They gave the Jets 1st round an "A" grade with the Lee pick.

New York Jets: Darron Lee, LB, Ohio State A Grade
The Jets picked Leonard Williams last year, proving that they'll draft the best player available, even if they don't have a need at the position. This year, the Jets have selected perhaps the best player available - and one who actually fills a need. The Jets have had a hole at inside linebacker for a very long time. Darron Lee, who could've gone as high as No. 14, figures to change that. Lee is very athletic and has a ton of upside. He projects as a great fit in Todd Bowles' defense

Maybe Walter can play receiver and tackle for us after next year when the rest of our offense is old and sh*tty.

Had no idea we used our only pick for both this year and next years draft.

He also a VERY GOOD blitzer and actually has that elite speed off the edge folks have been crying about for years.

Until a 6'5" guard knocks him on his ass. I'm just pissed, but I will reserve judgment until I see him play into the middle to the end of the season.

Alright, nice 1st round pick.

Grab a CB and DE tomorrow and we'll be golden!

How firmly is your tongue in your cheek with that post?

Jack some of you say. If we draft more defense in the 2nd I swear to god.

We need to pick a DL to make up for take a LB in the 1st.

Tfw when you're trying to talk yourself into passing on Paxton Lynch and then the best team in the league drafts Paxton Lynch.

They just should have taken him. Totally justifiable pick. If he busts he busts. Whatever. So long as they don't hold out hope on him for too long then reaching for QBs is perfectly fine. You have to play to win and honestly it doesn't look like this franchise is remotely interested anymore.

He is nothing like Maybin.  Nice try.  Go look for an accurate comparison.

CONCERNS
As a Linebacker, Darren lacks the stoutness against the run and the shed and tackle skills that you need to have to an impact in that position at the next level. He is what I would call a finesse linebacker who would need to run free to the play to impact. He also is a sloppy tackler although in the open field he does much better tackling because he knows he must make a sure tackle. Darren can make impact plays, but most of those plays are because of the play call or scheme that he is in at the time.

If Walter plays wide-out, I am pretty sure he can pass to himself too.  :D

Whoever is still crying about Jack needs to go to sleep....

It's pick 31 and he's still there.....the talent is undeniable but 30 teams think his knee is not worth it.

Second round risk at best......

But he is worth that risk!!!

Neither would drafting Lynch as he would probably ride the pine for a year or two assuming he can beat Petty.

Elway and Kubiak will have Lynch ready by September.

Maccagnan and Bowles run the team like they have an ace up their sleeve and the time is coming very, very soon where they're going to have to pony up. Maybe they think they're going to get Drew Brees next year, or that Bryce Petty is better than they're letting on. If not, and the do some sh*t like draft Hackenberg tomorrow, I'm going to feel as though they're full of sh*t.

I'm pretty sure this is the exact focus and philosphy of Bowles defense and why he plays so much nickel.

2nd bolded point, this can be coached up, we have some elite players around him, this kid is going to at least solid, potential for so much more.

You forgot the part where the 6'5 guard steps on him after he knocks him on his ass.

copied from the Lee thread:

It's eery.

http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/deone-bucannon?id=2543769

Deone Bucannon (6'1, 211) 32.5" arms, 9 3/4" hands

4.49 Forty, 19 reps bench, 36.5 inch vert, 125 inch broad, 6.96 three-cone, 4.26 twenty-shuttle

Drafted #27 overall

http://www.nfl.com/draft/2016/profiles/darron-lee?id=2555322

Darren Lee (6'1, 232) 33.25" arms, 9 3/4" hands

4.47 Forty, 17 reps bench, 35.5 inch vert, 133 inch broad, 7.12 three-cone, 4.20 twenty-shuttle

Drafted #20 overall

Bucanon NFL stats:

2014: split time at Strong Safety

9 starts: 88 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 pass deflections, forced fumble

2015: Converted to "Moneybacker" ($LB)

16 starts: 112 tackles, 3 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, 3 passes defensed, interception for TD

This pick reeks of Todd Bowles.  And I guess that's okay.

UH yea so. You'd think we could get a BETTER player at 20.  Jackson, Spriggs, Spence, Lynch and on and on would have been more 'impactful'.

But when you take a QB in the 1st, you HAVE to hold out hope on him, generally. It's not "if he busts, he busts", it's "if he busts, people lose their jobs."

The draft isn't over and there may well be a different QB we like.  I wanted Laquon Treadwell at 20 but I'm willing to wait and see.

LMAO, dude, Maybin was tall and thin while Lee is short and stocky. Maybin was stiff while Lee is very fluid. Lee was a playmaker all over the field in college while Maybin was a sack specialist. You clearly don't know  how Lee plays if you think he is a similar player as Aaron Maybin. Not to mention Maybin played DE at college (mostly) while Lee was never a DE.
