

Bellichick is a weak drafter that's just a fact, no need to shine their tainted Super Bowl rings in our faces

Patriots player: 'Injuries and locker room cancer' led to Easley's release

by

The New England Patriots' decision to release 2014 first-round pickDominique Easley on Wednesday was reportedly motivated by more than just his injury issues.

Multiple league sources told Ben Volin of the Boston Globe that the defensive tackle was unreliable and immature, and was never a good fit for the Patriots.

"He'll make an appointment for a massage and not show up," one source told Volin. "He's just very disrespectful and irresponsible."

Added another source: "I think he rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. He comes across as an entitled kid. He reneges on everything. He thinks he's invincible."

Easley's release apparently didn't come as much of a surprise to his former teammates, either.

"Saw that coming," an unnamed Patriots player said. "Injuries and locker room cancer."

A highly touted prospect out of Florida, Easley was projected as an early first-round pick before tearing his ACL a second time. Lingering knee issues caused him to miss five games in his rookie season, and he was limited to 11 games in 2015 due to knee, hip, and ankle injuries.

Easley repeatedly ignored requests from the Patriots to rehab his injuries with the team's trainers, according to Volin, instead rehabbing alone. The Patriots became so fed up with him during his rookie season that after placing him on injured reserve in December, they told him to rehab away from the team until offseason workouts began in April, Volin reports.

The Patriots "never liked him from the get-go, and part of the problem was he would never listen to the medical advice," a source said.

Easley reportedly felt the same way, telling people privately that he wanted out of New England. He got his wish, and must now wait and see if another team claims him off waivers.

The entire purpose of the draft is to build your team for consistent, long term growth and success.

The Pats have dominated the NFL for the last 15 straight years but BB is a "weak" drafter.

You guys are hilarious.

Cheating. Everything the Pats have accomplished is because of Cheating.  Enjoy your first round pick this year.

Once again the total inability to ever admit that anything the pats or Belly do is wrong or a mistake makes you guys look no smarter than the fools on the pats forums.  BB has made a lot of mistakes in this 'draft manipulation'.  If you have one of the best QB's ever you go for it and yet he has had years where he traded back rather than take premium players.  His biggest fault over the years?  Doing an awful job of getting his QB WR's that are really good.

In any case all of that is secondary to what this thread is about.  Any way you slice it the Easily pick was just horrendous.

Easily's scouting report from that year:

"Easley was lost for the 2013 season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament and medial meniscus in his right knee during a routine practice September 24. Despite sustaining the injury, Easley announced shortly thereafter that he was heading to the NFL. The injury was particularly disconcerting because less than two years earlier, Easley suffered a similar injury to his left knee.

When healthy, Easley has shown great quickness, an attribute that he has used to penetrate offensive lines and consistently pressure opposing quarterbacks. Unfortunately, besides durability, Easley has also struggled with making the big play when in position to do so, flashing rather than dominating.

A healthy Easley has exceptional get-off quickness, constantly playing on the other side of the line of scrimmage. But buyer beware. In a draft awash with talent, some team will really need to have a special feeling for Easley to spend a high pick based on potential not attained due to multiple, non-contact injuries.

At under 290 pounds, Easley may be considered undersized to be an every-down interior defensive lineman at the next level. As with any player who has suffered an ACL tear, there may be questions about durability and long-term health. Not a natural fit in a 3-4 front and may struggle to earn an every-down role in the 4-3. Due to his less-than-ideal size, Easley is reliant on his burst and agility, making his recovery from a second ACL injury potentially critical to his NFL success "

The very definition of a Bust Reach.

It's all about the QB.  Over the last 10 years, the Pats first round picks haven't been any better than the Jets first round picks.  But the Pats have had more success.  Why?  The QB.

Tom Brady is the reason you've been a dominant team, not BB's lackluster draft skills

Btw, anyone defending the Patriots picking of this joker need look no further than this quote.  If they "never liked him from the get-go" then why the hell are they burning a first round pick on him?  Major scouting and drafting pfail.
